Listen for the sounds Listen listen listen Hello Hello Hello Hello, Listen everyone.
Listen and play.
Where are we today?
We're outside in a field.
That's right.
There's a large animal running about in the field.
Listen carefully and see if you can tell what animal it is.
If you put those sounds together, it makes... Horse.
There's a horse in the field.
Yes, the horse is called Neddy and he belongs to Farmer Ed.
I wonder if you know where they live.
It's on a place called a... Can you put those sounds together to make a word?
Farm.
They live on a farm.
That's right.
It's a farm.
Farmer Ed's horse is always in a bit of a hurry.
There's a special word for the way he moves.
Farmer Ed's horse likes to... Can you put those sounds together to make a word?
Trot.
Farmer Ed's horse likes to trot.
Today's song is about the different ways that horses move.
Sometimes trotting, sometimes galloping.
Join in with me and move up and down like the horse to the music.
Sometimes fast and sometimes slow.
This is the way the ladies ride, trit trot, trit trot.
This is the way the ladies ride, trit trot, trit trot, trit trot.
This is the way the gentlemen ride, a gallop, a trot, a gallop, a trot.
This is the way the gentlemen ride, a gallop, a trot, a gallop.
This is the way the farmer rides jiggity jog, jiggity jog.
This is the way the old man rides hobbledy hoy, hobbledy hoy, Down into the dish.
Here's a rhyme about a horse that I'm sure you'll know.
Join in if you like.
Horsey, horsey, don't you stop.
Just let your feet go clippity-clop.
Your tail goes swish and your wheels go round.
Giddy-up, we're homeward bound.
Horsey, horsey, off you trot.
Just let your hooves go tritty trot.
Hold your head up high as the wheels go round.
Giddy up, we're off to town.
Listen, listen, listen in Storytime.
Our story today is about a farmer called Ed who likes to sing and his trusty cart horse, Neddy.
Shh!
Listen, listen.
The story's called Steady Neddy.
Once upon a clip-clopping time, there was a horse called Steady Neddy.
He lived on a farm that was owned by Farmer Ed.
One day, Farmer Ed came to Steady Neddy's stable early in the morning.
We're going into town today, Neddy, he said.
There's a singing competition and I want to enter.
So Farmer Ed fixed the cart to Steady Neddy and off they went into town.
And Steady Neddy's hooves went... Clippity-clop, clippity-clop.
After a while...
Steady Neddy said, What are you going to sing for the competition then, Farmer Ed?
Horsey, horsey, said Farmer Ed.
Oh, that's my favourite, neighed Steady Neddy.
And his hooves went, Clippity-clop, clippity-clop.
Steady Neddy thought he'd love to perform in a singing competition too.
But he wasn't sure if cart horses were allowed to enter.
I know, said Farmer Ed.
As we go along, I'll sing my song.
He cleared his throat.
Horsy, horsey, don't you...
Well, I'll be, he said.
I've forgotten.
What comes next, Neddy?
Horsey, horsey, don't you stop, neighed Steady Neddy.
Oh, why, of course, you clever horse, said Farmer Ed.
And Steady Neddy's hooves went... Clippity-clop, clippity-clop.
As we go along, I'll sing my song, said Farmer Ed.
Horsey, horsey, don't you stop.
Just let your feet go... Clippity-clop, neighed Steady Neddy.
Why, of course, you clever horse, said Farmer Ed.
And Steady Neddy's hooves went...
Clippity-clop, clippity-clop.
As we go along, I'll sing my song, said Farmer Ed.
Horsey, horsey, don't you stop.
Just let your feet go clippity-clop.
Your tail go swish and your wheels go...
Nay, Steady Neddy, why, of course, you clever horse, said Farmer Ed.
And Steady Neddy's hooves went... Clippity-clop, clippity-clop.
As we go along, I'll sing my song, said Farmer Ed.
Horsey, horsey, don't you stop.
Just let your feet go clippity-clop.
Your tail go swish and your wheels go round.
Giddy-up, we're homeward bound.
Why, of course, you clever horse, said Farmer Ed.
And Steady Neddy's hooves went clippity clop, clippity clop.
Eventually, after much clippity clopping and singing, they arrived in town.
The competition was being held in a big hall with a stage.
Steady.
Neddy sat with his hooves crossed in the front row, as Farmer Ed stood in the centre of the stage ready to sing.
He looked a bit nervous.
The truth was, Farmer Ed was sure he was going to forget the words again.
Horsey, horsey, don't you?
Stop, joined in Steady Neddy.
Just let your feet go clippity-clop, sang Steady Neddy.
Your tail goes swish and your wheels go round.
Giddy-up, we're homeward bound, sang Steady Neddy.
Oh, well done, Neddy!
Everyone cheered loudly.
No one had ever seen a singing horse before.
And so Farmer Ed and Steady Neddy had won the competition.
But instead of bowing on stage to the audience, like Farmer Ed, Steady Neddy neighed loudly.
Neigh!
And his hooves did a dance.
That went... Clippity-clop, clippity-clop.
Our last song is Farmer Ed's song from the story.
I'm sure you can remember the words better than he did.
Join in and sing along with me.
Horsey, horsey, don't you stop.
Just let your feet go clippity-clop.
Your tail go swish and the wheels go round.
Giddy-up, we're homeward bound.
Steady Neddy, off you trot.
Just let your feet go clippity-clop.
Your tail go swish and the wheels go round.
Giddy up, we're off to town.
Whoa there, Neddy.
Horsey horsey, don't you stop.
Just let your feet go clippity-clop, Your tail goes swish and the wheels go round Giddy-up.
We're homeward bound Clippity-clop.
Maybe you'd like to draw your own picture of Steady Neddy after the programme.
I wonder what he'd look like.
Join me again soon when we can listen and play together.
Bye!
