It's been a few years since I filmed a morning routine and I thought what better time to do an update than during the cold, dark wintry months when it's super hard to get out of bed.
This morning my alarm woke me up at 6 30 and I have to say it wasn't as terrible as it used to be.
This alarm clock has really changed my life.
I usually don't drink water during the night, so the first thing I do when I get up is go to the kitchen and drink a ton of water and just rehydrate my body.
And then naturally I make myself my morning coffee.
This is one of those things that I just cannot let go.
I have to say, over the last few months I've been trying to have breakfast before my coffee, but I still find it really difficult.
And so some days, like today, I end up having my coffee first.
And honestly, if that's the worst thing, then I think it's okay.
One thing about me is I'm not one of those people that can just get up and go.
I really need my alone time in the morning and that's exactly what I do.
Once I've had my water and made my coffee is I just sit on the couch, I grab my journal, I do a little journal entry.
I always start with three things that I'm grateful for, and I know this sounds cliche, but if you're like me and can get caught up in life and the negative things, this actually really helps pull me out of that.
Then I write down my three goals for the day.
This can kind of depend on the day or week, but if you're a small wins kind of person, then this is a really great way to break down bigger goals into small, everyday accomplishments.
The last thing I journal about is three experiences that I want to attract into my life.
I've been getting curious about meditation and I find it really hard to do traditional meditation where you quiet your mind, don't think about anything.
And so the way that I've been easing myself into meditation is by using it as a time to visualize the things that I want to happen, the experiences I want to attract into my life.
And I've really been enjoying it.
And so when I'm sitting there pseudo meditating, I'm actually thinking about those three things that I've written down.
Once I've done all my journaling and meditating, I just chill and check my calendar, check my to-do list.
I'll go on Instagram for a little bit and do that while I finish my coffee.
And then eventually I'll go into the bathroom and I'll wash my face, brush my teeth, do all the little morning things.
I also do gua sha.
I've been very religious about doing my gua sha every single day.
And I've really noticed a difference.
If you're one of those people just like me who retains a little bit of water, tends to be a little puffy when they wake up in the morning, I would definitely give this a try, because it's made a big difference for me.
Also on the days where I go for a workout.
I just put some SPF over my facial oil and I do my full skincare routine later on.
And I also always brush off my brows.
Then it was time for us to have breakfast.
I bought raspberries and I already had some bananas so I just made us some yogurt bowls.
We usually either have a yogurt bowl for breakfast, or we'll do eggs and toast, or eggs and avocado, or sometimes even eggs with fruit.
But we definitely try to have something with protein and just something that's overall pretty healthy for breakfast.
I love chia seeds, so I always give myself a bunch.
And then Avery gets some chia seeds and he also loves granola.
If you've watched my videos over the years, you'll know that I love meals that are quick and simple and don't take a lot of time to put together.
And so a yogurt bowl is right up my alley.
Then it was time for me to get ready to go to the gym.
I just put on this black set from Lululemon and I put on my hoodie from Aloe that I was wearing earlier.
I also realized I wasn't wearing earrings throughout this whole video, which is so not like me.
So I had to put those back in, and then I put my hair in a braided ponytail which, for boxing, is actually the best hairstyle ever.
It keeps everything so secure and I don't have to adjust my hair during my workout at all.
I just got myself ready. for my workout.
I'm actually going boxing today, which I'm so excited about.
I haven't taken you guys along to a boxing workout in forever.
Obviously, I wish every day could be like this and that I could start my morning with a boxing class every day, but it's just not realistic.
And so sometimes I'll end up doing a boxing class.
Other times I'll end up just going to Pilates workout nearby.
Sometimes I'll go for a morning walk and sometimes I don't have time to work out at all.
And so I just don't work out.
But I wanted to take you guys along for like a proper morning in my life when I have the time.
And also obviously show you guys some boxing.
I desperately needed a shower after that workout, so I got in, I washed my hair, I did the full haircare routine and then I also did my full skincare routine.
I put on my vitamin C serum, I also put on a thinner moisturizer and then I put on SPF again, because you can never have enough sun protection.
Because I don't have to leave the house the rest of the day.
I just have two Zoom calls this afternoon.
I'm actually gonna let my hair air dry, just put in this detangling spray from Honest, which I really love.
It actually works really well.
I'm just going to let my hair do its thing and not put any heat on it today.
I'm also going to give my skin a little bit of a break.
I am going to put on some powder.
I really love this one from Rare Beauty.
I think the color is a little warm for me actually, but it's perfect for those days where I'm just sitting inside and a little blush.
I feel like this is a very random thing that I do, but whenever I'm at home and I don't need to go to a casting or the agency or an important meeting or anything, I either do mascara or I fill in my brows.
And 90 of the time I fill in my brows and I just skip the mascara because I hate taking off mascara.
It's like my least favorite thing to do.
We're team no mascara over here.
Also, I feel like For a natural makeup, you don't really need it.
A little gloss.
That's it for makeup.
Very easy.
No fuss.
I feel like I look very summery, but I promise it's still very much winter.
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed spending the morning with me and seeing what my routine looks like this time of year.
