Oh, I love today's expression, it's kind of fun.
You guys know I live in the United States, I live in America, and it's true many of us have guns and where I live I live in the country right actually one of my neighbors builds guns he makes guns real guns uh and to be honest uh as far as I know every single one of my neighbors has guns uh and we have zero
problems never any gun issues where I live.
It's very safe because everybody has guns.
It's crazy. I know compared to so many countries.
America's just crazy.
Anyway, speaking of guns, we do have a great expression for you, an idiom.
So I hope you enjoy it.
Let's go back in time.
Today's expression is i'm sticking to my guns i'm sticking to my guns i am i'm or when we say it fast i'm sticking s -t -i -c -k -i -n -g but when we say it fast stickin i'm stickin to t -o -my guns g -u -n -s I'm sticking to my guns I'm sticking to my guns I'm sticking to my guns I'm sticking to my guns What does
this expression mean?
It sounds like a dangerous expression But actually what it means is I am not going to change what I believe I am going to continue doing what I said I would do.
I'm not going to stop.
So why does stick to my guns mean refuse to change your beliefs or ideas?
Well, imagine this.
Imagine you are a soldier and you're in war and you're fighting the enemy, but you see, you can sense that you will lose.
The enemy will win.
Do you give up or do you keep holding your gun and continue fighting?
now once again i do not like war i don't like fighting but imagine the situation as a soldier and many soldiers will keep fighting they'll keep fighting even though they know they will lose they are sticking to their guns they are fighting for their country they're fighting for their cause for their
belief. And that's the idea to stick to your guns.
It can be a very good thing.
But sometimes refusing to change your ideas, it's not always a good thing.
So it depends on the situation.
Now I have a dialogue and in the dialogue, you will see that sticking to my guns can be a very good thing.

Doing YouTube videos and podcasts every day is tough, isn't it?
It is. It takes a lot of time.
You should take a break.
Not yet. I'm sticking to my guns.
I told my students that I would produce a new video and a new podcast every day.
I'm going to do that.
That's right. That's what I promised you guys.
A new podcast every day on YouTube, a new video every day, and I'm doing it.
Gosh, so for us on the podcast, it's been 59 days in a row, and on YouTube, we already are on expression 511.
Now, I did miss a couple of days.
I was sick, or I was moving or there was some other problem.
But hopefully I'll have no problems with the podcast and I can produce one every single day.
It is daily easy English expression.
So I'm sticking to my guns.
I'm going to continue producing a new podcast, a new video every day.
So can you think of an example for you in your life where you stick to your guns?
Even though everybody says you're wrong, you should change, stop doing it.
You refuse because you believe you are right or you believe that your actions are good.
Can you think of an example when you stick to your guns?
