Where are we today?
Tell us where are we?
We've travelled a long way again today.
All the way to a forest in America.
Listen.
What do you think makes this sound?
I'll give you a clue.
It's a big animal that growls and has brown fur.
It's a bear.
Rawr!
Growl!
It's a large brown bear that lives in this part of the forest in America.
What type of bird makes this sound?
I'll give you a clue.
It's a white bird with a long neck and it likes swimming on water.
Listen.
It's some swans.
Honk!
Honk!
Honk!
Honk!
It's swans swimming on the river.
Listen and play again.
What insect makes this sound?
It's some bees.
It's the sound of bees buzzing in the beehive.
Listen and play.
It's time to sing today.
Our song's all about some bees.
I wonder if you know this rhyme.
Listen.
Here is the beehive, where are the bees?
Hidden away where nobody sees.
Watch and you'll see them come out of the hive.
One, two, three, four, five.
Today's song is about that beehive.
Count the bees on your fingers and make the sound of the bees with me.
Here is the beehive, where are the bees?
Hidden away where nobody sees.
Watch and you'll see them come out of the hive.
One, bzz, two, bzz, three, four, five.
Here is the beehive, where are the bees?
Hidden away where nobody sees.
Watch and you'll see them land on the floor.
One, two, three, four.
Here is the beehive, where are the bees?
Hidden away where nobody sees.
Watch and you'll see them come out of the tree.
One.
Two.
Here is the beehive, where are the bees?
Hidden away where nobody sees.
Watch and you'll see them come out of the hive.
One, two, three, four, five.
They've all gone away.
Listen, listen, listen, it's rhyme time.
Today's rhymes are about a swan and a bear.
Swam, swam over the sea.
Swim, swam, swim.
Swam, swam back again.
Well, swam, swam.
A bear called Bella went off to see if she could find some honey for her tea.
She found a nest high up in a tree, but the nest was full of buzzy bees.
Buzz, buzz, buzz.
Listen, listen, listen in Storytime.
Today's story comes from America.
It's about that bear called Bella and her love for sweet sticky honey.
Shh!
Listen, listen.
The story's called The Bear and the Bee Tree.
Once upon an American time there was a large brown bear called Bella.
Now Bella Bear was a naughty bear.
One afternoon, Bella said to her mum, I'd like something to eat.
Can I have a sweet?
No, Bella, said her mum, you'll spoil your supper.
Oh, moaned Bella.
Then she had an idea.
Can I go out to play, she asked.
All right, said her mum, but don't do anything naughty.
I won't, said Bella with a mischievous smile.
Off went Bella Bear tramping through the forest tramp tramp tramp, when suddenly she heard the sound of bees buzzing loudly.
Buzz, buzz, buzz.
She looked up and saw that the bees were buzzing round a hole near the top of a tall pine tree.
Bella grinned.
Bees means honey, honey for my tummy.
So she waited till the bees had gone.
Then she climbed the tall pine tree, clinging on tightly with her strong paws.
Balancing carefully on a branch, she put her furry paw inside the bees' hole.
When she pulled it out, it was covered in lovely, sticky, sweet honey.
She licked it off hungrily.
The honey went all over her face.
It trickled down into her fur.
There was sticky honey everywhere.
Bella licked and sucked her paws, greedily scoffing as much honey as she could.
Unfortunately for Bella Bear, the bees came back, buzzing angrily.
Buzz, buzz, buzz.
When they saw Bella stealing their honey, they were very cross and they stung Bella right on the nose.
Ow! she cried as Bella slipped from the branch.
Ah!
And fell down and down, crashing through all the leaves and branches onto the forest floor.
Down came the bees after her, buzzing angrily.
Bella rolled over and over in the leaves on the forest floor, trying to stop the bees from stinging her.
She was so covered in honey that leaves and twigs stuck all over her sticky fur.
When she stood up, she was totally covered in leaves, from her furry head to her furry feet, and away she ran, chased by the bees.
Help me, help me, somebody please.
I'm being chased by angry buzzy bees.
Buzz, buzz, buzz.
She ran until she reached Squirrel's house.
Squirrel looked at the strange leafy beast.
Scram, you leafy monster, scram.
And shut the door with a great big slam.
On Bella ran until she came to Foxy's house.
Help me, help me, Foxy, please.
I'm being chased by angry, buzzy bees.
Buzz, buzz, buzz.
Foxy looked at the strange leafy beast.
Scram, you leafy monster, scram.
And shut the door with a great big slam.
Then Bella heard another sound.
Honk, honk, honk.
It was Swan who was outside her house by the lake.
Help me, help me, oh Swan, please.
I'm being chased by angry buzzy bees.
Buzz, buzz, buzz.
Swan looked at the strange leafy beast.
Scram, you leafy monster, scram. and shut the door with a great big slam.
On Bella ran with the bees chasing her until she reached the lake.
Quickly, she dived in with a huge splash.
Bees don't like water, so they buzzed off home.
Buzz, buzz, buzz.
When Bella eventually climbed out of the lake, Her fur was soaked, but all the sticky leaves had gone and Bella looked like a bear once more.
Sorry, Bella, said Swan.
I thought you were a leafy monster.
When Bella returned home, her mum was rather cross.
Bella, what a mess.
You are so naughty.
Go and have a bath.
Then we've got honey sandwiches for supper.
Bella groaned.
She felt sick now because she'd eaten so much honey.
But after that day, she never ever ever stole honey from the bees again.
Our last song today is called The Bear Went Over the Mountain.
Stand up in a space of your own Now.
I want you to march over the mountain to the music, just like the bear.
Off you go.
Oh, the bear went over the mountain.
The bear went over the mountain.
The bear went over the mountain to see what he could see.
But all that he could see, but all that he could see was the other side of the mountain.
The other side of the mountain, the other side of the mountain was all that he could see.
So he went back over the mountain.
He went back over the mountain, he went back over the mountain to see what he could see.
But all that he could see, but all that he could see was the other side of the mountain.
The other side of the mountain, the other side of the mountain was all that he could see.
All that he could see!
I hope you've enjoyed listening and playing with me.
Bye!
Listen all around, listen for the sounds.
Listen, listen, listen.
Listen, listen, listen.
