Welcome to the Effortless English Show with the world's number one English teacher, A .J.
Hogue, where A .J.'s more than 40 million students worldwide finally learn English once and for all, without the boring textbooks, classrooms, and grammar drills.
Here's A .J. with a quick piece to help you learn to speak fluent English effortlessly.
I am A .J. Hogue, the author of Effortless English, learn to speak English like a native three secrets to success success in anything, in any part of life success financially money, what does that mean?
We'll talk about what success is and then what are three secrets to have success in your life?
Success with your health and fitness.
Success with English, of course.
English speaking. Success in school.
Success in any big area of life that's important to you.
Of course, there are many, many, many, many books.
Thousands and thousands of books about this topic and blog posts and everybody has opinions.
So, you know, I think my theme this year is making things simple.
You know, there's a book we did called Seven Habits of Success, you know, and people give you the ten keys to success.
So I'm trying to make everything simple, simple, simple, as simple as possible.
So only three. But these three are super important.
And I feel that with these three secrets, you will achieve a great amount of success in life.
And without these, it is nearly impossible.
I won't say impossible, but close to impossible.
So these are three things to focus on.
Because for success in anything in life, we can only focus on a few things at one time.
So it's nice to read a list of, you know, the top 10 things to do to be successful.
You know, the top, you know, seven tips to become rich.
But seven is too much still, I think, because you can't focus on seven things.
Even three is quite a lot because the truth is, you know, one, we want to try to get it down to one if possible.
Sometimes life is a little more complicated than that and we need more than one thing.
But, you know, one, two, three things.
That's enough for us to focus on.
And then there might be other secrets.
There might be other strategies, methods we can use.
But we can focus on those later.
Focus on a few at one time.
Get really good at them.
And then you can add more later.
Okay? So let's talk about, first of all, what is success?
Okay, success here.
What am I talking about?
We have to talk about our words and say what they mean because people have so many ideas about these kind of words and what does success mean?
So for me, it just means that you get what you want.
You have a goal, right?
And whatever that is, you can achieve it.
So financially, in terms of money, what does success with money mean?
Everybody has very different ideas about this.
So you decide. For me, it's financial independence.
It means I'm not stressed about money.
I don't care about becoming a billionaire.
But, you know, other people might want, they might have a specific amount of money.
They might want a really big house.
They might, everyone has their different ideas.
So success is, you know, achieving your most important goals in life, in the big, important areas of your life.
all right let's talk about them now the three things the first one is energy i don't i don't see this talked about much in books about success a lot of people talk about you know all these different strategies mindsets different tricks you can do but in my experience now in life after having I've failed
a lot in a lot of different areas many many many times and I've succeeded in a lot of areas that are important to me and this one's number one I think especially as you get older but I think at any time in your life if you don't have a lot of energy you probably will not succeed to succeed requires
energy because succeeding in anything that's difficult requires work.
You've got to work.
You've got to put in hours and hours and hours every day, okay?
It doesn't matter if you're trying to become a great guitar player or speak, you know, fluent English or become wealthy, very rich, or become really good at a sport, or develop great public speaking skills, great sales skills, or create your own business that's successful.
Whatever it is, you've got to have energy because if you don't have a lot of energy, and I'm not talking about a normal amount, you have to have super high levels of energy because if not, if you're kind of tired, if you're kind of lazy, you become discouraged.
It's too easy to quit because the number one key to success is don't quit.
this is in anything don't quit when you quit you automatically fail you're done and sometimes we fail in life okay i've quitted a lot of things okay so but something's very important quitting's the number one problem and you've got to have that energy okay if you're building a business guess what especially
in the beginning the first five years let's say maybe longer you have to have a lot of energy you get up when i started my business you know i would wake up in the morning thinking about it and writing down my ideas i would go work my job and in every and during the breaks in my job i would be writing
down my ideas for the business and lessons i wanted to record and then i would come home from work and i would record the lessons and make courses and design the website and publish it and do you know and get on the social media at the time and and learn then i would and i was reading tons and tons
and tons of books about marketing and sales and business and, you know, finances and money.
I was doing all of that every day.
No breaks. No, not Monday to Friday, seven days a week, Monday to Sunday, every single day.
I would go to coffee shops.
I'd be reading and reading and reading.
You know, I, so tons and tons and tons of energy while working a job to build this business okay that's what you need you have to have that you have to have that energy and i can tell you you know i've just had a very stressful year actually really uh just had a stressful five and a half years uh the last
year being quite stressful but several other years very stressful and all that stress uh really hurt my energy levels just under that kind of stress every day I got more and more tired.
And then last year was kind of the worst year.
Probably the lowest energy of my life was last year.
Really, really struggled with it.
Just would lie around, just feeling tired all the time.
Physically tired, so low physical energy.
And then that also, you know, mental and emotional energy, right?
I just didn't want to think about things.
I just didn't want to do anything that might be difficult.
so motivation was low all of these things a struggle and guess what when then you're fighting against yourself you might have amazing goals great dreams but then you get up and you don't do anything about it or you do a little bit and then you kind of get tired and you get distracted and you go watch
videos you go play on social media you go talk to your friends You take a nap.
