📋 Summary

The Escalating Threat

In the ninth installment of the Missing Person series, private detective Darren Reeves finds himself in an increasingly dangerous situation. Following the hit-and-run incident involving Anne Prado, Reeves receives a chilling voicemail warning him to "stop trying to find Sarah Salas" or face death. This development forces Reeves to question the scope of the conspiracy, specifically wondering if the initial suspect, Lenny McKay, is "part of this kidnapping in some way." Feeling he has "more questions than answers," Reeves turns to his contact, Officer Cho, for official support.

Investigating the Red Car

Officer Cho provides a crucial lead: the "mysterious red car" that struck Anne belongs to John Costello, a 37-year-old resident of Santa Monica. This discovery sets the stage for the next phase of the investigation. After ensuring Anne is stable at the hospital and promising to "give her a ride home" later that day, Reeves shifts his focus to the second person of interest: June Brown, a former employee of Prado Computers.

Confrontation at the Beach

Reeves travels to a clothing store at the beach, which he describes as a place where "the sun is always shining" and "surfers are riding the waves." Upon entering the store, he attempts to locate June Brown. His interaction with the staff and eventually June herself is immediately hostile. When he identifies himself as a "private detective," June becomes defensive. She refuses to provide a clear alibi, claiming she was with her boyfriend, but reacts with sudden anger when Reeves asks to speak with him.

Unresolved Suspicions

June’s behavior—crossing her arms and aggressively telling him to "get out of my store"—only heightens Reeves's suspicion. He contemplates the possibility that June and her boyfriend are attempting to "get even with Prado Computers," a motive rooted in revenge. Despite his efforts, the encounter ends in a stalemate, leaving Reeves with nothing but speculative theories. The episode concludes with the detective left in a state of uncertainty, repeating the mantra, "Maybe, maybe, maybe," as he prepares to track down John Costello in the upcoming tenth episode.
