Welcome back to Tinker Class.
It's day two and we're ready to get this party started.
But first, if you missed yesterday's class, take a pause and go back and listen to yesterday's episode to catch up.
Don't worry, we'll be here when you come back.
This week, our project is inspired by our Wow in the World episode, Good Habitat Keeping.
In that episode we learned about a bunch of amazing animal habitats and homes, including one that looked like a giant pile of spit but was actually made by the spittlebug's pee bubbles.
Anything for science?
Anything for science.
Our challenge for you this week is to create a dream habitat for a creature from your imagination.
That's right.
We want you to dig around in your imagination to find a creature that doesn't exist anywhere else.
Then we want you to think about what that creature would need to survive.
You know, in terms of food, water, and protection or shelter.
Because this week is all about creating a habitat or home environment that will meet those needs.
Today's step in the tinkering process is all about exploring.
Explore your imagination to find this creature and draw a picture of it.
Then you'll want to make a list of special characteristics about this creature.
Think about its needs, its behaviors.
You know, things like, does it need to swim in water?
Or does it need access to a tall, tall tree?
Think about what it looks like, how it moves, who it might live with.
Or does it like to live alone?
You'll also want to think about how it gets water, what it eats. and even who eats it.
Your habitat might need a good hiding spot so your creature can hide from potential predators.
And remember, since this is a creature from your imagination, you are the expert.
Go ahead and start drawing up a plan for this dream habitat.
And meet us back here tomorrow for day three of this week's Tinker Class, as we begin to create your creature's habitat in real life.
And grown-ups.
