📋 Summary

Investigation Update: The Hit-and-Run and the Alibi

In this installment of the "Missing Person" series, Dr. Darren Reeves finds himself navigating a dangerous web of clues after a near-fatal incident involving his student, Anne Prado. The episode, titled "Tracing the Plates," highlights the convergence of the investigation into the disappearance of Sarah Prado and a direct threat against the investigator himself.

The Freeway Incident

Dr. Reeves arrives at a freeway accident scene to find that Anne Prado has been struck by a vehicle. Despite being injured, Anne provides a critical piece of evidence: the license plate number of the vehicle that hit her, "3XZW451." She describes the assailant as driving a "red car" that was "going very fast" and believes the perpetrator "tried to kill" her. Dr. Reeves leverages his connection with Officer Cho to "trace the plates," seeking information on the "car registration" to identify the owner of the vehicle.

Clearing a Suspect

Following the accident, Dr. Reeves proceeds to a bar near the airport to confront a suspect, Lenny McKay, a former employee of Prado Computers. Upon entering, the atmosphere is described as smelling of "old beer, old cigarettes, and old men." When the bartender denies Lenny’s presence, Dr. Reeves ignores a "Do not enter" sign to locate him in the back room.

Lenny provides an alibi, claiming he was in "Las Vegas" with his girlfriend, Tanya. Dr. Reeves verifies this by speaking to Tanya, who confirms, "I was in Las Vegas with my boyfriend, Lenny." This interaction allows Dr. Reeves to "clear someone of suspicion," concluding that Lenny was not involved in the kidnapping of Sarah Salas.

A Chilling Threat

As the investigation continues to unfold, the stakes escalate significantly. After returning to his apartment late at night, Dr. Reeves checks his "voicemail" and discovers a single, ominous message. A man with a "very deep voice" delivers a direct ultimatum: "Darren Reeves, stop trying to find Sarah Salas. If you don't stop looking for her now, you will die." This threat marks a turning point in the mystery, transforming a professional investigation into a life-threatening situation for Dr. Reeves.
