So there's this mountain located in central Oregon that overlooks my hometown.
There it is right there.
And apparently people hike up and camp on top of this mountain.
This is our home for the night.
So after my cousins and I went on our week long road trip around Oregon.
Our final stop of the trip was Broken Top.
Oh my gosh, okay.
Today's the day.
After we drove into Ben yesterday, we just spent a night here to chill and kind of freshen up, because today is about to be big day, today's the day.
This is kind of like what everything has been leading up to, like the entire trip.
Like this is like kind of the finale.
Yeah, it's like the last thing we're doing on this trip.
We saved the best for last, because today we are not only hiking broken top, but we're spending the night on top of broken top.
We packed these giant, Freaking backpacks.
Why are these like bigger than us though?
How are we even going to carry them?
This is about to be like the craziest thing.
I think any of us has ever done before.
Anyways, let's go.
I'm so nervous.
Oh my God.
Going into this, I don't think we really knew what we were getting ourselves into.
I think that's it.
I really do.
Oh, no.
But after we drove down a really rough road.
Oh, my God.
And after we got all of our gear ready.
It was finally time to start the nearly five mile hike straight up a mountain.
This way does not look right.
We have to get up eventually, and that one goes up.
So i say probably that one.
We are currently trying to figure out which way we're going to get up to the top, but we're just going to follow the creek up, because there is supposed to be a lake up at the top, so i guess that makes sense.
Well, we're already taking a break.
We're not even to the top yet and that's already the view we're getting.
It's so pretty.
We really are out of shape.
We may or may not be on like I don't know, our 20th 30th, 50th break already hiking up and we're like only halfway right now.
We had no idea what we were getting.
We've never backpacked before.
Yeah, we've never backpacked before, yet our first backpacking experience is up a mountain.
Also, I better save my water.
We could only bring limited water up here because... We have to carry it.
Yeah, we have to carry everything, and water is like the thing that probably weighs the most out of everything, in all honesty.
Why do I feel like all this footage is just me getting attacked by bugs?
There's a bug.
Oh my god.
A big one.
Calm down, not think about all the bugs.
I really don't do well outdoors.
I don't think any of us do well outdoors.
But we're gonna keep hiking and hopefully this will be worth it.
Pretty steep.
The trail kept getting steeper and steeper the more and more we hiked.
Are going straight uphill right now.
But the steeper it got, the closer we were getting.
So we're almost there, guys.
So we kept hiking and hiking and hiking until eventually we finally made it to the top.
We did it!
Woo!
Well, this is the reality of hiking how many miles up to the top of a mountain?
You just collapse in the dirt.
So now that we made it to the top, we need to try to find a place to set up our tent for the night.
Down by like the little lake is where people normally set up their tents for the night and everything.
But the thing is we kind of want to have a view of like over the mountain.
This is perfect to set up our tent.
It looks like we're just gonna clear some rocks right here and set up the tent right here, because this is like a relatively flat surface.
So we set up the tent, only to realize that sleeping on the edge of a cliff isn't really the safest thing to do.
We're gonna blow off in the middle of the night i'm not even kidding like there's nothing to like stop us from really going down there.
Y'all imagine like on the news, like three teenage girls on broken top fly off the edge.
You're thinking, if we put a bunch of like super heavy rocks inside the tent, it will lower the possibility of us literally flying off in the middle of the night.
We kind of finished setting up our tent for the night.
We blew up our little like mattress thingy things and then we got our sleeping bags out.
It's getting cold for tonight, so we're putting on a bunch of layers and everything, because it gets down to like 30 at night time, I'm pretty sure, or even below 30, which is pretty bad to sleep in outside.
So we brought so many layers of clothes.
Thank you.
Like, not like, but.
Oh, we put it out.
We went too hard.
We are currently trying to light our fire and it's not going too good.
It won't light long enough.
That's so weird it's not lighting though.
We've had no problem lighting it really on the other nights.
And there's really not a lot of wind at all.
I know, I was gonna say.
Find anything?
Peyton's looking for twigs.
I just wanted to light the wood.
Hell yes!
Is there bears up here?
Yeah, there are bears.
Are you serious?
If we can climb this, a bear can fucking climb it.
But just like that, one of the best experiences of my life turned into the worst experience of my life.
We there.
We would have not been able to do this if it wasn't for Peyton Madison's parents.
They already had these backpacks because they have gone backpacking before.
I'm getting this shot from Peyton from behind and it literally just looks like it's a backpack, like moving on its own.
I'm trying to get a fire going, but it's not really going.
Mount Everest ain't got shit on me!
All the way down there.
I'm pretty sure is where I took this Instagram picture with Jared, and I took it of this mountain and I don't know why that's so tripping me right now, for some reason.
Feels like we're in Iceland or something.
Our bagels!
Got them.
They're all just stuck together because they melted today in the heat.
Yummy.
Is it bad?
No, it's cold.
Mine's perfect.
I know, why did yours like turn out so good compared to the other things?
Love that for us.
I never thought I'd be eating like a cold burrito on the top of a mountain.
This dumb ass marshmallow fell off my stick in all the dirt.
We are currently back inside the tent because we're afraid of bears attacking us.
We're communicating with our neighbors at the bottom of the mountain.
Good night.
See you tomorrow.
