Easy English expression, rehashed.
Hello, everybody. My name is Coach Shane, and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English.
Coach Shane here. How are you doing today?
I hope that your Taco Tuesday is fantastic.
Oh, boy, today's expression is really good.
Now, actually, when I recorded this E cubed, it was the summer, the original recording.
But now this expression is perfect because for many of us, not all of us, but for many of us, it is the winter.
And if you know, last week I was sick.
I could have used this expression.
Let's go back in time.
Today's podcast is brought to you by Kim Kyung He, Ricardo Casel, Kim A Kyung, Andriva Olga and Hyuk Oh.
Thank you so much, the five of you for signing up on Patreon to help me out.
And Andriva Olga for your donation, too.
It helps so much. I sincerely appreciate it.
So everybody give a thank you to these five wonderful people.
They're bringing you today's expression and today's expression.
Oh, it's a it's a good one, but hopefully it does not affect you to come down with something.
So this is a phrasal verb to come down with.
Yes, three words to come down with something.
I think I'm coming down with.
A cold. It means I think I'm getting a cold.
We're talking about the sickness to be to have a cold, not to be cold.
It's cold. No, not that cold.
You know. Oh. Oh, God, I don't feel good.
I think I'm coming down with the cold.
This is a good expression.
Are you coming down with something?
Are you getting sick?
Are you starting to feel sick?
Are you feeling OK?
So, you know, for a lot of us, most of us live in the northern hemisphere, so it's summer for us, but we do have a lot of listeners who live in the southern hemisphere in Brazil, Chile, in Australia, maybe even parts of southern Africa.
So how are you guys?
It's the winter down there.
Are you guys feeling healthy?
Is any is anybody coming down with anything these days?
Are you feeling sick?
I hope you're doing OK.
Yeah. To come down with something is no fun.
Let's check out the dialogue.
You don't look too good.
I feel terrible. Are you coming down with the cold?
I think so. I'd better buy lots of vitamin C.
Yeah, that guy sounds pretty sick.
I think so. I'd better.
I had better buy lots of vitamin C.
I don't know. Is that true?
If you take lots of vitamin C, will that help prevent a person from catching a cold?
I hope so. So to come down with something almost always means a cold or the flu.
It could be something else, but 95 percent of the time, if you hear somebody say, I'm coming down with something, it means they're probably catching a cold.
So stay away from that person.
Wash your hands. Tell the person to get out of there.
Go take some cold medicine.
Don't spread the germs.
No, I'm just joking.
Be nice to the person.
But don't be careful, everybody.
Don't catch a cold.
I don't want any of you coming down with anything.
OK. All right. Let's check out that dialog two more times.
You don't look too good.
I feel terrible. Are you coming down with a cold?
I think so. I'd better buy lots of vitamin C.
