Hi, welcome to Monday and welcome to Radio Headspace.
It's me, your host Dora.
So the switch from working in the hospital to working from home was a huge transition for me and I'm sure for many of you listening as well.
Every day was starting to feel the same and one night I was reading the seven levels of intimacy by Matthew Kelly.
And he shares how we can find clarity, direction and purpose by asking ourselves every single day.
Is this going to help me become the best version of myself?
So with this in mind, I began placing Post-it notes all this version of yourself and another had a list of qualities that defined my best me.
This practice made me think about how I may not be able to change my external circumstances so the pandemic working from home, my monotonous schedule, but I can change my relationship.
Oh, what's the best you?
Let's take a moment to explore this as I guide you through a short practice.
You definitely don't need to pause what you're doing to participate.
So let's just take a deep inhale and a deep exhale.
Now taking a moment to ask yourself, who is your best self?
And just noticing any images, feelings, sensations or thoughts that begin to arise.
You can even say to yourself, my best self is, and name any qualities that come to mind.
What do those qualities look like in your everyday life?
Then taking another deep breath in through the nose and out through the mouth.
Just letting that practice go.
In mindfulness and meditation, so round us, my idea of best continues to change.
It evolves and grows as the mind and heart do.
So if you're like me and you find yourself in a rut when it comes to your routine and your everyday life, give this practice a try.
I also posted about it on my Instagram, so if you need an idea for reference, head over to my page and search for door I come out.
Also, if you've used the headspace app, you know that we often recommend using sticky notes as a way to have visual reminders of mindfulness throughout your notes and write down the qualities that make you the best you.
Wishing you a happy and healthy day wherever you are.
