totally rad totally awesome right yes that's right actually i'm kind of thinking a lot of these are going to be pretty much the same uh meaning so totally tubular just means awesome or extremely cool yeah totally tubular um what about rad i just use that so that's funny yeah rad means awesome or cool
a lot of these i know because when i was growing up watching cartoons in the 2000s i guess it was probably people from the 80s making these cartoons or yes and so they would include this in the cartoons i would watch so i'm like kind of familiar with it because of that so yeah even though i watched
cartoons in the 2000s people who were kids and teens in the 80s were using their slang and the cartoons i watched if that makes sense yeah you're probably watching like teenage mutant ninja turtles or something like that well i was watching like spongebob or like uh yeah things like yeah spongebob would definitely
be the writers would definitely have grown up in the 80s yeah that would be that would make sense yeah because stephen hillenberg was like he's probably like my mom's age or my dad's age around then so yeah yeah that's right that's right um okay so we did rad and we did tubular and then we did totally
tubular um what about uh bodacious uh okay i'm pretty sure i heard this in a rap song a long time ago but well is that mean it either means cool or like bodacious means like i'm not trying to be weird like it doesn't it also refer to a curvy body type i think what you're voluptuous no no they also use
the in a rap song to refer to a curvy body type but i think oh okay okay yeah yeah you're right yeah well it does it can mean like outstanding or attractive and i think you're right i think that it could be like a voluptuous woman uh right because of the song i'm thinking of they say good gracious bodacious
and they're talking about the girl so yeah i think yeah attractive or attractive yeah so it's a little bit different these are all like they're all just like a little little bit like different nuances of awesome like like good good you know what i mean it's like that's rad that's tubular she's bodacious
yeah uh what is a valley girl okay a valley girl is the like og valley girls i think were like paris hilton um i'm sure there was someone before then but she's like the og that i can think of valley girl it's like someone who talks with a nasally voice and she's from la or the valley she's from california in that area um
and they speak with like a certain lexicon like they use certain words and a certain tone and that's kind of a thing like la girl or california girl is like a valid girl yeah so so i'll go i'll go even uh more og like original gangster on you uh back to a uh an 80s group called the gogos and um they
don't even know who they are the gogos were um the ultimate uh valley girls right so they were they basically shot their music videos and they they came from the san fernando valley which is like if you if you know uh the layout the geography of california you've got hollywood and then you go kind of over
a mountain on the other side of that mountain there's a valley and it's called the san fernando valley where it's like north hollywood burbank um and then there's uh a whole bunch of like uh thousand oaks thousand oaks i think i can't remember all the um uh all the names of the the little cities out
there but um yeah so you have the valley and uh and it's basically a kind of uh middle upper middle class you know kind of uh living you know kids with with some money you know they had some money and uh they grew up um you know going shopping at the mall and you know by having a you know a nice car
that they can drive around town and hang out with their friends.
And they used to talk like this.
They would say like, oh, my God, like totally, you know, that kind of, you know, expressions like that.
And that was a valley girl.
And that became like a real stereotype that kind of spread across the whole United States, you know.
So there are people would imitate and copy that kind of speaking style and fashion and stuff like that, even in the Midwest.
um throughout the 80s but definitely um kind of um do you remember madonna did a material girl oh yeah so also yeah that era like very 1980s valley girl sorry that was a very long explanation of that no no you're fine you're fine yes okay madonna the go -go's yeah perry hilton britney spears maybe bye

and you're like they're like oh yeah you should we should totally go to that party later man yeah for sure for sure it's like yeah it doesn't necessarily absolutely yeah for sure yeah let's do it yeah for sure yeah i i use it too all the time i think i i just i think you like you said it's almost like
filler you know when someone's talking to you and it's like hey there's a party on friday uh let's go to the party you're like for sure for sure yeah let's let's do it um all right here's another one as if as if means that's never gonna happen they're like oh you want to go on a date with me as if means
no man are you kidding me i'm out of your league right there you go as if it's and it kind of means like as if that will ever happen you know it's exactly yeah it's very sarcastic you know yeah as if like that that's never going to happen you know um all right last one here we go uh barf me out um barf
me out means gross yes like gag me gag me with a spoon barf me out yeah barf me out yeah you know what I've realized about 80s is was very judgmental yeah do you know what I mean like like uh I'm just thinking of like like the kind of cool girls looking at like the the guy who's not that cool and just
being like as if ugh barf me out gag me with a spoon you know just like really people were really jerks in the 80s like I I don't know why but I think people are still jerks it's just that like you're not a teenager anymore I guess so it's like yeah maybe that's it but there was also one really specific
way to be cool back then I think and now it's like more there's just way there's less even when I was in high school it wasn't there weren't these you would watch movies about like the jocks and cheerleaders and all that but when by the time I got to high school there weren't really these defined groups
that way anymore no a lot of people were able to kind of balance in between multiple groups you know you could be a jock but you could also be a kind of goth but you could also be uh you know hanging out with this necessarily like jock wasn't like your whole personality or goth wasn't like your whole
personality you were kind of that probably comes from the drive to about college applications and how you had to be in as many different groups as possible now i think about it to get people to give a second look at your resume um and just it did force a lot more intermingling and there was less definition about what makes
a kid a cool kid um but yeah i definitely would say the 80s was more of a rigid time for sure yeah i mean nerds were were were just like smart people who were like to read books you know and it was like oh gross you know barf me out you like books and now you know now every now nerds rule the world
you know like nerd culture is is the cool culture like it's it's cool to be a nerd now right but when i was in school you know it was like you know you wouldn't never associate with like the band and like band you know um and i was in the band too so i was like i was i was on the basketball team and i
was in the band like i was a weird uh uh kind of like a day walker you know like half vampire half human you know yeah i i i i existed in in both nerd world and jock world, you know?
Yeah, you were in limbo for high school.
Exactly. Exactly. Are those all our slang for today?
