But for now, let's get on with the show.
Woo!
As soon as I could get on my gym shoes, Mindy.
What's going on?
Are those dung beetles in a boxing ring?
Yes!
It's my new training center, Guy Raz.
Gotta get you and those dung beetles in tip-top shape for a scientific competition show.
I'm working on.
It's called... Are You Stronger Than a Dung Beetle?
I'm a little afraid to ask, Mindy, but who's your first contestant?
The one and only Guy Raz!
And before you ask, it is so easy to play.
All you have to do is Prove I'm stronger than a dung beetle.
Mindy, compared to its size, the dung beetle is the strongest animal on the planet.
Correctamundo, contestant numero uno.
The dung beetle can pull over one... thousand times its own weight.
So for me to be stronger than the dumb beetle, I just have to be able to pull Where's my calculator?
You will have to pull six double-decker buses!
Well, thanks for thinking of me, Mindy, but can't we just stick to our regular game show for now?
Oh, sure.
We've got plenty of time for you to pull the buses later.
Honey, the bee Lady the Bug!
And Butter the Flies in three, two, one!
And now for everyone's second favorite game show, after sneezing and burping at the same time.
It's Two What's and a Run.
Wowzers, it's time for another bugging out round of Two What's and a Wow.
The scientific game show that separates the wows from the what's.
And the category for today is bugs.
Mindy, why don't you refresh our contestants on how the game works?
You know it.
Wowzers, we are going to present you with three scientific statements about bugs, but and this is a But only one of those statements will be a true wow.
The other two, just a couple of made-up what's.
Okay, let's get started.
Which of the following statements about bugs is the true scientific wow?
Is it A, spiders use their legs and feet to taste their food?
Or is it B, cockroaches can hold their breath for 40 minutes at a time.
Or is it C?
There's a type of wasp that hides from predators by pretending to be bird poop.
When you think you have the answer, buzz it out loud in your best bug voice.
We're going to take a quick break to give you a chance to think.
And when we come back, we'll find out if your wow is the winning wow.
We'll be right back.
Grownups, this message is for you.

Now back to the show.
Okay, Wowzers, time is up.
It's time to reveal the winning wow.
But before we do, let's do a quick review.
We gave you three scientific statements about bugs and challenged you to guess which one was the one.
True, wow.
Was it...
Spiders use their legs and feet to taste their food.
Or was it B?
Cockroaches can hold their breath for 40 minutes at a time.
Or was it C?
There's a type of wasp that hides from predators by pretending to be bird poop.
And to answer yesterday's question, joining us by phone, it's Stephan from Seattle.
Stephan wow, hi mindy and guy ross.
My name is stefan, from seattle and my wow in the world that cockroaches can hold their breath for 40 minutes.
Isn't that insane?
Say hi to reggie for me and dennis, everyone knows your static man winner.
Winner beetle juice for dinner, stefan.
That is correct contestants.
If you guessed the answer b that cockroaches can hold their breath for 40 minutes You found the winning wow.
Congratulations, Wowzers!
When cockroaches breathe, they suck in oxygen through small openings in their thorax, and that oxygen travels through a very special system of tubes before getting delivered to all of the rest of the parts of their body.
It's like they take in one deep breath... and their body does the rest.
Now, if you guessed A or C, you weren't too far off.
While spiders do love tasty meals, it's actually the housefly that has taste buds on its feet.
These taste buds make it easy for flies to eat on the go.
They land, get a quick taste, and get away before danger approaches.
And if you chose C, wasps may not be able to camouflage themselves as bird poop, but there are some caterpillars that can.
The black and white spine on some caterpillars, like the ones that turn into a beautiful Asian swallowtail butterfly, make them look like bird poop to enemies.
Guy Raz, why don't you tell our winning wowsers what they've won?
Well Mindy, all of our winning contestants will be taking home their very own invisible flavored air.
Straight from the old.
This food-flavored air will excite your taste buds and your lungs with the tingling essence of real food.
Like hot apple pie, pork chops, and soup.
Flavored air.
It's barely even there.
Mindy, are you sure that's a prize?
Yes, of course I'm not sure this is a prize, Guy Raz.
Okay.
Hey, well, congratulations to all of the winning Wowzers.
That's just about all the time we have for today.
But before we go, we have a little scientific challenge for you.
We call it Operation Fly Vision.
As you might know, all bugs have eyes.
But not all bugs have eyes like the housefly.
They have three small, simple eyes in the middle to help them navigate.
And two large, noticeable compound eyes.
And inside the compound eyes are thousands of simple eyes that work like really, really good cameras.
And, like really, really good cameras, they give the fly a good view of everything to the left right, above And even below.
We challenge you to make as many eyes as you can to help you see more around you.
Grab some straws or make as many paper tubes as your hands can hold, and then hold them up to your eyes.
And for full effect, add in a few buzzes.
And don't forget to take a photo or a video.
Grownups, you can upload pictures and videos to us at Tinkercast.com slash share.
And be sure to come back on Monday for a brand new episode of Wow in the World.
And again on Friday for a new episode of Two What's and a Wow.
