播客中坦言,虽然享受化妆带来的"relaxing and fun"以及见证"transformation"的过程,但更深层的感受是"so much pressure on looking pretty and put together all the time"。

购买红色指甲油时感到"jittery",涂抹时却感受到了如同做"forbidden"之事般的"adrenaline" rush,最终发现这让脚趾"bringing my toes to life"。

这些经历指向了一个核心教训:"not be so sure about what you think you're sure of"。 即便在购买杂货时,这种分类也充满了人性的复杂:既有像西红柿那样"always want to have at home"的必需品,也有像 Sambal Oelek 那样只是"kinds want to have it... in case I want to use it"的冲动消费,甚至是因某个遗忘的食谱而特意购买的"green lentils"。

📖 Transcript

Because on one hand, I think it's kind of relaxing and fun.
I enjoy trying different products, getting ready, seeing the transformation.
On the other hand, I feel like there is so much pressure on looking pretty and put together all the time.
One thing that horrifies me is whenever there is a photo or a video of a public figure or a celebrity online somewhere, the comments are always always, always focused on the looks.
This person's skin looks this way they aged poorly.
I feel like as a society, we're just so focused on looks all the time, and it's honestly terrifying.