You don't do what you need to do, which is hours and hours and hours every day focused on your goal because you don't have the energy.
So this is number one.
You've got to take care of this first.
If you don't have this, forget everything else.
No trick, no method, no book.
Nothing's going to help you.
If you're tired or unmotivated, if your physical energy is low if your mental, emotional energy your motivation your excitement your enthusiasm if they're low forget it nothing's gonna work you can try every trick read every book do every little secret people tell you without energy forget it you're
not gonna do it because you'll only do it once or twice and then you'll get tired and then you'll stop okay You've got to have enough energy to be focused and excited for hours and hours and hours every day.
No breaks, no holidays, no time off.
That's what you need.
And it makes a huge difference, I can tell you, okay?
Again, I'll use myself as an example.
Starting this business, my energy was super, super high, and I couldn't be stopped.
okay I didn't know what I was doing I learned everything all by myself and we'll talk about that because that's our next secret but I could overcome so much and learn so much and do so much because of that high energy and then on the other side last year you know after all these years of of kind of intense
stress. I was so tired.
I couldn't do anything.
I had great ideas. I have wonderful, great ideas, things I want, great goals, and wonderful things I wanted to do as a father for my kids, for the business, for Effortless English as a teacher, exercise, all these great ideas.
And I didn't do any of them.
And even the one thing I was doing, my one hobby, Jiu -Jitsu, over last year, you know, my energy just kept dropping, dropping.
It was a struggle and it was harder and harder and harder to do anything at that.
And I stopped getting better, stopped improving.
So you've got to take care of this energy.
We'll start with basics, okay?
So for the basics, the place to start is your body and your physical energy.
You've got to get healthy.
You've got to eat healthy food.
Stop eating. I'm just going to be simple, okay?
There's so much information out there about eating.
But we all know that the processed food is bad, okay?
Stuff that's in a box or a can.
Maybe a can sometimes is okay.
But, you know, boxes, bags that somebody else made, okay?
Some company. It's almost always bad, bad, bad.
Look at the ingredients.
there's always there's chemicals in it or there are bad seed oils you know canola oil and corn oil and high fructose corn syrup all this unnatural stuff that is terrible for your body and will destroy your energy and your health so get rid of that okay eat fruits fresh fruit great I'm not saying you
if you want sugar I like sugar I like sweet stuff okay always have I've always fought against, struggled with this.
Just eat fruit. Fruit is, you can eat all the fruit you want.
You're not going to get fat, okay?
So just, you can, if you like sweets like I do, eat fruit, dried fruit, fresh fruit, fruit juice, whatever, as long as it's natural.
It's real. It's not from some big company, okay?
And then in addition to that, you know, get enough protein, get some healthy fats.
Healthy fats, like butter, right?
Milk, just healthy basic stuff okay and then you got to move your body you got to move you got to move you got to move again there are hundreds of ways to exercise but you have to do something and the most simple thing to do is just walk every day okay it's the simplest thing anyone can do even people
in wheelchairs you can they can do with their wheelchair they can get out there if they can use their arms okay so if you prefer you can go you can jog or run you can do cycling other people more like heavier weights you can do kettlebells you can do bodyweight exercises you can go to a gym and lift
heavyweights or have heavyweights at your house uh you can do swimming i mean there's it's endless and then of course there are lots and lots of sports where it's going to help your uh energy and your fitness right depending on what you like to do you can play tennis you can play golf you can do jujitsu
you can do boxing you can yeah it's endless So you gotta move your body.
And you gotta get nice, solid sleep.
Get good sleep. Okay, so that's what I would say is the basics of physical energy.
And then finally, you know, we get to the mental and emotional side.
You gotta manage your stress.
This is a hard one.
Okay, because as I said, sometimes life is very hard.
So how do you manage stress?
You gotta get more sleep.
um you can take certain vitamins and supplements that help with that help your body deal with stress meditation i found that prayer is probably the number one um help for stress especially very intense uh strong stress okay so you gotta energize your body and then like i've said other things like you
know just moving your body in power poses and all these things dance around uh do some play some fun music and dance around every day it seems weird but it's you know i think we need that that fun that joy that happiness and that high fun enjoyable energy uh it helps us physically just to jump around
and dance around whatever um but it helps us mentally and emotionally i think we need it especially when we're stressed because we get too serious in life and this can just drag it drags down our energy like i do kirtan which is actually a kind of uh you know spiritual religious kind of music and dancing
so you could certainly do that you know there's uh several traditions for this there's a great kinds of gospel music sufi uh music and and dancing and uh so you could do that or do you just play some kind of you know you know loud rock music and jump around and you know that's fine too okay so energize
energize without energy you got to take care of energy so if you're low energy you've got to figure this out this is a big topic start reading books about it let's get the number two secret number two and it connects to what i just said about reading books independent Learning.
Independent learning is the second most important key to success.
You've got the energy.
What do you use it for?
Well, first you got to start learning.
Okay, you got to learn more.
