Hi guys, it's Sid and welcome back.
So I decided to make a list of things that I find to be incredibly chic.
I would say classy, timeless, authentic, or words that come to mind when I think of chic.
For me, it's the way that you carry yourself on both the inside and the outside.
It's not how you look.
It's how you present yourself.
So I have a list of things on my laptop.
Grab a snack, maybe grab a nice cup of tea because tea is chic.
Cheers.
Number one is curling your eyelashes and putting Vaseline on top.
I love not wearing mascara a lot of the times.
That in itself is very chic.
And one of the best ways to make it look like your lashes are super healthy, curled and strong without actual mascara on them is just curling them and putting Vaseline on top.
Wearing eye patches, which you know what, this is ironic.
Doing a face mask or wearing under eye patches, I think is just so chic, especially when you're getting ready, especially these ones by Dio.
Those are my favorite, and it makes me feel so put together.
Going along with that is having a skincare routine.
The regimen of having a skincare routine is just like such an act of self-care in itself, regardless of not even just your skin, like the fact that you wake up in the morning and take care of yourself in that way.
So I really try to prioritize my skincare in the morning and the night because it kind of just like rounds me and it starts my day and it finishes my day in a perfect way, because I'm like taking care of myself.
Clear nail polish.
This is something I've only started doing the past six months and, as some of you may know, I recently developed an allergy to nail polish and getting my nails done at the salon.
Moms are always right, because my mom was the one who always told me to do this and I never listened to her until now, and I really should have, because she's right.
Something also chic is listening to your mom because your mom is always right.
Anyways, I started using the Sally Hansen clear hardening gel.
I also file my nails and try to take super great care of them.
And you can see that they look, I would say, very healthy.
That's something that I personally find.
Very chic.
Clean. clear, well manicured and well kept nails.
In regards to makeup, complimenting, not concealing.
What I mean by this is really highlighting your natural features.
As I've gotten older, I've learned to really embrace the things I love and don't love about myself.
And I think that just comes with like self acceptance and really like learning to love yourself.
For example, one thing for me is I have these little, I don't know if they call them beauty marks.
I didn't used to really care about them or think much of them.
But as I get older I realize something I really love about myself, because I don't know it makes me me.
Accentuating the things that you love, instead of just covering it up with concealer, like I would used to do.
Having a signature scent.
This is something I've talked about often.
I think it is So classy.
Whenever someone has said to me this smell reminds me of you or this smells like you, I have never forgotten.
Look, I think I can name every person that's ever said that about me.
Really just finding that scent that you love, that you feel is truly you. and sticking to it.
Also buying like, the travel sized version of whatever that scent is and keeping it on you and your bag so chic.
Nothing is more sleek than a slick back bun with gold hoop earrings, especially with a hoodie on top.
I know we're bleeding into fashion here, but so chic, applying lip liner with your fingers.
I truly believe that there is a proper way to apply a lip product.
I think it's so chic and it always looks so much better.
You take the product, line your lips using a light hand, and then blending with your finger.
It really gives that more muted natural look to your lips.
Like, instead of a really harsh line, just taking your fingers and blending it so it doesn't look like you're even wearing your lip product.
It just looks like your lip color, but better.
It's chic. to use your fingers to blend in your lip product engraved personalized items.
For me, what came to mind with this is like a compact mirror that has your initials or lipstick, maybe your makeup bag.
Having things customized to you with your initials is so special and it's just something I love.
One of my best friends has her entire luggage set.
Come Completely personalized with her initials on everything.
I feel like she's the most put-together composed person because of that.
Applying blush to your nose This is my best hack for blush, because it makes it look like you actually got Sun.
If you think about it, when you do get sunburn, you do get a little color on your nose as well, And so when I started doing that, I felt like it really elevated my makeup routine.
Random but chic.
I couldn't really think of like where these things fit in a category, so I just decided to make it its own.
Starting out strong with orange wine.
I just don't think I see people order orange wine very often.
The times I've had it, it's delicious, and it's also, it's different, you know?
Most people order red or white.
So when you say orange wine, kind of throw us people off a little bit.
Wired headphones.
If you know me, you know that I pretty much only wear wired headphones.
Mostly because I just lose AirPods constantly.
There's something so maybe it's like the nostalgia of wired headphones.
I just love like whenever I see a girl out and she's walking with wired headphones, I just think she's cool.
The color brown, especially brunettes.
I love when a brunette wears anything brown, like a brown top, a brown bag, a brown scarf.
Going along without the color burgundy, my favorite color.
It's so classy.
It's beautiful.
It's like a red, rich red wine color.
Those are just two colors that I think are very chic.
Drinking coffee out of a wine glass.
I started doing this because at a cafe recently they served me my latte in a wine glass and I felt so cool.
To romanticize my mornings whenever I'm at home and I have coffee and like to do this.
It makes me feel put together in the mornings and I like doing it.
So Coke Zero.
This is a personal thing.
I know there's a debate with Diet Coke versus Coke Zero.
