Good morning and welcome to Kid News.
I'm Kim.
Today is Thursday, October 2nd, 2025.
And we begin with Chunk the Champ.
The grizzled veteran was crowned Fat Bear Week winner after what Katmai National Park in Alaska says was a record-breaking week of public voting.
More than 15 million people weighed in on the competition, which was designed 11 years ago to create public awareness about the bears and their ecosystem.
32-chunk earned 96350 votes, despite suffering most of the season from a broken jaw which some feared would hamper his ability to fish and fatten up.
But he persevered and plumped, beating runner-up Bear 856 by more than 30,000 votes.
Chunk was described in The Guardian as the most dominant brown bear on the river and captivated voters who watched him gain girth beyond what anybody could have possibly imagined with that injury.
The beloved Blue Angels may be grounded during San Francisco's Fleet Week if the US government remains offline due to the government shutdown.
But our friends to the north may help save the day.
As of this recording, Republicans and Democrats in Congress remain stuck in a stalemate that is impacting federal workers, including the Navy's aerial aces, who are set to perform starting Sunday.
But there's word that Canada's version, known as the Snowbirds, will still participate.
Navy's 250th anniversary.
Organizers say the festival will go on with international ship tours, concerts and performances, but that attractions involving the Marine Corps and Navy would likely be suspended.
Humberto and Imelda never made landfall, but you wouldn't know it, along the beaches of North Carolina.
Waves kicked up by both storms slammed the outer banks, pulling five oceanfront homes in the town of Buxton into the sea.
None of them were occupied and all collapsed within 45 minutes of each other on Tuesday.
That brings to 17 the number of houses that have collapsed in that area in just the past five years.
We'll be right back.
Ms.
Goodall reportedly died of natural causes while on a speaking tour of California.
Keep your eyes out for Dot, DoorDash's new adorable delivery driver.
The nearly five-foot-tall robot that Morning Brew calls a cross between Wally and Lightning McQueen rolled out deliveries in the Phoenix area this week.
The food box on wheels is built to travel up to 20 miles per hour on roads, bike lanes and sidewalks, and can carry up to 30 pounds, with space for up to six pizzas.
DoorDash plans to introduce DOT in other cities if successful, and has recently partnered with autonomous drone company Flytrex to eventually dash food to your door by air.
Two Golden State Warriors will don the Curry jersey next season.
Seth Curry, Steph's younger brother, has agreed to sign a one-year deal, according to ESPN, bolstering the Warriors' backcourt with the family name and his own shooting skill set.
The 6'1 guard has played in the NBA for 11 years, most recently for the Charlotte Hornets last season, but this will be the first time the brothers have played for the same team.
Still ahead, Kiwis pick their bird of the year.
But first, we want to welcome Atticus Doshi Becker of San Francisco, California to the teen years.

The annual poll run by conservation group forest and bird is taken very seriously by new zealanders who love their birds, even calling themselves kiwis.
