Hello my friends and welcome back to the English with Neil Learn English Podcast.
How's everyone doing today?
This episode was requested by Wesley from Brazil.
So shout out to Wesley from Brazil.
And he wanted me to do an episode on time management.
But I wanted to go just a little bit deeper and talk about life management, because time management is really about how we manage our lives.
But before we talk about life management, I think the important thing that we need to figure out first is our values.
What are our values?
What are the things that are most important in our lives?
Do you value money?
Do you value freedom?
Education?
Health?
Close relationships?
When you figure out your values.
Then you can know. where you're spending the most time.
And everyone has different values.
Everyone is going to spend their time differently.
And once you figure out your values, then you know your priorities.
You know what's number one.
You know what's number two.
So I think you manage your life by your values.
I think this is at the core of time management.
Our values are at the core of life management, because managing something is about controlling something right or it's about enforcing some rules over something.
Just like at a job.
The manager at the job is enforcing the rules or he's overseeing the rules.
The company is going to run dependent on the values of the company.
If the company values freedom and creativity, then the manager is going to give value to freedom and creativity.
But if the company values strict policies, then the manager is going to act accordingly.
So really life management is about our values.
Some of the things that I value in my life are independent thinking.
Being an independent thinker.
I love reading books.
I love listening to podcasts.
But I like to make my own decisions.
I don't just like to follow the masses.
I like to do my own research.
That's what I value.
I also value being independent.
Not relying on people for things or completely relying on technology.
Because if those people in technology are around, are not around, excuse me, then what would I do?
So I value independence.
And so these are some of the things that I try to teach to my kids.
Being independent.
Being resourceful.
Having good problem solving skills.
These are the things that I value.
And so I place a lot of importance on them.
So at the end of the day, time management is about life management.
And we manage our lives according to our values.
All right, everyone.
That is it for today's episode.
Thank you for tuning in to the English with Neil podcast.
I look forward to speaking with you in the next one.
Take care, everyone, and talk to you soon.
Peace.