I'm a Coke Zero girl, but something about ordering a Diet Coke at a restaurant is Very classy to me.
Having a signature mug.
If you follow me at all, you'd probably have seen the mug that I'm obsessed with, which is actually a jug, because it's a gene mug.
That is, I would say, my signature mug.
You know, there's just something special about a mug.
It's so personal.
It's so intimate.
That's like your mug.
Handwritten notes.
There's nothing wrong with a thank you text, but there is something so much more special and intimate about handwriting a letter to someone and mailing it to them or giving it to them.
I have kept every single handwritten letter someone has ever given me.
I think because they're just so much more rare nowadays to receive that and it just makes it so much more special and it's very impressive when someone writes a letter nowadays because it's just not done as much.
Carrying a mini notebook and a pen with you.
Again, with everything being on your phones, I think it's so chic to just throw your special journal in your pen and your bag, pull it out at a coffee shop instead of just like your phone or your laptop.
I'm also a visual person, so I like writing out my to-do list versus just always putting it on my phone sometimes.
So I think that's very chic and also kind of practical.
Aspects of personal character development that I find to be chic.
This I think is the most important and also interesting part of this video.
Number one, which I think resonates very true to me and also my channel, is being alone and being confident about it.
You guys know at this point how much I believe in this.
Being able to enjoy your own company and taking your cell phone, solo dates and taking care of yourself.
Enjoying time alone because it's the most important relationship that you will have ever with yourself, I think is very cheap and honestly, very important.
It shows other people the respect that you deserve and how you treat yourself.
Other people will notice and they'll take note having a wide palette.
So for me, this is something I really struggle with.
Unfortunately, I am a very picky eater.
I'm not proud of this at all, so it's something that I've really tried to work on as I've gone older.
Is expanding my palette definitely not saying you need to like every single food.
You need to enjoy foods that you just hate.
It's more about being open to trying new things, even if you don't like it, just being willing to try foods that maybe you wouldn't normally try, especially different cultures and cuisines.
That's something that I think is very classy, chic and just important.
It's definitely something I've been working on, and I think I've been getting a lot better.
Something I always tell myself is I will try anything, even if I don't want to and if I don't like it, that's okay.
Having a large vocabulary.
This kind of goes along with being educated or educating yourself consistently, even after school ends.
You can really notice how someone presents themselves in the way that they speak in conversation.
It can be difficult to kind of like break out of the vocabulary tendencies that you're used to, especially saying like all the time using the same exact words to describe things.
I actually got an app for this.
I'm gonna put it on the screen because I forget what it's called.
But it's definitely helped me.
It's good to know how to articulate yourself.
It's a very respectable trait when someone can carry themselves and hold a great conversation intelligently.
Having confidence in yourself.
This is obviously way easier said than done.
I'm not confident 100% of the time and nobody is.
If anyone says that they are, it's just not true.
But I think it's really about being unapologetically yourself.
That is one of my favorite qualities in a person is meeting someone who is just so authentic to themselves.
You can just tell right away that they don't care what people think of them.
It is such an attractive quality in people, just like owning yourself and being confident in the person, that you are uncomfortable.
It definitely shows in the way that you act, like the way that you show up.
And just not caring about what people think of you is obviously very difficult.
But with practice and mindfulness, I do think it's possible to sort of get there.
You're never fully gonna be there, but this one is tough, but having composure during tough moments.
I've realized this the past couple of years how important it is to like take a step back and a deep breath when I'm really worked up about something or like agitated.
It's natural to have an impulse. when you have strong emotions about something.
But I think the point always comes across a million times better and more sophisticated.
When you take a second to breathe, gather your thoughts and deliver them in a more respectful, composed way.
Nothing ever is successful when you're just yelling, screaming, upset.
I'm not saying to like suppress your emotions.
That is not it at all.
But it's more so to just take a step back in those moments.
A lot of the times what I do if I'm like worked up about something is I'll give myself a day.
I won't respond to it.
I won't engage.
I won't do anything about it until I get myself 24 hours to just calm down.
And a lot of the times, 24 hours later I realize it's not as big of a deal as I thought it was, maybe or I want to handle it completely differently than how I would have in that moment.
Really handling things with a lot of grace, I think is very classy and very chic.
Lastly is having hobbies.
As we get older for some reason, hobbies seem to be less of a priority.
I think because of work friends, there's just like so much going on as you get older.
But really maintaining those hobbies for yourself, I think is very attractive and really just important mentally.
Having your own passions and things that are special to you, whether it's an instrument, a sport, an art.
It's not only classy, but it's also just good for you mentally to have something that you're passionate about.
Moving on to fashion, one of my favorite categories.
First off is a trench coat, specifically the button up trench coat.
I just bought one of these in my last vlog and it is so chic, so classy.
It's definitely a staple.
Next is a big vintage bag.
It really doesn't even have to be vintage, but just a large tote bag.
There's a couple reasons for this.
A, you can fit so many things in there.
For friends.
