But for now, let's get on with the show.
Woo!
Welcome back to Tinker Class.
It's day two and we're ready to get this party started.
But first, if you missed yesterday's class, take a pause and go back and listen to yesterday's episode to catch up.
Don't worry, we'll still be here when you come back.
This week our project is inspired by our Wow in the World episode Getting Nosy About the Science of Smell.
Why Different Sniffs Get Different Whiffs?
In this episode we visited my backyard olfactory and discovered that different things smell different to different people.
For example, I might catch a whiff that, to me, smells like Parmesan cheese.
But to me, it might smell like vomit.
Mindy!
Or I might catch a whiff of somebody's pungent, sweaty shirt.
But to me, it smells like vanilla.
Our challenge this week is to create a jar of smells that the whole family can enjoy.
But before you can create this jar of smells, you're going to have to put your nose to the test.
The first step of our tinkering process is to explore.
Run around your home and make a list of everything you can find that smells vanilla.
You might want to take a look in the laundry room, the garden, the refrigerator.
And then think of ways you can combine these things to make your whole home smell good.
This could mean collecting these things and their smells in a jar.
But it could also mean combining them together in a bowl or a box or even a clean sock to make a little sniff sack.
Be sure to write down your ideas for how these scents could work together and how you plan to collect them.
And then meet us back here tomorrow for day three when we bring these stinky ideas to life.
Scented ideas to life.
That's what I just said.
No, you said stinky ideas.
Meet us back here tomorrow when we bring your stinky scented ideas to life.
That better?
No.
Till next time!
And grown-ups.