If you're not successful, it means you don't know enough.
It means you're missing something, right?
There are other people out there succeeding in all areas of life, and you can too, okay?
They're doing different things.
They know different things.
So you need to learn from them, okay?
It doesn't matter if it's money, if it's business, if it's teaching, if it's public speaking, health, fitness English speaking right?
so this is where you've got to you've got to be an independent learner not schools schools don't worry if schools taught success everyone will be successful everyone is forced to go to school in most countries right?
so millions billions actually of people have gone through school and yet most are not successful meaning they don't reach their goals they're not happy with their lives at all so clearly you're not going to learn it in school I don't care you want to be a great businessman or businesswoman you're not going to
learn how to do that at a university they will not teach you how to be a successful business owner entrepreneur in university you're not going to learn it there you're not going to learn how to be great at selling and sales at a university or a college or a school.
Never going to learn it there.
Okay? You're going to waste years and years studying a bunch of theories and nonsense and textbooks and you'll never actually get any skill at all.
Okay? And this is true for every topic.
Okay? If you want to be a good teacher, you're not going to learn to be a great teacher by going to university and getting an education degree.
I did that, I promise you, you will not learn to be a good teacher that way.
Okay? So, regular education, normal education, learning from schools and classes, do not waste your time.
You have to be an independent learner.
Study people who have been very successful in life and what you want to do, and you're going to see they learn independently.
They go out and they just find books about their topic and they read books and books they read probably hundreds of books about their topic they go to the library they go to bookstores, online, e -books whatever, they read and read and read and they learn about their topic, they also watch tons of videos about their
topic and yes, they may find other people to coach them sometimes to teach them, okay?
But they're not just sitting in a class, studying learning from textbooks, that's not what they're doing.
So if you want to learn business, okay, as I said, how did I learn business?
I didn't go to business school, thank God, right?
What did I do? I read hundreds of books about business independently.
I just did it myself.
I went to coffee shops and I read and read and read, especially books about the areas of business that I was interested in.
Marketing, internet businesses this kind of thing international businesses okay so I gave myself a PhD in this topic independently and I learned way more way more if I'd went into university and studied that stuff it would have been useless I would not have learned anything useful to actually start
a business success or be successful in a business you have to be independent okay you know this with English.
Why are you here listening to me?
Because you're an independent English learner because you know that your classes at school did not work.
They did not make you fluent, right?
So now you're an independent English learner.
You're going out there and you're listening to podcasts and you're reading books about English and you're watching YouTube videos about English.
And hopefully you're getting courses, getting my course, effortlessenglishclub .com.
My courses are there.
Join my VIP program at effortlessenglishclub .com or get Power English.
You know, and you're practicing on your own.
You're an independent learner.
And that's why you are or will improve so much faster.
You're going to be successful as a fluent English speaker because now you're an independent learner.
You're in charge. You're now the boss.
You're not just sitting waiting for someone to do it.
but you are going out and finding everything you want and need to learn English well and to really speak it, not just take a test, but really, really understand it, speak it fluently like a native speaker.
And that's great. You're already doing this with English.
You want to do this in every area of life that's important.
You want to learn about fitness?
Well, go read 200 books about fitness and exercise and read blogs and watch videos from people who are really great at fitness.
This is not the only thing because we still have secret three.
There's one more thing to do.
But this is the important step two.
And you can see already why energy is important because just to be an independent learner you need more energy.
That's why people like classes.
That's why people go to schools even later as adults because they're tired and lazy.
because sitting on your butt, listening to someone and then just taking notes and then taking tests and memorizing, all that school stuff is way easier.
It's low energy. You just sit passively and then take a test.
The problem is it doesn't work.
It's useless. It will not help you be successful.
To be an independent learner requires a lot more energy.
okay so you need that energy first and then you go out and you learn and like I said you find every different possible way to learn that brings us to number three is that enough is that enough obviously not because learning is just knowledge it's in your brain you got you read 200 books then about business
let's say you've got a lot of ideas how do you know which ones are good and which ones are not good which ones will work for you which ones will not.
And that brings us to number three.
Experiment with your life.
The third secret super important.
You must experiment.
What does it mean? You try things and you fail.
Then you learn. Then you try something else and this never ever ends.
So experiment. experiment endlessly as much as you can.
And a lot of people don't like this.
Why? Because experimenting means failing.
Because when you experiment especially in an area in your life that's new especially an area where you are not successful you're not doing well right now in the beginning you're going to fail constantly.
You're going to try something.
You read all these books.
Now you have 100 ideas in your head.
You pick one, and you try it in your life.
You take action, and you do it.
You experiment. There's a very good chance it will fail.
Probably it's going to fail.
Probably it's not going to work.
Or maybe it works a little bit.
Maybe a lot. You never know, okay?
But most of the time in the beginning, it kind of fails.
And then you're like, ah.
So what? People get frustrated, right?
And again, if their energy is low, they just quit.
But you've got to keep going, And what do you do when you try something?
It fails. Well, now you think about it.
Why did it fail? And now you say, I've got to try something else.
