Hi there, my name is Dora and welcome to Radiohead Space.
Yesterday, I finished a book that had been recommended to me by no less than five friends.
It was one of those, this will change your life, type of books.
And as I read the last page, I had this weird moment of panic because I caught myself thinking, okay, so am I supposed to be fully evolved now?
Like, did I do it? Am I changed?
Do I just maintain this level of wisdom forever?
And of course, five minutes later, I did something that was the complete opposite.
I'm only human, right?
I went on Instagram, I saw a picture of my ex -best friend.
Then I googled, actually googled, How to tell if your ex bestie is truly happy with their new best friend or if it's just a front for Instagram.
Like I thought I was deep in my personal growth era, but there I was, spiraling into the world's most unnecessary and unhelpful internet search. And then, that's when it hit me, you don't finish learning.
You don't graduate from growth.
No matter how much progress you make, you're still gonna be a person who occasionally Googles things like how not to care that your ex -best friend has a new best friend.
And honestly, that's a good thing because the goal was never to arrive.
It was always to keep going.
We love tied up with a perfect bow completion.
Finish a book and you've learned the lesson.
Get a degree and now you're an expert.
Reach a goal and now you're done improving.
But real growth doesn't work like that.
Every time you think you've made it, a new level reveals itself.
And there's an old story that speaks to this.
A young man and traveled across Japan to train under a legendary martial arts master.
For years, he trained tirelessly, perfecting every technique, following every lesson.
One day, the teacher watched the student practice and said, you've learned everything I have to teach. You are now a master.
The student was stunned.
He had expected to feel different, more complete, more finished.
but instead he felt like a beginner again and that's when he understood the real lesson wasn't just about the technique, it was that true mastery means never stopping your practice because the moment you think that you've arrived that's when you stop growing.
We all have moments where we expect to feel finished we think a promotion will make us feel secure, we think success will make us feel confident, we think learning something new will make us feel like we finally get it.
But the truth is, every finish line is just a starting line for something else.
You don't arrive at wisdom.
You don't complete self -improvement.
The goal isn't to be done.
The goal is to keep learning, keep evolving, and keep becoming.
So today, if you're feeling like you should have it all figured out by now, I invite you to gently let that go.
Because growth isn't something you graduate from, it's something you practice for the rest of your life.
And the best part? There's always more to discover.
So sit with that to take it in, and I'll see you back here next week.
Thanks so much. You
