Easy English Expression, rehashed!
Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English!
Hello, everybody.
Coach Shane here.
We've got EQ's Easy English Expression number 487 coming at you today.
Great expression.
Very, very good expression.
It describes me.
I think it describes many English teachers.
I hope, I really hope it does not describe you.
But it might describe some of us.
Great expression.
By the way, one of the reasons this expression describes me is because I do too much free stuff.
And speaking of free, join my, it's my community.
It's free.
At least, you know, make me happy.

Let's go back in time.
Today's expression is very good.
It's unfortunately true for probably many of us.
Dead broke.
I'm dead broke.
Hey Shane, let's go to McDonald's for lunch.
I can't.
I'm dead broke.
Hey, Shane, why do you live in this little tiny apartment?
Why don't you get a bigger place?
I can't.
I'm dead broke.
Shane, your car is too old.
Why don't you get a new car?
I can't.
I'm dead broke.
I have no money to go to McDonald's, no money to move, no money to get a new car.
I'm dead broke, and this happens to all of us.
Even if you have money, you can be dead broke.
The idea of dead broke means you have nothing, specifically in your pocket.
Now, maybe in your bank account, you have millions of dollars.
Maybe in your savings account, there's lots of money.
But in your spending account, there's no money.
So for me, in my case, I have a monthly budget.
And it's not a lot.
But I do my best to keep my monthly budget.
And at the end of the month, for about four or five days, I am dead broke.
I got nothing.
I don't have anything.
No money.
Hold on.
$10.
35.
Right now I got 35.
I got more here.
I have...
40 cents
I have 40 cents until friday and then friday i have my new weekly budget so i have 40 cents to last me three days
This is not good but it's okay
Today i went to the store and i bought some chocolate and things so i'm okay
But for the rest of the week until friday
Unless something costs 40 cents, I'm dead broke.
Already.
What about you?
Let's check out the dialogue.
Did you hear what Hillary Clinton said?
No, what?
After Bill retired as president, they were dead broke.
What?
Dead broke?
Tell her to come live with us.
She'll see dead broke.
Hillary Clinton, I'm not teasing her.
It's all those people.
They like to say that they live just like you and me.
And when I say you and me, I mean the typical person.
And once again, I don't know.
Do rich people say I'm dead broke?
Hillary Clinton is not dead broke.
I guarantee you that.
They make lots of money.
I think they have their book sales.
They have their speeches.
They have the retirement.
I'm sure financially they're doing fine, but she did say that she was dead broke.
Can you believe that?
Whatever, politicians are all the same, all the same.
But no, it's true.
Anybody can be dead broke.
Now, if you're really dead broke.
That's a terrible, tragic thing.
You don't have a house.
You don't have food.
You don't have any clothes or money to buy clothes.
Yeah, that's a really tragic thing.
But we use this expression, everybody.
We use this expression when we have no cash.
When our pockets are empty of money.
When we have spent our monthly budget.
Or, in my case, my weekly budget.
Every Friday, I give myself some money to spend.
And I can buy coffee and ice cream and chocolate.
You know, whatever.
I can go fishing and get some fishing stuff.
Things like that.
It's my free money.
It's not much, but I already spent it.
I actually spent all my money on Sunday.
So I got Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday until I get some more money.
And then...
The weekend weather should be pretty good, so I'll go fishing.
So I'll probably spend my money again.
But hey, I don't mind being dead broke.
It's good discipline.
So tell me right now, right now, it's what, Tuesday for almost everybody?
How are you doing?
Are you dead broke?
Already?
I hope not.
What day of the week are you usually dead broke?
Or what day of the month?
Are you usually dead broke?
I want to know.

Oh, and by the way, thank you everybody for your well wishes.
I went to the doctor today to check some...
Some spots on my body for skin cancer.
I've had skin cancer before.
And after a couple of weeks, I should get the results.
The doctor checked three areas, one in the back of my head, one inside my ear and one on my back.
So hopefully he'll find nothing.
But once again, thank you very much for your well wishes.
Oh yeah gotta be strong got i and i gotta save my money so i can pay the damn doctor bill otherwise i'll be dead broke for the rest of the year
That's it everybody
Have a fantastic day
