Listen all around, listen for the sounds Listen, listen, listen Hello!
Hello!
Hello!
Hello!
Listen, everyone.
Listen and play.
Where are we today?
We're outside in the town.
It's very busy here.
There's lots of traffic.
It's time to listen all around.
There are lots of cars here in town and they're all stuck in a queue.
I wonder if you know the word for a queue of cars.
It has three sounds like this.
Listen.
Listen again.
Jam.
It's a traffic jam.
There are lots of cars here in town and there seems to be a huge traffic jam.
Some of the drivers are sounding their horns.
Listen.
This is the sound they make.
Listen again.
B-eep.
Beep.
Beep goes the car horn.
Oh, I can see the problem.
There's something which has broken down.
It's bigger than a car.
It's a red post office.
V-a-n.
V-a-n.
Listen again.
V-a-n.
Van.
It's a red post office van.
Yes.
The van has got a flat tyre and that's why there's a traffic jam here today.
Today's song is called We're Driving in Our Car.
Join in and make all the car sounds with me.
We're driving in our car.
We're driving in our car.
We're driving in our car.
We're stopping in a car.
We're stopping in a car.
The lights have turned to red.
We're driving in our car.
We're driving in our car.
The lights have changed to green.
We're driving in our car.
Listen listen, listen.
It's Rhyme Time.
Here's a rhyme about a rather strange noisy car.
Listen to all the different sounds it makes.
There was a car called Rapper Tapper.
When it drove along it went Rapper Tapper Broom.
When it honked its horn, it went, Rapper, tapper, beep.
When it stopped, it went, Rapper, tapper, screech.
But it always went, Rapper, tapper, tapper.
Listen, listen, listen in Storytime.
That car, Rapper Tapper, is in our story today.
It's about a boy called Sam and if you listen carefully, you'll hear what happens when Sam's gran collects him in Rapper Tapper to go on a special outing.
Shh!
Listen, listen.
The story's called Rapper Tapper.
Once upon an exciting time, there was a boy called Sam.
He was excited because his gran was coming to take him to the circus.
Sam could always tell if gran was coming in her car because it made a rappy, tappy engine noise.
That's why it was called Rapper Sam.
Then suddenly Sam heard Rapa Tapa brumming along the road with a... Rapa Tapa brum!
When Rapa Tapa arrived at his house, Sam waved and Rapa Tapa beeped its horn with a Rapa Tapa beep.
Sam loved Rapa Tapa.
It was a bit old and rusty, but it never let Gran down.
So off they brummed with a rap-a-tap-a-brim.
Sam was so excited.
But as they drove through town, they suddenly had to stop.
There was a traffic jam.
Up ahead they could see a huge white lorry and a red post office van had bumped into each other.
Now they were stuck right in the middle of the road.
Everyone was beeping their horns.
So Rapatapa joined in with a Rapatapa beep.
Just then they heard and along came a police car. and out stepped a police officer.
Gran wound down her window and said, Excuse me, officer, but will it be long?
Oh, ages I should think, madam, he said.
Now they would never get to the circus on time.
But Gran had other ideas.
Now, Sam, she said, Rapa Tapa has never let me down yet.
Did you know he used to be in a circus?
Sam shook his head.
Gran smiled.
Watch this!
Then, Rapa Tapa jumped up in the air with a... Rapa Tapa jumped!
Right over the houses and shops.
It landed in a narrow lane.
Then off it brummed again with a... Rapa-tapa!
Brum!
At the end of the lane, Sam could see a gate.
Watch out! yelled Sam.
But Rapa-tapa jumped again with a... Rapa-tapa jumped!
Right into a field.
Over the bumpy grass it bumped.
With a... Bump.
And headed straight towards some... Cows!
Watch out!
Yelled Sam.
So Rappatappa beeped its horn with a... Beep.
And they soon got out of the way.
Then Rappatappa splashed into a river with a... Rappatappa splash.
Hey, hey, this is great fun, yelled Sam.
What an amazing car it was.
Rappatappa swooshed along the river with a... Rappatappa swoosh.
Up ahead they could see a large waterfall.
Watch out! yelled Sam.
Rappatappa swooshed right up to it, then jumped again with a Rappatappa jump over the trees and back onto a road.
Then Rappatappa broomed off once more with a Rappatappa brim.
Soon Sam heard some music coming from the other side of the fence.
They'd finally arrived at the circus.
Rapa Tapa turned into another field and there, right in the middle, was a huge circus tent.
Rapa Tapa drove straight into the tent and screeched to a stop with a Rapa Tapa.
Screech!
And Sam and his gran and Rapa Tapa watched the circus and it was fantastic!
At the end, everyone clapped.
Even Rapa Tapa clapped with a... Rapa Tapa!
Our last song today is all about the different rapper-tapper sounds that Gran's car makes.
Join in our rapper-tapper rap.
Rapper-tapper, brrm, goes the car.
Rapper-tapper, brrm.
Rapper-tapper, brrm.
Rapper-tapper, beep.
Goes the horn.
Rapper, tapper, beep.
Rapper, tapper, beep.
Rapper, tapper, jump.
Go the wheels.
Rapper, tapper, jump.
Rapper, tapper, jump.
Rapper, tapper.
Rapper, tapper, beep.
Rapper, tapper, jump.
I hope you enjoyed listening and playing with me today.
Perhaps you'd like to try that song again later.
You could make up some actions to go with the rap-a-tap-a-rap.
Join me again soon when we can listen and play together.
Bye!
