Easy English Expression, rehashed!
Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English!
Hello, everybody.
Coach Shane here.
How was your July?
It's July 2026 when I'm recording this.
It is so hot and muggy, M-U-G-G-Y.
That's like humid, a lot of water in the air.
The air just doesn't move.
I hope you're feeling fresh.
That's for sure.
Actually today's e-cubed expression number 479 has fresh in the expression, but it doesn't mean like fresh air.
It's a great expression.
Check it out.
Let's go back in time.
All right.
Today's expression.
Listen carefully to be fresh out of something.
I'm fresh out of ideas.
I'm fresh out of humor.
So what does this mean?
To be out of something means you don't have any more.
So for example, I am out of cookies.
I do not have any cookies.
I am out of bread.
I do not have any bread.
I need to go to the store.
To be fresh, F-R-E-S-H, out of something means suddenly.
Now you see, boom, there is none.
To be fresh out of something means we are completely out, and also it usually means we just left, ran out.
Like five minutes ago, the last cookie was eaten.
This is the idea of fresh out of something.
So once again, it has two kind of meanings to it.
Number one is completely out, zero, nothing.
And the other one is Very recently, you went out.
You ran out.
Okay?
So it's a very great expression.
You can use it today.
But first, let me give you a dialogue.
I'm going to the store.
Great.
We're fresh out of milk.
Anything else?
We could use some sugar and lettuce, too.
What a good husband.
Now, usually when husbands say, I'm going to the store, it means they're going to buy beer.
But he's offering his Delivery services to his wife.
So he's also going to be getting milk, sugar and lettuce.
What a good husband.
The wife says we are fresh out of milk.
Probably she just used the last of the milk.
So they're going to need some more milk.
And oh, my God, I think I am actually fresh out of milk.
How will I have my coffee in the morning?
Oh, boy.
I guess I could go to the store right now.
Yeah.
Oh, but wait.
Oh man, I'm fresh out of money.
I don't have any money.
I used my last $3 at the store earlier.
I bought some lettuce and now I have no cash.
That means I have to go to the bank.
Oh well, I guess I just had better go to bed.
Now, what about you?
Go to your refrigerator right now and look around, find something that is almost gone, and then eat it.
And then you can tell yourself or your wife or your husband or your mom or your dad hey mom, we're fresh out of milk.
What are you talking about?
There's milk in the refrigerator.
No, mom, I just drank it.
We're fresh out.
There is no more.
I just drank it.
Mom, go buy milk.
And then your mom will tell you to go buy milk.
To be fresh out of something.
You are completely out of something or you just ran out of something.
Look in your refrigerator.
Eat the last of whatever you have and use this expression.
And I want you to tweet me what it is that you are fresh out of.
And by the way, it's not just food and things like that.
It can be fresh out of ink for your printer.
It can be fresh out of ideas for daily, easy english.
Whatever it is, you have no more.
This is the idea.
Make some examples and tweet me once again twitter.
My handle is at.
That's the at sign.

Uh, we could use some sugar and lettuce too.
