And now, for everyone's second favorite game show after Bumblebee Dance Battle, it's Two What's in a Wild!
With your hosts, Mindy and Guy Wild!
Hello and welcome back to Two What's in a Wild!
The scientific game show that separates the wows from the what!
And the category or theme for today is animals with wings.
Mindy, why don't you refresh our contestants on how the game works?
You know it. Wowsers, in each of our three rounds today, Guy, Roz, and I will present you with three scientific statements about animals with wings.
But... and this is a big but.
Only one of those statements will be a true wow.
The other two, just a couple have made up.
What? Now, in each round, if you guess correctly, well, congratulations!
You win a point! But if you guess incorrectly, you must stop, drop, and do a redonkulous physical challenge.
Okay, everyone ready to start the game?
Great! Then let's get to it!
Okay, round one. Which of the following statements is a true scientific wow?
Is it A, birds live on every continent?
Or is it B, not all birds have wings?
Or is it C, birds are talented hairstylists and will braid your hair if you ask nicely?
When you think you have the correct answer, yell, wing it on!
Hey, Reggie, thinky music!
And time is up! Let's now reveal the winning wow.
And to do just that, it's COVID!
Cody and Cordelia from Massachusetts!
Cody and Cordelia, tell us, what's the winning wow?
Hi, I'm Cody and Cordelia and our wow in the world is that birds live on every continent.
Isn't that wow? Winner, winner, continental breakfast for dinner!
Thank you, Cody and Cordelia.
Contestants, if you guessed the answer A, that birds live on every continent, well, congratulations, you found the winning wow!
From snowy owls in the Arctic Circle to penguins in Antarctica, birds live on every continent on our planet.
There are roughly 11 ,000 species of birds on Earth and they can be found in basically every major habitat on land.
Now, if you did not get that answer correct, you must stop, drop, and lay an egg!
Okay, round two. Which of the following statements is a true scientific wow?
Is it A, the bumblebee bat is smaller than a dime?
Or is it B, bats are actually mice who learned how to fly?
Or is it C, bats sleep upside down by using special tendons that lock them in place?
When you think you have the correct answer, yell, I'm a spicy chicken wing!
And dip yourself in ranch dressing.
Uh, think of music, please.
And time is up! And joining us by phone, it's Pearson from Florida.
Pearson, what's the winning wow?
Hi, my name's Pearson.
My wow in the world is that bats sleep upside down.
Winner, winner, upside down cake for dinner.
That's right, Pearson!
Wowsers, if you guessed C, that bats sleep upside down by using special tendons that lock them in place, well, congratulations, you found the winning wow!
There are a few reasons why many species of bats sleep upside down.
Their feet secure them onto their perch, so they don't need to use much energy to hold the position.
And they can choose places out of reach from predators, letting them snooze in safety.
There are advantages to hanging upside down while bats are awake, too.
They can use their hands and mouths to grab prey that comes their way.
And when it's time to move, they can simply drop down and take flight.
Now if you did not get that answer correct, you must stop, drop, and flap like a bat.
Okay, time for round three.
Which of the following statements is a true scientific wow?
Is it A, monarch butterflies are actual insect royalty?
Or is it B, there are eight times more species of butterflies than there are moths on Earth?
Or is it C, butterflies land on people because they like the taste of their sweat?
When you think you have the correct answer, yell, Win it home, baby.
Hey Reggie, can we get some thinking music please?
And time is up. And joining us by phone, it's Maggie from Massachusetts.
Maggie, please reveal the winning wow.
Hi Mindy and Guy Roz.
My name is Maggie and my wow in the world is that butterflies land on people because they like the taste of their sweat.
Winner winner, sweat for dinner!
You got it, Maggie and Wowsers.
If you guessed C, that butterflies land on people because they like the taste of their sweat, well, congratulations, you found the winning wow.
Butterflies have a straw -like tongue called a proboscis, which they use to slurp up their food.
While they mainly drink nectar from flowers, they also get salt and minerals by doing something called puddling.
Puddling is when a butterfly feeds in damp, mineral -rich places like mud, soil, and even dung.
It's also common for butterflies to puddle in sweat, so if a butterfly lands on you, they're probably enjoying the nutrition your body provides.
Now, if you did not get that answer correct, you must stop, drop, and wrap yourself up in a cocoon.
And now it's time to take a moment to thank our sponsors.
Today's show is brought to you in part by the Wingamajig.
Do you want to explore the skies?
Of course you do, but you're a human like me.
You don't have any wings.
Until now, try my newest invention, the Wingamajig.
You just strap into my patented flappy flap technology, then rig up the jig.
Minia, are you sure this was a good idea?
Yes, of course I'm not sure this is a good idea, Gyros.
Now I'll just get a running start and...
Run, run, run, run, run, run, run, and jump!
And I'm flying! I'm flying!
I'm okay! Phew, why don't we take a quick break and hear some other important messages for grownups.
Two watts in a row, we'll be right back.
Grownups, this message is for you.

Welcome back to Two Wuts and a Wow!
The scientific game show that separates the Wow's from the Whooos!
What was that? Oh, Guy Ross, that sound can mean only one thing!
Someone asked for more cowbell?
Nope, it's time for today's Bonker Balls bonus round.
If you listen to our Wow in the World episode titled When Ya Got a Geode, Ya Got a Geode, you'll know the answer to this one.
And the Bonker Balls bonus question is, the largest geode in the world is located 500 meters or 1600 feet underground, known as the pulpy geode.
Where is it located?
Is it A in Dennis' backyard?
Or is it B in an old silver mine in Spain?
Or is it C in a cave system in Argentina?
And with the answer to today's Bonker Balls bonus question, it's Reggie.
Reggie, tell us, what's the winning wow?
If you answered B, you are correct!
Originally discovered by miners in 1999 in the province of El Maria in Spain, the crystal -lined cavern is a staggering 26 by 6 feet by 5 .5 feet.
Well, congratulations to all of our winning Wowzers.
Mindy, what's today's prize?
Well, Guy Raz, today's winning Wowzers will all be receiving their very own relaxing mutt nest.
Oh no. Reggie, cue the prize cannon!
No! Fire away! Mutt nest for everyone.
Ah, feel the relaxation.