You change it a little bit or you change it a lot.
And then you try another thing, another experiment.
And again and again.
And you have to do this hundreds and hundreds of times.
Hundreds of times. Maybe you did this already as an English learner.
Maybe you've already tried a lot of other methods.
You did school. You tried that.
Maybe you went to some private classes and you went to some conversation courses.
Maybe you had a tutor.
Maybe you tried language exchanges on different websites.
And you've tried all these things and maybe a little success, not much success, didn't like them.
I know it's frustrating, but that's actually good that you've tried these things, even if they didn't work, even if they were kind of failures.
It's a good sign. It's really good that you have already tried a lot of things and failed.
That's great because it's the third secret to success.
You have to do it. Unless you're super lucky and you pick the perfect thing the first time, almost nobody does that.
So probably instead, what's going to happen is you pick it, it doesn't work, and you keep trying, you keep trying, and you keep trying.
And now I think with your English, of course, I believe you found the right thing, effortlessenglishclub .com, effortlessenglishclub .com go to my website get one of my courses and I think you're finally here you gotta follow the exact system just get one of my courses VIP Your Power English and it's
gonna work for you okay but you probably had to try a lot of things before you came here first and you know when you finish my courses maybe you wanna be perfect and you wanna go to academic English and you wanna do lots of other things you might have to try to find some other stuff after that okay
When you're super advanced, you might need something else even.
And maybe, you know, my goal is you do my courses and then after that, you don't need any more courses.
You're done with courses.
After that, you just learn from reading and, you know, like a native speaker.
You just talk to people and you listen to videos and you read real books and you're done with courses.
So that's my goal, my courses, is that I want to get you to that point where you don't need courses anymore.
Okay? And it's the same thing with exercise.
You know, let's say you're fat and lazy and you're tired.
So you might try running first.
And maybe you try it and you try it and you try it.
And, ah, it doesn't work.
And, oh, you get a knee injury or something.
And you're like, ah, don't, don't stop.
That was an experiment.
But something went wrong.
Something happened that was not good.
There's many possibilities.
why? Maybe you were running too fast and too much in the beginning right?
If you're overweight you're not in good shape you're not a runner you didn't you haven't done it before a lot a lot of people will start running they go too long and they go too fast and they end up getting injured or if they don't get injured they just feel tired all the time right?
You're doing it to feel better and instead it makes you more tired all the time.
So that's again, it's another kind of failure.
But it's okay, it's an experiment, it's the third secret, experiment, experiment with your life.
You don't quit, you just change something.
You might say, well, hmm, you read more books about running.
And maybe you find a book called like Slow Burn, it says, stop running fast, just run super slowly.
Oh, I'll try that. Maybe you try that.
Ah, now you start feeling a little better.
Oh, now your injury goes away.
and you're starting to enjoy it more.
You start feeling more energetic in most of your life, right?
And then you can adjust again, adjust again, adjust again, right?
Until now, until suddenly you become like an amazing runner and a long distance runner and someday you're doing marathons, you're doing ultra marathons and then you're advanced, you're a master, okay?
That's awesome. But to get there, you're gonna have a lot of failures and problems and mistakes first.
Accept it. You must do it.
This is what stops so many people.
They just won't do it.
They want everything perfect the first time.
They want to make all the right decisions and have everything work out the first time.
It doesn't happen that way, okay?
Or, you know, another common thing, to use that same example, you might just find, for your body type or your personality, running's not for you.
You try the slow burn, you try the other, You try sprinting.
You try all these different kinds of running.
And you're like, I just hate running.
Oh, I'm sick of it.
So you just go and maybe decide to try tennis.
And then you suddenly realize, I love playing tennis.
I love this game. It's so much more fun.
And then you, you know, you become crazy about tennis.
And that's also fantastic.
So you have to experiment because you also must find what works for you.
We're all a little different.
We all have different strengths, different weaknesses.
different things that are pleasurable or enjoyable to us and different things that we really hate.
So, sometimes something that works for me will not work for you.
Right? And that's true for everybody.
Okay, so again, the three.
Energy number one. Take care of energy.
Three secrets to success.
Number one, energy, energy, energy.
You've got to take care of your physical body.
You've got to exercise.
Get some good nutrition.
This is the first area of life you should study and read a lot of books about.
Okay? I can't teach everything to you in a one hour podcast about this topic.
It's too big. Okay?
And there's too many differences.
We're all kind of different.
I find that with diet, for example, eating, everyone's a little different.
Some people do great on like zero carbs.
Some do quite well on very high carbs, you know, and some people do great on like a traditional vegetarian.
Some People do great on paleo.
So you're going to have to experiment, okay?
You're going to have to learn and experiment in this area of life first.
Energy, energy, energy.
Do whatever you need to do to raise your energy to the highest possible level.
No energy means nothing's going to happen.
Secret number two, independent learning, you've got to do it yourself.
