The podcast dreams to help you improve your speaking skills as well as your listening skills along theway.
We've started this podcast to give youhappiness, joy, perfectjokes, and gorgeous grandma with vocabulary for your high-IELTSscore.
Your bad-nightscore.Ben-night,ben-night.
Oh,why? Your t-shirts isn'tblack!
What's theoccasion,Rory?
Is itholidays, yourbirthday?
Can youguess? We are talking aboutt-shirts.
Absolutely. Let's talk aboutt-shirts.
Again.Again,Dylissina, it's acomeback.
We talked about t-shirts in February2023, so kind of a yearago.
And now IELTS people decided to have this topicagain, sot-shirts.
Here wego. Could you please watch our super video about t-shirts where Rory actually changes hist-shirts?
It's like one of the only times I've done a costumechange.
Iknow. Rory tends to wear only black t-shirts and it's usually only like one t-shirt Roryis.
You have onet-shirt. That'sall?
Yes. One blackt-shirt?
It's by one black t-shirt for the whole year and then wear it until it fallsapart.
So when you get ready for the topic oft-shirts, watch thevideo, listen to our episodes in2023, and to this episode2.
Do you usually weart-shirts?
Thesedays, only if I'm out withpeople.
Normally, I just wear a vest or a singlet andhoodie, since it's easier to throw on and just wearcasually.
And I don't need to get dressed up all thetime, doI?
Do you like wearingt-shirts?
I don't really have a problem withthem, to behonest, but now I work fromhome, there's little need to have them on all thetime.
I like them when I'mout, they go up with just aboutanything.
Would you buy t-shirts as souvenirs onholiday?
I usedto, butno, notreally.
I don't think it's very sustainable oreconomical, to behonest.
Better to take nothing but photos and leave nothing butfootprints.
Do you like t-shirts with pictures andprints?
When I wasyounger, I would often buythem, butagain, notnow, I think it makes me come across as a bit childish or silly in myopinion.
It's just not to mytaste, or at least not to my grown-uptaste.
Are older people who wear t-shirtsfashionable?
I have noidea. I don't have much of a fashion sensemyself, so I can't exactly pass judgment onothers, but I would consider it normal for an older person to wear a t-shirt if they wantedto.
It doesn't sway me one way or theother.

I weart-shirts. I think everybody wearst-shirts.
When I'm out withpeople, so I'm out out of thehouse, I'm withpeople, I wear at-shirt, or I weart-shirts.
So careful withshirts.
And then worry uses some topics specificvocabulary.
What kind of clothes does hewear?
Wear a vest or asinglet.
So what's asinglet? A singlet is just a kind ofvest, to behonest.
So go to Google images assinglets.
Like I'm singlet assinglet.
Although as it turns out there are many kinds ofsinglet.
There's one forwrestling, which obviously I don'twear, but there's also just a kind of vest to behonest.
Oh,okay. So but a singlet for working out here to go to thegym.
Yes.Well, Imean, I don't think it makes a difference to behonest.
I don't wear that to go to thegym, but you can if youlike.
Yeah, always sometimes I wear ahoodie, but a hoodie is not at-shirt.
It isnot,no, but that's what you wear overit.
Yeah. So make sure you use two of thesewords.
Forexample, like, ohyeah, usually wear at-shirt, or avest, or asinglet.
Usually I put a hoodieon, ahoodie.
It's easier to throwone.
So kind of ahoodie, it's easier to throw a hoodie on at-shirt.
It's easier to throw a hoodie than at-shirt.
Oh, it's easier to put on a hoodie rather than at-shirt.
I thinkso,yeah. It's like this orso.
You just put up your hands and it balls onyou.
Yeah. So you don't wear a t-shirt under yourhoodie.
No, wearthis.Okay,okay.
So, and the verbs we canuse, I put on at-shirt, I wear at-shirt, I put on at-shirt, and then I put on ahoodie.
Oh, I kindof, it's easier to throw on ahoodie.
I wear casualclothes, so if you wear t-shirts andhoodies, these clothes arecasual.
