Welcome to Before Breakfast, a production of iHeartRadio.
Good morning. This is Laura.
Welcome to the Before Breakfast podcast.
Today's tip is that if you are looking for opportunities to spend more time with your partner, try a weekday breakfast date.
so lots of people would like to spend more time with their significant other but if you are like a lot of busy parents and professionals i hear from couple time can be hard to find so try thinking outside the weekend evening box one great option is a weekday breakfast date Now, I know mornings might feel
a little bit frantic, but hear me out.
It is quite possible that your daycare opens at least a little while before you need to be at work.
Or you get the kids on the bus at, let's say, 8 .10, but don't generally have your first Zoom meeting in your home office until 9 a .m.
Even if you do generally start work right after your kids start school or childcare, care, you probably do have some child care on weekday mornings, so you won't have to spend extra effort finding it if you can make space in your schedule.
That means that this time option might be available with less fuss than a lot of other times.
If you both happen to work from home someday, try an at -home breakfast date.
It can be special, like an omelet or pastries you picked up the day before, but honestly, it could just be cereal.
The food doesn't have to be elaborate for this time to feel meaningful.
If one or both of you transport kids to school, you could meet up at a coffee shop or diner or restaurant after drop -off for a breakfast date out.
Or you could do a quick meetup before you commute in different directions.
Even if you eat out, breakfast tends to be a fairly swift meal.
I am guessing you can fit this in in about 30 minutes or so.
But the payoff of that 30 minutes is a chance to connect and have alone time during what is going to feel like found time, because you might not have been using it for much else.
This can feel particularly special.
You will also shift the narrative that you never get to spend time alone together.
You do spend time together, even if you'd enjoy having more time for just the two of you.
Of course, breakfast dates aren't just for parents.
A breakfast date is just as much fun if you don't have little kids.
And without kids, it's probably easier to schedule.
If you don't have kids or if your kids are old enough that they can handle mornings independently, You and your partner could plan breakfast dates in or out.
Go early, or maybe just block off the 30 minutes at the start of the workday and start a little later.
While you certainly can do a last -minute breakfast date, if you plan ahead, you'll get to enjoy the anticipation.
And practically, planning ahead means that both of you can avoid scheduling something stressful too close to the start of the day if possible, so you don't feel rushed.
It's easy to find yourself saying you don't have time for various things that are important to you.
But often, with a little creativity, you can find time for your priorities.
So if you wish you had more alone time with your partner, breakfast dates just might be a way to get it.
In the meantime, this is Laura.
Thanks for listening.

Hey listeners, have you heard about Hill House Home?
I absolutely love them.
They created the viral nap dress, and it is the most flattering and comfy fit ever, with their signature smocking.
Celebrities like Taylor Swift and Mindy Kaling are fans, too.
What I adore about Hill House dresses is their versatility.
Wear one for errands by day and parties by night.
Plus, they offer more than dresses.
Think gorgeous bedding, soft bathrobes.
I can wear the same dress during the day and then head out for dinner at night without missing a beat.
Hill House Home's commitment to comfort and style doesn't stop at their dresses.
They started with bedding back in 2016, and their prints are just gorgeous.
Their bathrobes and pajamas are so soft because guess what?
The PJs are made with the same cotton fabric as their baby onesies.
So when I wear them, I literally sleep like a baby.
Hill House is perfect for all ages.
They have the cutest baby and kids items like tiny robes, onesies, and PJs you can monogram.
All just adorable. So get 15 % off your order of $100 or more at hillhousehome .com with code BRETTODAY by talking to your health care provider or visiting meetrejoin .com.
