Hi, my name is Evie and this is a video to help you practice your listening comprehension.
Today we are going out to buy a coffee and to walk my dog Wilson.
It is going to be a cosy, relaxing day because it is raining outside.
It has been raining all morning.
But now I think the rain has stopped.
So let's go outside.
Let's take Wilson for a walk and let's spend some time together.
So I'm going to be cold. if I don't put on a jumper.
I'm going to wear this one and it's this amazing azure blue.
We would also say in the UK that it is like a royal blue colour.
I'm also going to need a coat just in case it rains again.
I don't know if you can see me okay but this is Wilson.
Wilson is a sausage dog so he is super small and he is very low to the ground.
Basically Wilson hates the rain.
I think he might need little bit of persuasion to come outside with us today.
Here is Wilson.
Let's go.
To take Wilson for a walk we need two things.
One is his harness.
This goes over the top of his head and underneath his belly.
This part here under his arms is called his armpits and we need a lead as well.
Let's go!
Come on then!
Good boy!
Okay, I'm in the car with Wilson.
This is his tennis ball.
Wilson loves tennis balls.
This is his favorite thing.
My favorite thing in the whole world is coffee.
So let's go.
So we just arrived and it started raining again.
You can see the windscreen wipers on my car are moving.
So that means the rain has started again.
Okay, i now have my, my coffee.
It's an iced caramel latte, which is my favorite coffee and it's so good.
I also wanted to talk a little bit about the fact that wilson could go into the cafe with me.
I know that in every country this is not normal, but in the UK there are lots of cafes where you are allowed to bring your dog, and lots of pubs as well, so it's quite common to see dogs in cafes.
For example, there were two dogs in the cafe today, So now it's time to take him Wilson, for a walk.
Let's turn on the engine and see if it still beeps at me.
Okay, this is better but this is too much.
Okay, we have just arrived.
There is so much wind.
Last night there was a storm and the waves are breaking over the top of the cliffs, so I think this is going to be quite a short walk today.
What do you think, Wilson?
Another thing about this beach is okay.
We have both just got back into the car.
It is like so windy outside, i am so cold, my hands are freezing because The wind is really strong.
I also wanted to say this is my seatbelt.
And if you're wondering what the verb is for a seatbelt is, we put our seatbelt on.
Also, my car is an automatic car.
I don't have to change gear, so this is the gear stick and I just put it into drive mode and then the car will change gear for me.
Down here, there are only two pedals this is the gas, this is go and this is the brake.
If this car was a manual car, if this car had a gear stick, then we would have another pedal here, which in english we call the clutch.
This as well is my steering wheel.
These are my wing mirrors.
This here is the dashboard.
If you don't know how to drive, Sorry for that explanation, but I thought I would give you some car vocabulary while we're here.
And it's time for us to go home.
We just got back from our walk.
Um, it's time to take off wilson's harness over his head again.
And he, he doesn't want to be, but he needs his belly to be dry.
Good boy wilson, you're a good boy, you.
There we go.
So it's now time for lunch.
I have put some toast, some toast in the toaster, and here we have some soup.
I cannot eat all of this soup, so in This saucepan I am going to ladle
This is a ladle.
I am going to ladle in one portion of soup just for me.
Also in the UK we really like butter.
So i have this little pot of butter.
It has crumbs.
Crumbs in it, but i'm going to butter my toast.
If you put butter on something, the verb is to butter it, so i'm going to butter my toast.
Can you see?
The butter has melted into the toast so good.
Now I have washed up the dishes.
It's time to dry them off and put them away.
I need to wipe down the counter as well.
The rain has turned to ice and we call that hail.