And you can say that I don't get dressed up every day because I wear a hoodie and a t-shirt and Rory used a tag questionhere.
I don't need to get dressed up all thetime, doI?
Although I think I might be pushing it a little bit if Isay, then putting on a t-shirt is getting dressedup.
But forme, itis. What is dressedup?
Yes, dressed up is just making an effort with your appearance in myopinion.
And I think t-shirt is making aneffort.
But other opinions areavailable.
Tilllisten, I look athim.
Yeah, so to get dressed up is to put on somethingnice, like a lovely dress or a nicejacket.
And forRory, wearing a simple t-shirt is getting dressedup, oh mygod.
Okay, but you can saylike, okay, I don't need to get dressed up all thetime, doI?
Or like everybody wearst-shirts, don'tthey?
That was alsonice, tagquestions.
I love wearingt-shirts.
Rorysaid, I don't really have a problem withthem, so I'm absolutely okay witht-shirts.
I have them on all thetime.
Are there little needs to have them on all thetime?
Okay, you don't say put themon, you can sayjust, okay, I have themon.
I wearthem. So to have something on means to wearit.
T-shirts go with just aboutanything.
Here we are talking aboutstyle.
So t-shirts matchjeans.
They go with any otherclothes.
Okay? But weknow, there isno, that t-shirts don't go withanything.
Well, it should be like a special t-shirt or kind of a nice t-shirt to go with this trousers or withjeans.
So youknow, you should think aboutit.
You put things on randomly like Rorydoes.
I don't put things onrandomly.
They just put things on when you'recomfortable.
But that's notrandom, everyone'sconsistent.
We usually buy t-shirts assouvenirs.
Arewe?Yeah,well, I used to buy lots oft-shirts.
Yeah, when I visitedIreland, I have a t-shirt fromIreland, fromLondon.
I have a hoodie fromOxford.
Oh myGod,why? What's themost?
Isit? Do I need to buy one when I'mthere?
Yes,Rory.Absolutely.
Rory,yes. And saysOxford.
Comeon. By the timeless episode is goingout, I will be in a store in Oxford buying the hoodie justbecause...
Consurrism.Yes, but this is just amust, it's liketradition.
And,Dylissna, yes, our Rory will go toOxford, but not like thestudy, but to teachpeople.
Can you imagine our Rory inOxford?
Wow. In an Oxfordhoodie.
Actually, that's not a bad idea because my current hoodie is falling topieces.
I'm going to make a note of that in the diarynow.
There yougo. You can say that I used to buy t-shirts assouvenirs, but notanymore.
And then you can quoteRory.
It's better to take nothing butphotos, so don't take anysouvenirs, takephotos.
And leave nothing butfootprints.
So, afteryourself, you leave only your footprints which are on theground.
You don't leave anyrubbish, any, youknow, badenergy.
That's actually aphrase.
Take nothing but pictures and leave nothing butfootprints.
It's to encourage people not to mess up the area that they'revisiting, Isuppose.
Yeah, like don't buystuff.
Just, youknow, leave happily with one t-shirt and onehoodie.
You don't even need trousers orshoes, youknow, just adefine.
Let's talk about what's the stain of allmeans.
Sustainable, yes. One of the core concepts of sustainable is that it's something that can be done over a long period oftime.
So, if you are just producing t-shirts for people to buy as souvenirs on aholiday, that's not verysustainable.
Because they have to be manufactured cheaply and shipped across theworld.
And it createspollution.
And then people buythem.
And because they're cheaplymade, they fallapart.
And the people who make these things are not paidwell.
So, all inall, it's not a very good thing to beunsustainable.
Yes, so you can say like buying t-shirts as souvenirs is not verysustainable.
Hey. And it's noteconomical.
So, economical because you spendmoney,right?
Well, it's not just to do withthat.
It's alsobecause, well, usually they're expensive and then they fallapart.
So, I don't see the point in buyingit.
It's not going to last for a reasonable amount oftime.
T-shirts could be withpictures, prints or differentpatterns.
And here you can usewood.
So, you can speak about your childhood or your earlyyears.