No one else is going to do it for you.
you don't wait for someone else to teach you forget that you are the boss you've got to go out and find all you need to know you have to read hundreds of books about your topic and watch lots of videos about your topic and talk to lots of people about your topic and study people who are already successful
and if you can find some coaches, great you've got to do all of that you've got to become an independent learner and basically teach yourself become like a PhD like an expert on this area of life that you want to succeed at and you have to do it independently don't waste your money on schools or your
time and then the third thing is experiment you have all this knowledge in your head now but that's not that doesn't help you actually get things done so now you have to try things try things after you read all those books and do all that learning you will have hundreds and hundreds of ideas and now
you have to start trying them.
Many of them will fail.
Some of them will succeed a little bit.
Some of them will be big successes.
And again, you're going to have to do hundreds of experiments.
Try and change and adjust and try and change and adjust.
Try and change and adjust.
You have to do this again and again and again and again and again and again over several years.
you will succeed when you follow these three these are the three general big secrets of success okay follow them and I promise you you will succeed if you forget these three if you try to avoid them you're not going to succeed alright let's get into our comments and questions first of all Abraham Ali
a member for 43 months it says for supporting member on YouTube thank you and good to see you Abraham by the way no matter how many times I listen to your shows I always learn something new I never miss an effortless English show because there's always something valuable to learn thank you great to
see you Abraham thank you so much Slavisa another super VIP here says she's saying hi to Vladislav and she is learning Russian now good to see you Vladislav great to see you so lots of our long time VIP members here alright alright let's see Mauserio says when I listen to an accent I get used to it
then it's hard for me to understand other accidents more difficult ones what should I do should I vary the activities more or should I get used to it well it just depends And so, you know, for example, British accent, American accent, Scottish accent, and of course, each of those countries has regional
accents, New York accent, Boston accent, Southern accent, right?
It just depends on your goals.
If you're planning to go to one country, if you're focused on American English or North American English, we should probably say, then you just listen to lots of Americans and Canadians.
If you don't really care about going to England, you know, you're not interested in British culture, then just do that.
But if you have more of a very wide general international approach to English, you want to do a lot of traveling.
You're planning to travel to several different countries where sometimes it might be a British accent.
Sometimes it might be a Malay accent.
Sometimes it might be a American accent.
Then you want to bring in and just, yeah, just expose yourself to these different accents.
sometimes. You can still have your favorite but just occasionally expose yourself, listen to some other accents just so you get used to them a little bit.
Saman says how should we use the action vocabulary videos in your Power English course?
Do all eight videos for a week or listen to the intro first then move to the next one?
Do the videos all together in the same week, the first week.
So week one, do all the videos every day.
Okay, that's called Action Vocabulary.
And it teaches you just the method of remembering vocab.
And you can use that method later then for any word that you are trying to learn that's hard to remember.
Okay? So, but don't do one video a week.
You'll never get done.
It's too slow. Okay, do all the videos in week one.
It's kind of the intro.
To the course. Tannushka White.
Great to see you. See, we got a lot of our long -time members here today.
It's great. Great to see you all.
All right. Good to see you.
Vladislav's saying hello.
Nice to see you again.
I missed the beginning a bit.
No worries. mention some important books please Imra Khan I think we're going to try Old Man and the Sea as our next book club Dede Fitness says what do you think about breath control do you have any books or persons to recommend I know Wim Hof teaches about breath control of course there are a bunch
of yogic breathing techniques you know meditation techniques you know actually something I've been reading about take this as you will but that actually there's the importance of carbon dioxide so actually just breathing into a bag you know like sometimes people with asthma do that you do that for like
one minute it raises your carbon dioxide in your body and then this can cause your blood vessels to open and actually it causes a reaction in your body where then you then get more energy and more oxygen later you can try it don't do it if you have any weird health problems Chris says I totally agree
with you prayer leads to you to rest in the fact that God is in control of all things he is sovereign and nothing happens without his permission yes good summary exactly you can let go of a lot of that stress It's a Life says Is violin the instrument easy to learn and play I don't know but I've heard
it's hard I've heard it's difficult Does anybody know?
Paolo Jose says Hi Jay I love your videos you're the best English teacher in the world great tips you rock thank you dark side says thank you for everything you change my entire life i'm a better english speaker and a better person because of you may god bless you that's very nice thank you so much
congratulations all right yeah here at game stepper with an example of some music jump by van halen is my go -to song when it comes to lifting up my energy and mood.
I go nuts when I watch the video.
That's a good one, yeah.
Panama by Van Halen is also a good one.
I like that one. Panama, you know, with a great video as well.
So there's a lot of songs like that, right?
You could find a song like that that works for you, that really just, you know, you hear it and instantly you feel energized, kind of excited.
Ah, you just want to jump up and down.