If someone doesn't have chapstick, if they want to brush their hair, you have everything, which I think being that friend who's prepared and has things for people is very chic.
So that's part of it, but I also just love the look. of a big tote bag.
And I actually have mine right here.
I thrifted this one on a thread up for I think 20 bucks.
Lace accents.
This is something that I do very often.
I love to just have like a little lace kind of peeking out of my outfit in a very subtle way.
One of my favorite ways is like a lace bralette.
For example, under something like this, where it's just sort of peeking out and you can see like a nice lace detail.
I think it's very feminine and graceful.
Earrings as the statement of an outfit.
I love a good chunky earring.
Having like a really strong pair of classy bold earrings.
I love that look.
Having your staple big chunky earrings can really just like completely change an outfit.
Going along with that is jewelry and layering jewelry.
You guys know I am in love with jewelry.
That is like my favorite way to accessorize.
I love like layering and putting together, creating new stacks for the day, mixing metals, really being creative with my jewelry.
It can really completely change your look for the day.
Focusing on jewelry as part of the outfit I think is very chic.
I also have a jewelry brand, so I'm clearly obsessed.
I'm sorry.
And I hope you guys like this bracelet because it may be coming soon.
White jeans.
I don't know if this is because I recently bought a pair of great fitting white jeans.
A good pair of white jeans that fit you perfectly.
There's something about those that are just so sophisticated and timeless.
I love a pair of white jeans.
I feel like they're kind of underrated a little bit.
We always think of blue jeans, dark wash jeans, black jeans, but white jeans deserve They're credit.
Of course, I couldn't forget to include a blazer.
When I think of a blazer, I actually think of Haley Bieber.
And when I think of Haley Bieber, I think of Sheik.
A blazer is timeless.
It's not trendy.
It's something that will always, always have its place.
And I think investing in a really good quality blazer is very smart and something that you'll always go back to.
This is kind of random, but I love a skinny little scarf.
It's not practical at all, okay?
It really doesn't do anything for you.
It doesn't keep you warm because it's this thin.
It's just such a cool piece to accessorize with other than just a belt or a hat or basic items that you'd think of.
Microscars are very sleek and you can find some really cool ones.
You can also thrift them.
So next we're moving on to home.
A couple months ago I discovered This changed my life because, if you're anything like me, I constantly am changing my bags.
A lot of the times when I switch my bag, I forget to transfer everything in my purse.
So what I like about having a purse bowl is you have a home base.
You can just dump all of your purse belongings in this bowl.
You can also just get like, you can get a really nice ceramic bowl too that looks pretty for decor.
Real plants, I used to be a fake plant person.
I couldn't keep them alive.
I was like, what's the point?
They're gonna die anyways.
And then I realized, you know what, you have to put an effort, but you can take care of a plant.
And having a real plant in your bedroom or your home, it is chic, okay?
There's something so chic about a real plant in your home that also just puts you in a good mood.
I think having plants in my apartment. unconventional storage.
I love storing my items in a way that you wouldn't expect.
I find a lot of my ideas for things like this on Pinterest, which is not a shocker.
I have a few examples of this, so one of them is displaying your bracelets and your bangles on an empty beautiful wine bottle that you like.
I've also been seeing recently people displaying their jewelry and necklaces on a tennis racket.
Never something I would have thought of, but I like that it's different and unconventional.
Aside from a tennis racket, I do like storing jewelry on things like a teacup.
Actually I'll show you guys mine's.
Right over there I bought this vintage teacup set with this saucer.
It's a great way for me to store my earrings and stuff.
Love this.
It's one of my favorite parts of my bedroom.
Something I've done for a while is keeping my favorite candles like an expensive or just like a nice candle jar, But using the used candle jars for storage or something whether it's like makeup brushes or lip products and putting it on your vanity.
I think that's really classy and chic.
Along with having a signature perfume scent or fragrance scent, I would say, is having a signature home scent.
There's a couple people I could name off right now that whenever I walk in their home I know exactly what it's going to smell like and I totally associate that smell with them in their house.
It's so chic.
This is probably the most chic thing in this video to me.
Walking in someone's house or apartment and they have the same exact smell.
That smells so nice and you can completely associate it with them.
Whether it's a candle or a diffuser or like a wall plugin, I think that's so chic and so classy.
And I'm honestly on the hunt to find something that I would associate with myself in my apartment.
So if you have any great candle racks, let me know.
Okay guys, that's everything that I find chic.
If I'm missing anything, please comment below, because I'm really curious what things you guys have to add.
But ultimately I just want to say I think The most chic version of yourself that you can be totally comes from within.
Way less to do with your exterior than your interior.
Obviously, I think ultimately what makes someone chic or put together is really just taking care of yourself on the inside and out.
Mentally physically, emotionally.
Really prioritizing yourself and the relationship you have with yourself, I think, is what embodies all of the chic things possible.
It's really just about taking care of yourself and loving yourself.
I love you guys.
Thanks so much for watching.
I hope you thought this video was fun.
I had so much fun making it and I will see you in my next video.
Bye!
