📋 Summary

Cultivating a Mindful Morning: A Guide to Intentional Living

Starting the day with intention can be the difference between a chaotic morning and a productive, grounded experience. In this update to her morning routine, the speaker provides a blueprint for easing into the day, emphasizing that one does not need to be a "get up and go" person to be efficient and happy. By prioritizing mental clarity, consistent self-care, and simple nutrition, she demonstrates how to curate a morning that fosters long-term well-being.

The Foundation: Hydration and Gentle Awakening

The morning begins at 6:30 AM, with the speaker noting that a reliable alarm clock has been a "life-changing" tool for overcoming the difficulty of rising during the "cold, dark wintry months." Her first act is to "rehydrate" the body with water. While she acknowledges the struggle of drinking coffee before breakfast, she adopts a compassionate view toward her habits, noting that if drinking coffee first is the "worst thing" she does, it is perfectly acceptable.

Mental Clarity Through Journaling and Visualization

Central to her routine is "alone time," a period dedicated to grounding herself before the demands of the day begin. She utilizes a structured journaling practice that serves as an anchor:

  • Gratitude: She lists three things she is grateful for, a practice she admits sounds "cliche" but is essential for pulling her out of the "negative things" that life can sometimes impose.
  • Goal Setting: By identifying three daily goals, she utilizes a "small wins" approach, breaking down larger objectives into achievable, everyday accomplishments.
  • Intentional Visualization: Rather than traditional meditation, which she finds difficult, she uses a form of "pseudo meditating" to visualize experiences she wants to "attract into my life." This active mental practice helps her focus on positive future manifestations.

Physical Wellness and Self-Care Rituals

After setting her intentions, the speaker moves into physical care, which includes a specific focus on facial health. She has been "very religious" about her daily "gua sha" practice, noting that it has made a significant difference in reducing the "puffiness" associated with water retention upon waking. Her skincare philosophy is practical, emphasizing the necessity of "SPF" protection, regardless of whether she is heading to the gym or staying home.

Fueling the Body: Quick and Nutritious Choices

When it comes to nutrition, the speaker favors meals that are "quick and simple." A staple in her routine is the yogurt bowl, topped with "chia seeds" and granola. She emphasizes that while her breakfast choices vary—ranging from eggs and toast to eggs with avocado—the goal is always to incorporate "protein" and maintain an overall healthy balance, proving that nourishment does not need to be time-consuming.

Flexibility in Movement and Personal Style

Her approach to fitness is marked by flexibility rather than rigid discipline. While she expresses excitement for "boxing," she emphasizes that her routine is not always perfect. Some days include Pilates or a morning walk, while other days, when time is scarce, she chooses not to work out at all. She also shares personal grooming tips, such as opting for a "braided ponytail" for boxing to keep hair secure, and her preference for a "no fuss" makeup look—often skipping mascara because she hates the removal process, preferring to focus on filling in her brows for a natural aesthetic.

Final Reflections

Ultimately, the speaker’s routine is not about perfection, but about creating a "proper morning" that serves her individual needs. By integrating moments of gratitude, intentional movement, and simplified self-care, she manages to maintain a sense of calm and structure during the challenging winter season. Her routine serves as a reminder that the most effective morning habits are the ones that are sustainable, forgiving, and tailored to one's own lifestyle.

📖 Transcript

It's been a few years since I filmed a morning routine and I thought what better time to do an update than during the cold, dark wintry months when it's super hard to get out of bed.
This morning my alarm woke me up at 6 30 and I have to say it wasn't as terrible as it used to be.
This alarm clock has really changed my life.
I usually don't drink water during the night, so the first thing I do when I get up is go to the kitchen and drink a ton of water and just rehydrate my body.
And then naturally I make myself my morning coffee.
This is one of those things that I just cannot let go.