Well, do it, close the door, go somewhere alone.
or if your family doesn't mind you know turn it up loud and jump around while you do it play jump play you know Van Halen's a good one Panama's a good one from Van Halen Hot for Teacher would be a good one Van Halen ACDC has some good ones you know there's a lot of them John Taylor Gatto was right says
right to truth exactly John Ciaragato wrote about homeschooling and independent learning he was 100 % right Safa says I'm interested in teaching any books you suggest are you talking about specifically language teaching or just general teaching there's one called tools for I always forget the title tools
for teaching or tools for teachers tools for teaching I think it's called what's his name Fred Jones anyway that's a good one if you're teaching a classroom Chris says you're the only teacher who encourages me not to give up on my English learning when I feel unmotivated I watch your videos and they
encourage me to continue yes well that is one of the most important jobs of a teacher is to be a coach and to encourage you and keep you motivated because again if you quit you fail so if any teacher so -called teacher who makes you feel bad who hurts your confidence who makes you feel more and more
stressed they're not much of a teacher chilly guy AJ you have gray hair now yes for quite a long time but you look handsome and energetic that's nice Adoracion says how's it going?
greetings from Panama greetings to you Dedi Fitness with a good point after being exposed to school for so many years taking action feels difficult we need to gain momentum right now you see the true purpose of school It makes people passive, right?
Because it kills that independent learning in most people.
And most people get so used to just sitting, waiting for a teacher just to give them everything.
Do this, do this, do this.
Is it going to be on the test, right?
How many times have you heard that in a classroom where a student raises their hand?
Is this going to be on the test?
That's all they care about is memorizing things for a test.
not actually learning anything useful and certainly not learning any skills they can use in their life so yeah after you do that 12 years or 14 years or 16 years or 20 years most people become super passive and these 3 secrets I talk about become very difficult for them that's why the energy one is so important
again because you're going to have to overcome all that bad training from school and get rid of this idea.
I've seen it. So many people, they just can't do it.
You have to break this idea that someone's going to give it to you.
Okay, you have to have the idea that you have to go out and find the information.
You have to go out and find success.
You have to go out and find what you want to learn.
You've got to search for it and do it all yourself.
Forget having someone else do it for you.
No one's going to do it for you.
Even the best coach in the world cannot do anything for you.
So you've, you've got to do this.
Right, the truth says, is that a Buddhist dharma wheel beside you?
Come what man? Yes, it's a dharma wheel.
Buddhist or Sanatana dharma.
they both right Dharma Wheel symbolizes Dharma or natural law correct where is it over my shoulder Amina says being happy and having freedom even if you're living a simple life is also success well exactly and that's why you have to decide for yourself because you know the media and the schools and society
in general will try to push a certain idea but especially media of success which usually involves materialistic things certain kinds of cars and houses and money all the things you see with celebrities right people always like you know celebrities are successful but you don't have to accept any of that you
can make your own idea of success I think a much simpler life for sure so I agree with Amina Vladislav says to go to school to learn anything people have been taught by school in the beginning it's okay to join a class to get some basics but after that you have to work for yourself exactly you've got
to do it and even like you know fairly technical training at least in the states they may learn like say engineering okay they got to learn some advanced math and things but they still learn a lot on the job and the truth is you could learn it all by yourself still why wait that's the other thing how
many kids who are like 17 16 years old they're interested in engineering but everyone tells oh well you gotta wait you can't go to engineering school yet you gotta wait till you're 18 and then when you go to off the university you have to go to a technical school and the first year you have to take
a bunch of other stuff english and all this other stuff because we're going to make you do it.
So you waste three years.
You want to be an engineer.
You want to study engineering, but three years, the kids don't do it.
Why not get online, get some books, just start learning engineering by yourself.
And then when you finally get to engineering school, you're going to be so far ahead of everybody else.
It'll be easy because you've already spent three years learning it by yourself.
Don't wait. You don't need to wait to join some program to learn anything.
alright the truth says today we are celebrating the beginning of spring Vasant Panchami honor the goddess of knowledge Sarasvati it is considered an auspicious day for new beginnings and learning excellent thank you Amin says Deidreje you look younger and more energetic now it's just less stress it's
energy i've been focusing on energy since uh well since december since the end of last year and uh it's my focus this year is this first secret working on it myself so uh because i had like i said i was struggling in this area so it makes you i guess it makes you look younger but it's not surprising
younger people are more energetic and we tend to think of older people as being tired all the time.
Fatmira Kahlo says, hi, AJ.
I'm a member of VIP and I'm so happy learning with your lessons.
God bless you. Thank you, Fatmira.
That's very nice. Welcome to VIP.
Raul says, greetings from Spain.
okay let's see a lot of comments i need to hurry up here wow there's a lot cool ali says over the last few years you've become my best my best friend because i start to end all my days with you lots of love to you from iran thank you ali hussaini thank you okay i'm going to jump down to the bottom and kind
of go backwards here a little bit okay let's see Amina says in school first you learn lessons then you take tests but in real life first you take tests then you learn lessons if that's well put yeah exactly that's right in life you know this is that third secret I said experimenting you try something
and you learn a lesson right you learn something something happens and you know it's kind of like it's a the the test is doing it and seeing what happens you get a result so you get the result first and then you learn from the result right in school they have it backwards they try to make you you know
learn a lesson first and then they test you to give you a result and it's the exact opposite which is why it doesn't work in real life fernando diaz hey i read the book by the way fernando glucose revolution been trying some of the uh experimenting with some of the ideas i am feeling much better it's
a good idea i'll talk about it uh so fernando diaz says uh so many options to learn nowadays gamification is a new one exactly there's so many great ways you can learn independently we're in a golden age of independent learning right now so don't don't miss it anything you want to do you can find so much
now online including books and ebooks i mean anything Lisa says Lisa Bogner says What can inspire us to succeed?
