Hey, JJ.
Want to hear a story?
Yes, I do.
Can I please help tell it, too?
Yes, listen close.
Let's imagine and rhyme.
It's Cocoa Melon Storytime!
Oh, no!
My toy train broke!
That's okay.
Maybe it can be fixed.
Do you want some help?
I need your help, please.
I'm happy to help.
You know, this reminds me of a story about a little fiddler who also needed help fixing something.
Do you want to hear his story while I fix your train?
Yes, please.
It's called, The Fiddler's Not-So-Fine Fiddle.
Old King Cole always felt merry.
Old King Cole was a merry old soul and a merry old soul was he.
Exactly.
But today he was feeling extra merry because there was going to be a royal ball.
There he would dance all night long to the three fine fiddlers' royal song.
But old King Coral couldn't wait till the ball.
He wanted to hear the fiddlers play now.
So he went to listen to them practice.
Hello, my fiddlers three.
Meow, meow, meow.
That's right.
Chloe, Zoe and Joey played their fiddles for Old King Cole when suddenly they heard a.
What was that?
Old King Cole wondered the same thing.
He asked, Hmm, what was that sound?
Is something wrong?
Is everything okay for the royal song?
Chloe and Zoe looked around, but Joey knew what made that sound.
One of the strings on his fiddle had snapped.
Oh, no!
He can't play his fiddle with a broken string.
You're right, JJ.
Old King Cole offered to help fix his fiddle, but Joey told him, no thank you.
I'll find a fix for this fiddle of mine.
It's up to me to make it sound fine.
So Joey went off on his own and tried stretching the string back in place.
But...
The other end of the string snapped off.
Oh, no!
What did Joey do?
He needed something sticky to stick his fiddle to his string.
So he looked around the room and saw the perfect thing.
Duck, the conductor, was blowing bubbles with her bubble gum.
What's a conductor?
A conductor leads the musicians so they know how fast or slow to play their instruments.
Was Duck the conductor for the three fine fiddlers?
She sure was.
Joey asked her for a gumball please, and with a happy quack quack she gave him a gumball from out of her sack.
Joey looked at the gumball and his fiddle and purred.
Could this be a fix for this fiddle of mine?
It's up to me to make it sound fine.
He chewed on the gumball and blew a big bubble until the Sticky Gum stuck the string back onto his fiddle.
Did it work?
Did his fiddle sound fine again?
Joey ran back to the other fiddler so he could try playing it and find out.
But when he did, his bow wouldn't move back and forth.
The Sticky Gum worked for fixing the string, but now it was sticking to everything.
Oh no!
But he needs to move his bow back and forth on the strings for his fiddle to make a sound.
That's right.
Joey was in a sticky situation.
He tugged and tugged at his bow to get it free.
But instead, two more strings snapped.
What was that sound?
Is something wrong?
Is everything OK for the royal song?
It will be.
I'll find a fix for this fiddle of mine.
It's up to me to make it sound fine.
So Joey scurried away with his fiddle and bow How would he fix it?
I don't know!
Neither did Joey.
He had no tools to use.
But he did have strings.
The two on his shoes.
Joey unlaced his shoe strings and tied them onto his fiddle.
But they didn't look fine.
And they didn't sound fine either.
Just then, Old King Cole announced the royal ball was about to begin.
Joey can't play in the show if his fiddle is twang, twang, twanging.
What did he tell Old King Cole?
I don't think I can play in the show.
I broke my fiddle and I broke my bow.
I wanted to fix it by myself first, but each time I did, I just made it worse.
He showed Old King Cole his not-so-fine fiddle covered in sticky gum and shoestrings.
Then Joey did something brave.
What?
He asked for help.
Can you please help me fix this fiddle of mine?
I need your help to make it sound fine.
Old King Cole was happy to help.
He led Joey to the finest room filled with the finest tools for fixing fiddles.
Then Old King Cole fixed Joey's fiddle just in time for the ball.
He even gave Joey a new pair of fine shoe strings.
His old ones were covered in sticky bubble gum.
They were.
I'm glad Joey asked Old King Cole for help when he couldn't fix his fiddle himself.
Joey was glad he asked, too.
He thanked Old King Cole.
Now the ball could start.
Joey joined the other kitties and played with all his heart.
Their royal song had So much soul.
It made everyone feel merry.
Like old King Cole.
The end.
There.
I fixed your toy train.
Thank you, Mommy.
Now it's fine as a fiddle.
We heard a story.
Yes, it's true.
And I helped tell it, too.
We listened, imagined, and made some rhymes for Cocomelon Storytime.
