But for now, let's get on with the show.
Woo!
What a beautiful day for a little gardening.
Let me just turn on my old garden hose here.
There we go.
Some for you, Ms.
Petunia, and for you, Mr. Hydrangea.
Oh, we're thirsty today, aren't we?
Uh, ground control to Guy Raz.
What?
Uh, is that you, Mindy?
Huh?
What in the... Some friends and I for a smooth landing.
What?
And are you in an airplane?
Coming in for a landing.
Oh, no.
Watch out for the gingerbread mansion.
Phew.
Thanks for helping us land safely in front of the gingerbread mansion, Guyron.
It feels good to be back on the ground.
No problem.
I knew these walkie-talkies would come in handy sooner or later.
But what were you doing flying, and with these pigs?
Well, Guy Raz, remember when I told you that I was testing out my new plane and asked you if you would be my co-pilot.
Oh, yeah, I remember.
I said I would do it when pigs fly.
Well, here they are.
I'm teaching these pigs about flying and aerodynamics, the way the air moves around solid things.
And look, I built this airplane entirely out of paper.
You're flying around in a paper airplane?
Uh-huh.
Any interest in being my co-pilot now?
Maybe a flight attendant?
Uh, you know what?
I think we should just start the show.
Oh, right, the show.
Dust off the wings.
Rev up the engines.
We have?
And now for everyone's second favorite game show after giving everybody a bad case of the odds.
It's Two What's and a What? of two what's and a wow.
The scientific game show that separates the wows from the what's.
And the category for today is flying animals.
Mindy, why don't you refresh our contestants on how the game works?
You know it.
Wowzers, we are going to present you with three scientific statements about flying animals.
But, and this is a big but, only one of those statements will be a true wow.
The other two, just a couple of made up what?
Okay, let's get started.
Which of the following statements about flying animals is the true scientific wow?
Is it A, starfish use jet propulsion, to fly up to 36 feet per second?
Or is it B, flying fish can glide the distance of two football fields?
Or is it C, raccoons can flatten their bodies to soar more than 65 feet?
Okay Wowzers, when you think you've got the right answer, jot it down on a paper airplane and send it flying to the person farthest from you.
We're going to take a quick break and when we come back we'll find out if your wow is the winning wow.
To What's in the Wow, we'll be right back.
Grown-ups, this message is for you.

Okay, Wowzers, time is up.
It's time to reveal the winning wow.
But before we do, let's do a quick review.
We gave you three scientific statements about prehistoric animals and challenged you to guess which one was the one.
True, wow.
Was it A.
Starfish use jet propulsion to fly up to 36 feet per second.
Or was it B?
Flying fish can glide the distance of two football fields.
Or was it C?
Raccoons can flatten their bodies to soar more than 65 feet.
And to answer today's question, joining us by phone, it's Lucas from Decatur, Georgia.
Lucas?
What's the wow?
My round the world is that flying fish can fly over two football fields.
Winner, winner, Pegasus Wings for dinner.
Lucas, that is correct.
Contestants.
If you guessed the answer B that flying fish can fly over two football fields you found the winning.
Wow, congratulations.
Ichthyologist, also known as fish scientists, found that the flight process of the four-winged flying fish begins its ascent while it's still underwater.
When it reaches about 37 miles per hour, it angles upwards, breaks the surface and can go as high as four feet and as far as 655 feet.
And if you guessed A or C, you weren't too far off.
While I'm sure the starfish wishes it could whoosh through the air like a comet, it's actually the Japanese flying squid that pulls water into its body, shoots it out through its siphon and flies through the air at 36 feet per second.
And if you chose C.
See, raccoons have been known to be daredevils, but the truth is they cannot fly or glide.
However, the paradise tree snake can.
It simply flattens its body, throws itself into the air from a tree branch and glides more than 65 feet in a single bound.
Now, Guy Raz, why don't you tell our winning wowzers what they won?
Well Mindy, all of our winning contestants today will be taking home their very own invisible wall of wings.
The perfect prize for anyone who wants to fly, glide and travel through the air like fish snakes, frogs and squirrels.
Just strap on a set of wings from your wall of wings and take off.
Well, congratulations to all of our winning wowsers.
That's just about all the time we have for today.
But before we go, we have a little scientific challenge for you.
We call it Operation Up and Out.
Ever wonder what makes some paper planes fly better than others?
It's their aerodynamic designs.
The way air moves around them.
We want you to make a paper airplane with a design that lets it go high and far, far through the air.
You'll need paper, scissors, a ruler, and an open space to fly.
Fold your plane into a design that you love and then send it sailing through the air.
You can use the ruler to help count the distance.
If it doesn't go as far as you'd like, just keep working on that aerodynamic design.
And grownups, you can help by making sure that the flying is done safely.
And don't forget to take a photo or a video.
Grownups, you can upload pictures and videos to us at tinkercast.com slash share.
That's all the time we have for today.
Until next time.
Keep on rowing.