We must believe in ourselves And instead of comparing ourselves to others We should be inspired by them Yeah, right I Well, again, this comes This is kind of that First idea of Deciding what is success And And, you know, you want to, I think it works best in life to define, to think of success according
to you. Not compared to everyone else, you know.
Like, so for example, money.
This is a problem you'll see with people who are very rich, is that they're always comparing.
It's never, never, never enough.
So they might have a hundred million dollars, all they could ever need for money, finances, but then they look around, they see billionaires and they, and they, you know, the people they're around are all super rich too.
And so they're comparing themselves to these super rich people and they see a lot of other super rich that are, you know, have more money than them.
And then they feel oh well I only have a hundred million.
Look at all these billionaires and then they want more and more and more.
It's the same with power.
They want more and more and more.
It's never enough. So is that success?
I don't know. For me it's not success.
If you're miserable and unhappy it's if you're focused on material things.
For me it's not success at all.
Or it's a very miserable kind of success that I don't want.
The Immortal says, AJ Hogue, thank you so much for inspiring me.
I watched your old video about New Year's resolutions, about habits, and about one main habit, thinking.
Great job, coach. Greetings from a Russian soul.
Thank you very much.
Thank you. Yes, Vladislav.
When's my birthday?
March. Correct. Vladislav is right.
Ulas Dimirgl Sorry about mispronouncing your name He says I took your Power English Course one year ago I love you and your system When I see you I feel I see my close friend Probably I'm younger than about 10 years thank you for everything oh thank you that's great thanks maybe I'll meet you sometime
when my kids get a little older one of them in particular gets a little calmer and we can handle airplane long airplane trips you know frequently I'd love to do traveling with my kids and and at that time you know meet a lot of you in different countries around the world used to do that before I'd like
to do it again HMK with a very specific question I request that you share some information about how to write cover letters effectively to land an interview I face a lot of difficulty it takes one day to prepare a cover letter to apply for a single job ok I'm going to promote a course of mine and I'm
sorry to do marketing here but it's this is a big topic and I think my cover letter system is awesome okay and when i mean awesome i mean you will get interviews okay so get my power english course i mean not power english course the sorry wrong one business english business english you're asking for business
get my business english course business english course effortlessenglishclub .com that website there because that course teaches you how to do cover letters in a really powerful way and how also to do fantastic in -job interviews in English or even in your own language but certainly in English and how
to do just a great effective job search and get a much better job I mean this is a it's an amazing system it's a system I used myself back before my business and this is a system that came from my own pain okay meaning I would I hated jobs okay all through my teen years my 20s and my 30s so 23 years
um something like that 20 21 years of working jobs I hated it hated hated hated it and I changed jobs all the time like probably once a year I would if I averaged it probably I would change jobs at least once a year sometimes I went a little longer like two years was my maximum and then I got bored
or I just hated it and I would have to get another one so what was the problem the problem is but because I would quit jobs so much and change jobs I had to do so many job searches and like this cover letters and interviews so so stressful I mean who likes doing that I nobody likes it oh I hated it
I hated it right like first of all how do I find jobs and you know I would need money obviously so I would look at that time you know I would look they would do it on the newspaper so I would look in newspapers for job ads ads now of course online but then a lot of the ones i would see or most of them
i would just say i don't like any of these they all sound bad how can i find better jobs than this i can't find them where are they so that was the first pain point i had to solve took a long time to figure out and again what how did i figure it out i read hundreds of books about job searching cover
letters resumes CV's job interview questions all these things and then I experimented experimented and I did the same three process three step process for this I became very good at getting jobs and very good at searching for jobs and the job search method I finally figured out and the cover letter
system was awesome.
The first time I tried it I couldn't believe how well I suddenly started getting all these calls and job interviews.
And before you know it would be a small percent.
You know before typically you know I would send out I don't know you know let's say 50 cover letters right about job ads and then maybe lucky if I was lucky you get one or two calls but when i finally started this system which i teach you in best i teach you in my business english course i suddenly
i was getting you know i would send out first of all i'd send out a lot less less time i didn't waste time it's a much better system so i would send out maybe uh 10 cover letters and get seven or eight interviews it's a amazingly high percentage it was it's just the and why does it work why does this uh cover
letter system work why did this does my business english uh job system work because it's different it's very very different.
So your letter will be different than everybody else's letter.
Okay. That's why they call you, because they notice you.
You know, this is the problem of marketing.
This is the problem of job searching.
What's the problem?
I'll tell you the problem from both sides.
I'll tell you the problem from my side, as now a business owner, if I'm hiring somebody, I'm looking for people.
And I'll tell you the problem from your side, you're trying to find a job.
The problem from your side, what?
There's hundreds of other people also trying to get that job, right?
