Hello listeners and welcome back to the english with neil learn english podcast.
How is everyone doing today?
In this episode, we are going to talk about how to conquer self-doubt.
So the word conquer means to beat or to be successful with something to conquer, right to win, to be victorious, And the word doubt means to be indecisive or insecure.
You can also say doubt is having very low confidence.
So I'd like to give you some ideas today.
So that you can conquer self-doubt if you have any of that in your life.
Now when I was growing up, I experienced self-doubt a lot.
And to be honest, I don't know where it came from.
But I had very low self-esteem, very low confidence in myself.
But over the years, I have learned how to transform my mind.
And by transforming my mind, I was able to transform my life.
I haven't experienced self-doubt in years I mean literally years because I feel like I just completely eradicated self-doubt from my life.
And I want to share some ideas with you to help you if you are dealing with any self-doubt in your life.
And the first one that I want to say.
Is that we have to change our can'ts to can.
So usually if someone is experiencing self-doubt, they always say I can't.
I can't do that.
It's too hard.
Oh, I can't.
No, that's impossible.
Oh, me?
Now I can't do that.
There's this constant toxicity of negativity.
It's always I can't, I can't, I can't.
Now, this is going to take some practice, but the next time you find yourself saying I can't, replace that can't with can.
I can do this.
I can do that.
I can give that speech.
I can do it and at first it's going to feel very, very uncomfortable, almost fake.
But changing your camp To can is one of the easiest ways that you can reprogram your mind to have more self-esteem.
Self-esteem is the idea of how we feel about ourselves.
If someone has high self-esteem, they feel really good about themselves.
They feel really valuable.
They feel valuable in life.
So one of the ways to conquer Self-doubt is by raising our self-esteem, and we can raise our self-esteem by telling ourselves that we can instead of I can't.
And the next idea that I'd like to share with you.
Is to compliment yourself.
I think the main reason why I haven't experienced any self-doubt in a long time is because I always compliment myself.
I always tell myself I'm doing a good job.
I'm working hard.
I'm proud of myself.
And I really mean it.
I really mean it deep down in my heart.
I know that I'm doing a good job.
And I always compliment myself.
Another word for complimenting yourself is to praise yourself.
Say, hey, I'm doing a good job.
Wow, I feel good about myself.
I feel good about the work that I did today.
And like I said, when you start this practice, it's going to feel very awkward.
Because you're not used to talking to yourself like this.
But it just takes practice.
Every day, at the end of the day, when you come home from work, before you go to bed, compliment yourself.
Tell yourself something good about yourself.
Talk about how good of a family member you are.
Talk about how good of a friend you are.
Talk about something that you did good at work.
Remind yourself the compliments that other people gave you.
Compliment yourself.
And this is going to help you raise your self-esteem.
This is going to help you feel good about yourself.
And the better that you feel about yourself, the less self-doubt you have.
I'm gonna repeat that.
The better you feel about yourself, the less self-doubt that you'll have.
So, starting today, starting today, I want you to make a promise that you are going to feel good about yourself.
Say the words, I feel good.
I'm confident.
And start to change your mind.
Start to develop a more positive outlook on life.
And your life is going to change.
Your life is going to completely change because you are going to have a new mindset.
So how to conquer self-doubt?
One, replace your can't with can.
Start saying I can.
I can.
I can.
I can.
And number two, compliment yourself.
Always remind yourself that you're doing a good job.
Always remind yourself that you are valuable.
Always remind yourself that you love yourself.
And that you can do a good job.
Alright everyone.
That is it for today's episode.
