Hey there, Michelle.
What are you getting up to today?
Well, I am recording with you and we are having a good time today.
Everything's good.
How are you?
Feeling good.
Feeling good.
I'm excited to get into today's episode because we're talking about reviews today a little bit, which is really important for businesses and companies.
If you're a professional,
If you're a freelancer, that you work on a website where reviews are important, that really matters, doesn't it?
Yeah.
I mean, Lindsay, do you tend to write reviews of places that are good or bad or?
If I like.
If I have a good experience or a bad experience, I'm more likely.
If it's a neutral experience, I tend not to.
And I think that's why we have to be careful when we read reviews.
Right.
Because that's usually the case that people that are reviewing you are either angry or really happy.
You know what I mean?
Yes, exactly.
Yeah.
Yes.
So, um, yeah, I will recently because, um, I'm also a small business owner now.
And so I know how important the reviews are and how exciting it is to see the reviews.
And also with all there's English.
I mean, when we get our reviews, we're just like a little Christmas gift, right?
Right.
Exactly.
So I know how important they are and how much they mean.
And so, especially if I'm at a small business um Um, I really do like to give good reviews when they're necessary, you know, when they're called for.
And um uh, so yeah, but um and, like I said, we definitely ask for listener reviews from you guys when they're just so valuable.
Um, and a lot of times you'll be asked for a review.
Um, you know you'll be at a service and they'll say Oh, if you liked our service please.
Yeah.
You know, right.
Consider writing review.
Um, Um, but guys, you might be asked to do this as a part of your job, right?
Lindsay, you might have to be the one to ask for a review.
For sure.
So today we're covering, you know, there could be a lot of scenarios.
You may own a small business.
I know we have some entrepreneurs here in our audience.
You may be a freelancer and especially if you work online remotely around the world.
The only thing you have is your reviews, right?
You may be gathering reviews for a product for a company.
If you work for a large company, Maybe you want to make sure products get reviewed right.
So a lot of context will show you today how you can ask for a review from your customers.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah Absolutely.
So I mean, and even if you don't have to do this, you are gonna hear these things.
So this is just really good to be aware of and understand what's going on.
So let's start with the basic one.
Would you mind leaving us a review?
Would you mind leaving us a review?
So thank you so much for coming.
I hope you enjoyed the services we provided.
Would you mind leaving us a review?
So this is if maybe you provide an in-person service like dentistry, right?
Like dentistry, right.
Right.
Um or uh.
This one is a little lengthier but, for example, if you're happy with the service we provided, it would be really helpful if you would write a review.
Yep.
So for example, thank you so much for coming.
We really enjoyed having you today.
If you're happy with the service we provided.
It would be really helpful if you could write a review again.
Feeling a little repetitive there, but uh, but it's.
You know they're all similar.
I mean, But sometimes you might also be told about a survey that you will receive.
Right, right.
So when I went on a cruise, they stressed this.
You know, a lot of times you'll hear, oh, you're going to get a survey at the end.
Like it really makes a difference for us, right?
Have you ever heard that?
Yeah, I have.
For sure.
So you might hear something like, you will be getting a survey about your experience with us.
If you could fill it out, it really helps.
Yeah, nice.
So these are things you could say, or again that you might hear if you're a consumer of the product right, Michelle?
Yeah, exactly.
So and again, if somebody is bringing it to your attention, it really does matter.
So you know, you want to think about, you know, how valued it is.
And if you are, I mean there are just times when you can get the most incredible customer service.
You're just like Yes.
So, you know, like when you get good customer service, it's so touching, don't you think?
It's awesome.
Especially nowadays, for sure.
For sure.
Because everything moves so fast now.
People want that really good customer service.
And so, yeah, really good, really useful.
If you get a good, if you get good service, go and let people know, right?
Help the business out for sure.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah.
My day kicks off with a refreshing social Time for my fire station shift.
One more Celsius.
Gotta keep the lights on.
When the three alarm hits, I'm ready.
Celsius.
Live.
Fit.

So are there other things, Michelle, that we might think about saying if we are asking for a review?
What else could we say?
So let's say, you know, someone might prompt you.
So sometimes someone might say to you, you know, you might not be the one starting it.
Somebody might say to you, I mean, I've done this before.
I bought a table and I...