So, you see an ad on some website, maybe, and you send your cover letter to the company, to the person.
How many letters do you think they get?
Hundreds. If it's a really big company, a famous company, possibly thousands of letters for that job.
So just imagine like on my side now, the business owner or the person in the, in the company who has to read the letters.
You know how fast they read the letters?
It's about, let me see.
I don't have a piece of paper.
It's about one second.
They go, they look at the letter.
Next. Next. Next. Next.
that's how fast they're not carefully reading your letter they're glancing at it they're looking at it for usually like two or three seconds if it's a big company and they're getting lots and lots and lots of letters and in those two or three seconds most of the letters they just throw into the trash
throw next next next next occasionally one looks a little different something catches their eye they put it in another pile this is the maybe pile and the maybe pile later maybe they have 20 in the maybe pile at the end they'll get that maybe pile and now they'll actually read that maybe pile they'll
read those letters a little bit more carefully they might actually take one minute for each one but again one minute only and again most of them get thrown out and then finally they have a you know 5, 6, 8 whatever depends and those are the people that get called right so it's so this is your challenge
when you do a cover letter how can you get their attention in like three seconds two seconds and you have there's a and there's a few answers to this okay one answer is you don't send your letter to the same person that everyone else is sending it to that's part of my system it's the first part in the job
searching you don't send it to human resources which they call I hate that name but anyway you know the hiring department and the big the big hiring department in the company you do not send your resume there you do not send your cover letter there you're just gonna be one of a thousand and probably
ignored you have to send it somewhere else the second thing is your letter must immediately look different I don't mean weird colors or weird graphics or anything crazy, but just the format of it and the way it's organized, it has to look different immediately.
They look at the page and it just looks different and it has to be designed so the person can look at it and in about three seconds get a couple, just one or two, good, positive, strong ideas.
that's all you need you're not trying to write a big long lot but huge most people their letter cover letters are too long and there's too much in it it's a big mistake because it never gets read in fact it gets thrown into the trash you have to think you have to think the cover letter is like an advertisement
that you would see like a google ad that's actually a good example your cover letter should be more like a google ad do a search on google and look at the ads Look how short and quick they are, and they try to get your attention very fast.
That's what your cover letter has to do when you're trying to get a job.
Think of your cover letter as an ad, a Google ad, a Facebook ad.
That's what it is. It's not really a letter.
It's in the form of a letter, but what it really is, it's an advertisement for you.
And it has to be fast.
And it has to get their attention super quickly.
All you need with a cover letter is you just want them to call you.
You're not trying to sell yourself.
You don't have to, you're not going to get the job from your cover letter.
Okay, you just want them to ask you to come to an interview.
You just want them to be curious about you.
So the whole point of a cover letter is just to make them curious enough to call you.
Hey, like your cover letter.
We want to, let's do an interview.
Let's schedule an interview.
so that's a lot about this topic but i'm passionate about this topic because like i said it was such a painful painful painful thing in my life for 21 years uh the stress of trying to find jobs and job interviews cover letters oh i know i feel as bill clinton used to say i feel your pain i know how
stressful it is i know it's it's terrible.
And I also know why people are so frustrated, because what do people do?
Everyone's reading the same articles and the same books about cover letters and the same books about job searching the same books about doing a CV or resume because of that they all look the same I can tell you I have hired people myself so I've asked for interviews and people send me cover letters
and they send me resumes they all look the same they're all doing exactly the same thing which means they're boring which means they get ignored and thrown away okay so whatever you do you can't be boring and you cannot be the same as everybody else or you get ignored and then you never get the jobs
you want okay anyway get my business English course I'm passionate about get it it will if you are looking for a job if you need to do a job search sometime even in your own language but definitely in English if you need to do cover letters if you need to do resumes or CVs if you need to do job interviews
please get my business English course I promise you I'll give you a refund if you don't like it you get a full 100 % refund if you don't like it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, AJ.
It was much more than just English.
Okay? EffortlessEnglishClub .com.
Get that Business English course.
I promise you. It is, it will save you a lot of pain and stress.
all right last comment I talked a lot about that but I'm passionate about it because it's so much pain I know man I know how painful it is I mean it says do you still read books about marketing and business or have you quit reading about it not as much now because you know you do hit a point where you
are you achieve your goals and you kind of master a certain area but i occasionally do uh it's just in the beginning you know when you're trying to achieve your goals success you have to read hundreds and hundreds now you know i read them only if i think it's if it sounds different because after you
read a hundred marketing books guess what most of them are kind of similar so it becomes a bit boring like i open the page and immediately i look at the contents i'm like oh it's the same as all the other ones and so I do I will still read marketing books I do sometimes uh sometimes I reread I read
again some of my favorites just to remind me of some ideas or if something sounds very unique someone's doing like for example with AI is a is a quite new thing now so I have read some books about AI and marketing and things like that.
But I tend to focus, I'm focused right now, I'm focused on health, energy, metabolism.
That's the thing that I need in my life right now.
So that is my big focus for this year.
All right. Well, Hesham says, the number one English coach in the world.
