Monkey's so lazy, he makes us crazy.
Once upon a jungly time, there was an animal fair.
All the birds and beasts were there.
They'd had a great day.
Now night was nearing, they were sitting in a clearing.
They were excited because it was time for a special show by Big Baboon and his two friends Elephant and Monkey.
Big Baboon was a sensational singer.
Elephant was just the best juggler and Monkey was the craziest clown.
But he was also lazy, which made his friends crazy.
Inside their hut, Big Baboon was ready and Elephant was steady.
But they couldn't perform their show.
Oh, no.
Instead, Big Baboon had to practice his singing.
La, la, la, la, la, la.
We're the best show by far.
He sang.
And Elephant had to practice her coconut juggling.
Hop, hop.
Hop through them, hop, hop, hop, she said, because Monkey was asleep in his bunk.
Big Baboon sighed.
Monkey's so lazy.
He makes us crazy.
Outside in the jungle, the birds and beasts were getting restless for the show to start.
A giraffe, with a funny laugh, said, I hope they'll begin it any minute.
Hehehehe.
Inside the hut, Big Baboon had to do even more singing practice.
La, la, la, la, la, we're the best show by far, he sang.
And Elephant had to practice her log juggling.
Hop, hop, hop, keep them up, up, up, she said.
Because Monkey was still snoring asleep in his bunk.
Big Baboon sighed.
Monk is so lazy.
He makes us crazy.
Outside.
The birds and beasts wanted the show so much they clapped their paws, stamped their hooves and swooshed their tails.
They wanted Big Baboon to begin it, not in a minute, but now.
That's why they made such a rumpus and a row.
Inside the hut, Big Baboon stroked the golden hair on his chin.
I think we'd better begin.
So he walked out of the hut, stood in front of the birds and the beasts and yelled, Quiet!
So loudly that he woke Monkey with a start.
Then Monkey fell out of his bunk.
He slid down Elephant's trunk.
Well, that tickled Elephant's trunk.
And it made her sneeze.
And she fell on her knees.
But what became of Monkey, Monkey, Monkey, Monkey?
The sneeze was so big that it blew him straight out of the hut and right into Big Baboon who was just getting ready to sing.
I went to the animal fair.
Big Baboon flew up to the moon.
Monkey rolled over and over and over and over until he hit a tree trunk.
Then he flew up to the moon as well.
Elephant arrived just as Big Baboon and Monkey fell down from the moon, caught them both with her trunk and juggled them up high in the air.
All the birds and beasts hooted and honked and howled with laughter.
It was the best show ever.
At the end, Big Baboon took a low bow.
Thank you, he said.
Elephant, with enormous effort, bowed too.
Thank you, thank you, she said.
But not Monkey.
He didn't bow.
Oh no.
I'm sure you know where he was.
Monkey was so lazy that he had already fallen asleep in his bunk again.
Oh, said Big Baboon and Elephant together.
Monkey's so lazy, he makes us crazy.
I wonder why Monkey was always so tired.
Maybe he always went to bed late.