When you were achild. And you can say that when I wasyounger, I would often buy them with prints andpictures, with, I don'tknow, different faces of famousmusicians, forexample.
So, yousee, wood. This means that when I wasyounger, I often bought t-shirts with pictures andprints.
Instead ofbought, you can say wood oftenbuy.
But this means that in thepast, you did itregularly.
You can also use usedto.
When I was achild, I used to buy t-shirts with pictures andprints.
When I wasyounger, I would often buythem.
But notnow. Such t-shirts make me come across as a bit childish or silly comeacross.
So, if I wear a t-shirt with pictures orprints, I come across assilly.
So, come across like people see me as a silly person as a childishperson, like as achild.
Yes, the impression youcreate.
And you cansay, like, well, such t-shirts are not to mytaste.
I don't like sucht-shirts, they are not to mytaste.
I prefer plain t-shirts like yellow or black or black orblack.
Also, I enjoyblack. Who are you describinghere?
Blaine,black,t-shirts, plain like a fullyblack.
All the people who wear t-shirts could befashionable.
Rory has noidea. And you cansay, here they areeven.
Sorry, I have noidea. The way the Maria saidthat, like, Rory is obviously notfashionable.
Goodbye.Yeah, but all the people can befashionable.
Like, doesn't matter what theywear.
Yeah, I thinkso. And here Rory explainsit, like, I don't have much over fashion sincemyself.
So, I'm not infashion. I don't have a fashion sincemyself.
I can't pass judgment onothers.
To pass judgment onpeople, what does itmean?
It means to discuss something about their character ortheir, how theylook, just based on theirappearance.
So, this is passingjudgment.
They're a good person or a badperson.
They dress well or they dressbadly.
But if you are like me and you don't have much of a fashionsense, you're not very good atfashion.
And you can't turn around or you can't talk to people andsay, well, you have no fashionsense.
Because that'shypocritical.
Yeah, and then Rory uses anidiom.
It doesn't sway me one way or theother.
What does itmean? It just means I don't care if I don't think about them being fashionable orunfashionable.
Just whatever they're wearing doesn't sway me in thisdirection.
It doesn't send me in this particulardirection.
And could you give us anotherexample?
Well, you'll need to ask me a questionfirst.
Preferably one with two possibleanswers.
Are people who wear jeansfashionable?
Well, I don'tknow. I don't have much of a taste injeans.
So I can't exactly pass two to a minuteon.
But it's normal for people to wear jeans if they wantto.
So Imean, this doesn't sway me one way or theother.
So if they wearjeans, you'reokay.
And if you don't wearjeans, you don'tcare.
I don't mind if theydon't.
Just wearsomething.Chargers.
Short.Anything.Okay, what about some othertopic?
Yeah, and forexample, like beautifulpeople.
Do you think that beautiful people are alwayssmart?
Yeah. So in the sameway, Imean, you could be beautiful and you could beclever.
But I don't think those thingsare, they go hand inhand.
They're not innately connected to eachother.
So if I see someone who could look atit, it doesn't sway me one way or theother.
I need to hear what they have to say about differenttopics.
Yeah,sweet.Right,Dillisna.
Make sure you listen to our episodes in2023.
The link is in thedescription.
And watch our video to see Rory changing hist-shirts.
It'sfun.Well,no, just to see the differentt-shirts, not to see me getting in and out ofthem.
Yeah, I like how many t-shirts did youchange?
Likefive?Five,six.Wow.
Yes, I likeDillisna. Go to ourYouTube.
The link is in thedescription.
Bye. Do I usually weart-shirts?
Thesedays, only if I'm out withpeople.
Normally, I just wear a vest or a single-it-and-who-deep-sense-it's easier to throw on and just wearcasually.
And I don't need to get dressed up all thetime, doI?
Do you like wearingt-shirts?
I don't really have a problem withthem, to behonest.
But now I work fromhome, there's little need to have them on all thetime.

It's just not to mytaste, or at least not to my grown-uptaste.

I have noidea. I don't have much of a passion sincemyself, so I can't exactly pass judgement onothers.
But I would consider it normal for an older person to wear a t-shirt if they wantedto.
