Hey, from CNN, I'm Afoma Dike with the five things you need to know for Tuesday, April 21st.
We start with the holdup in peace talks between the U.S. and Iran.
Officials familiar with the matter say fueling the uncertainty is the Strait of Hormuz blockade by the US.
They say Iran wants the blockade to be lifted before another round of direct negotiations take place.
Iran's foreign minister says the blockade of Iranian ports amounts to an act of war and violates the two-week ceasefire agreement, which President Donald Trump says expires tomorrow evening.
White House officials say that's among the reasons why the US delegation, including Vice President JD,
Vance and key negotiators Steve Wyckoff and Jared Kushner, haven't left the U.S. for Pakistan.
Sources tell CNN they're meeting at the White House to discuss the path forward.
In an interview with CNBC, Trump said he expects to continue bombing Iran if there is no deal.
More news coming up, including the latest lawmaker in Congress stepping down.
We'll see you next time.
Congresswoman Sheila Scherfelis McCormick has resigned from the House of Representatives today.
Had she not stepped down, she would have likely faced a vote this week on the House floor to remove her.
CNN's Manu Raju is on Capitol Hill.
She decided to announce her resignation, which was just read on the House floor, because the House Ethics Committee was about to recommend what sanctions to move ahead with in the aftermath of finding her guilty in its own investigation into misconduct largely involving her use of funds.
There's allegations that she stole 5 million in COVID relief money, diverting that money to herself rather than it being used for its proper use.
She has denied all of that, but she's been facing federal charges in that case.
She's pleaded not guilty in the federal criminal case.
In a statement on social media, the Florida Democrat maintained her innocence and denounced what she described as a quote witch hunt against her.
Two U.S. embassy officials who died in a car accident in Mexico on Sunday worked for the CIA.
Three people briefed on the matter confirmed to CNN.
Two Mexican officials were also killed in the crash.
According to initial reports, both parties were returning from a drug raid when their car crashed on a highway in Chihuahua State.
One of the people briefed says the circumstances surrounding the accident are still under investigation.
The CIA declined to comment.
Mexico's President, Claudia Sheinbaum, said authorities are investigating the reports, but says her government wasn't aware of any direct collaboration with the Mexican state and in the US.

New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel addressed photos showing him with longtime NFL reporter Diana Rossini at an Arizona resort.
I've had some difficult conversations with people that I care about, with my family, the organization, the coaches, the players.
Those have been positive and productive.
We believe in order to be successful on and off the field, you have to make good decisions.
That includes me.
That starts with me.
According to the New York Post, the photos were taken before the annual NFL meetings that began in Phoenix on March 29th.
After the story was published, Vrabel and Rossini, who are both married, released written statements to The Post downplaying what the photos depict.
Rossini resigned from The Athletic less than a week later, after The Post's report launched an internal investigation at the sports outlet owned by The New York Times.
The NFL said last weekend that it's not investigating Vrabel's behavior.

A string of scientists tied to sensitive us research have died or disappeared in recent years, which sparked the federal investigation.
Cnn's natasha chen has more.
The circumstances of these dozen or so people vary widely, from people whose deaths had been publicly reported and explained, with suspects arrested, to people whose disappearances truly leave detectives stumped.
Now I've tried to reach out to as many family members and close friends of these people as I could, and the reactions also range widely, from some of them laughing this off as ridiculous to others hoping a federal investigation will finally give them some answers.
Now the request for briefings from the FBI, the Defense Department and Department of Energy, NASA comes from the Republican led House Oversight Committee.
Now the White House press secretary, Caroline Leavitt, posted last week about what she called recent and legitimate questions about these troubling cases that they would holistically review all the cases together and leave no stone unturned.
Well, that is it for us.
Our next episode drops tomorrow morning.
I'm CNN tech reporter Claire Duffy.
This week on the podcast Terms of Service.
What do we know about how much AI is contributing to energy consumption, energy demand right now?
And how does that compare with other industries?
The best resource for that is the International Energy Agency, which is sort of the global energy think tank that collects data on all of this.
And what they predict is that about 8 of the additional electricity that we're going to need by 2030 that will be for data centers.
The other 92% is for other things, industry electrification, electric vehicles, energy.
And AI is really only driving part of that increase in demand.