I loved the salesman.
I mean, he was just incredible and personable and I adored him.
And so I said, is there anywhere I can write a review?
And he ended up giving me his boss's email.
And I wrote a whole review and the email bounced back.
Oh, no, that's a bummer.
Yeah.
And I was like oh, I really like I was so excited to share what you know, because I'm one of those people.
I got really excited when people are nice.
That's awesome.
Well, it's nice.
It's nice to encourage kindness in the world, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
So I mean somebody like I said, somebody might prompt you, they might give you some sort of compliment.
And you could say, Oh, thank you so much.
If you could leave us a review, that would be great.
So again, it's more about not the specific words overall, but about like these contexts and like thinking about when is a good time to say something.
Are you going to be the first one to say something?
Are you waiting for something from them?
Right.
Right.
I think it's often more effective if they've come to you and said Oh, I um, you know I achieve success with your product.
I love your product.
I had a great experience buying your product.
That's a good time because that fits right into the conversation.
Right.
Yeah.
Or in that same vein, I'm so glad to hear that.
Or thank you for the feedback.
If you want to leave a review with your honest feedback, we really appreciate that.
Right.
And this one is really good, especially, I mean, for something like.
All ears English, something you know.
Some of these are better just for those situations.
A coffee shop, a you know, some sort of in-person customer service?
Right.
But some are for actual products, courses, things like that to leave reviews on as well.
So getting feedback on a course or some sort of product, you can say this too.
I guess I would say, I mean, I like the basics of, thank you so much.
If you could leave us a review, that would be great.
Um, you know, we send out, like sometimes, if it's an in-person service, I mean at the dental office we send out text messages at night asking for nice, you know saying oh, if you enjoy.
You know um, so sometimes you might get in a text message or an email even.
For sure.
I mean.
The point is, if your job relies on this and many people's jobs do rely on social proof is what we call it then we need to have the right words right.
Yeah. to ask for this because you don't want to ruin the vibe.
Someone's excited about you.
And then if you ask in the wrong way, you might ruin that vibe and they may not want to give it to you.
Right?
Yeah.
So should we do a role play, Michelle, and see what this looks like?
Let's do it.
We're just going to use one to show how it would go.
So here you are a customer in my coffee shop.
Nice.
That's fun.
I would love to own a coffee shop one day.
Wouldn't that be fun?
Yes, it would be fun.
Wow.
This is delicious coffee.
Oh, thank you.
Glad you like it.
And the service here is excellent.
I'm so glad I tried this place out.
Oh, thank you so much.
If you could leave us a review, that would be great.
Absolutely.
Yes, definitely.
Reviews help really help us grow our business.
I will write it right now.
Thank you very nice.
Sounded very natural right, because i made a compliment.
It wasn't unsolicited, right?
I went ahead and made a compliment and then you follow that up with a very natural oh.
Thank you so much.
If you could leave us a review, that would be great right, love it exactly.
So yeah again, these are really important connection moments.
If you like someone's service, if you like someone's product, tell them.
I even tell oh my gosh, I'm a little bit of an over compliment, or I think um, I'll be like I'll be at the cardiologist and I'm like you are the best doctor in the world.
I'll be like, you make such a difference in the world.
Like, I just like really like lay it on because I do.
I think especially, um, in the medical field, there's a lot of just one foot out the door.
And so when you do get good um, you know a good feeling from a doctor, and you're like oh, I found someone I trust.
They take the time.
It seems like they actually care.
It's like, ah, it's really a big win.
No, that's amazing.
That's good.
And, just like I said like ah, highlighting kindness actually is a good mental practice because that makes you find more kindness and more good in the world.
The mind starts to look for that which makes you happier.
Uh, this is a proven principle that we look at when i, when i because i study buddhism and meditation it actually changes your brain, the circuits of your brain.
It's incredible.
You mean, if people are kind to you, or if you're kind to people, or if, if you find kindness in the world and you like think about that, you don't even have to say anything, you just like dwell on it in your brain for a minute, like that person was really kind, that's so beautiful, then your brain starts to look for more events like that and that actually finds happiness in the mind.
Yeah, that's like proven neuroscience.
It's really, really interesting.
So sounds like you're headed in the right direction, michelle.
Yeah,
What's another episode our listeners could go to?
