Today's expression is a poor excuse.
P-O-O-R, a poor excuse.
This is a great expression, and what it means is a bad excuse.
And not a good excuse.
So, for example, Shane, why did you come to work late today?
Oh, I came to work late because I was sick.
Do you believe me?
Of course not.
You can tell I'm lying.
I'm thinking.
I'm thinking.
Shane, why is your homework?
Where is your homework?
Where?
Oh, my dog ate my homework.
Do you believe me?
Of course not.
That's a poor excuse.
It's a stupid excuse.
It's a bad excuse.
You know, if you have done something wrong, why don't you just say the truth?
Tell the truth.
Most people can't.
I understand.
Yeah, most people don't.
They like to make excuses.
Well, if you make an excuse, a reason why you failed or you couldn't do something, don't make it a poor excuse.
Let's check out the dialogue.
He broke up with you?
Why?
He said, you're too good for me.
Oh, that's a poor excuse.
He has a woman.

Yeah.
Have you ever had a boyfriend, a girlfriend?
Did you break up with the person?
What was your reason for ending the relationship?
Did you say something like, honey, you are such a good person and you are too good for me.
You need to find a better man.
Was that your excuse?
That's a poor excuse.
You're a liar.
You already had a girlfriend.
That's why you said that.
Honey, I'm nothing.
You are something special.
You need to find a good man, a special man.
That's a poor excuse.
That's a terrible excuse.
Yeah, that's not true.
Oh, maybe it is.
Maybe you are just a really loser person.
I'm sure you're not.
A poor excuse.
If you can't do something on time, if you fail at something, if you're going to break up with somebody, what is your reason?
What's the reason?
Can you give the person the real reason?
If you cannot give the person the real reason, then you have to make up an excuse.
You have to create.
An excuse, which is lying.
And boy, oh boy, I hope you don't lie.
But many of us do.
Many of us do.
So remember, if you're going to make an excuse, do not make a poor excuse.
It makes you look really stupid.
Yeah, don't do it.
Be careful.
