Halloween is coming up on October 31st and it's full of fun traditions.
On this holiday, American children dress up in costumes and go trick-or-treating, meaning they go from house to house in the neighborhood, ringing the doorbells and gathering candy.
Today, you'll learn some Halloween vocabulary, common words for scary things associated with this holiday, as well as six different ways to talk about being scared.

Haunted house Vampire Bat Witch Wizard Mummy Zombie Skull Devil, cemetery or graveyard, gravestones or tombstones, coffin, spider web, Jack-o'-lantern.
Now that you know a few Halloween words, let's also learn how to describe scary situations or environments.
You can use the adjectives spooky and creepy.
For example, that haunted house was really spooky.
Or the graveyard is so creepy at night.
If something gives you a cold sensation of fear, then you can say it is chilling or it sent chills down your spine.
A costume or decoration that has lots of blood or clearly shows something dead and it's kind of gross can be described as gruesome.
And finally, if you are extremely scared, you are terrified or petrified.
This last one describes being so completely scared that you're frozen and you can't move.
