The following podcast is a Dear Media production.
Hello, welcome to or welcome back to Trying Not to Care.
If you're a new listener, normally my episodes are solo.
Like, this is literally the first episode I'm having a guest on, but I think you're going to love it regardless, especially if you're someone who has really crazy dreams or you have reoccurring dreams or maybe you don't dream at all and you want to learn how to dream.
In today's episode, I am speaking with Natasha Bolvin aka Natasha Dreamseer.
I attended Natasha's dream interpretation session at the Innes Resort in New York when I stayed over with Being Frenchie and that's where we connected.
In today's episode, we talk all about the importance of dreams in our lives, understanding dreams and emotional processing, how to recall your dreams and so much more.
I even asked her to interpret some of your dreams that you sent in so I hope you love this episode you can find my instagram my tiktok if it's still kicking I don't know it's not looking good and my youtube in the show notes as well as all of Natasha's social media but with that being said let's get
into today's episode hello Natasha welcome to trying not to care I'm so excited to have you I'm so excited to be here I don't know if I told you this when we met at the innist resort for being Frenchie but you're the first guest pretty much like officially for Trinidad's Care and for the year but I
was very hesitant to like have guests on I was like really nervous about it because for me I gravitate more towards podcasts with just the host not really guests but also more so like I was nervous that I wasn't going to be like a good interviewer people weren't going to like it but then when I listened
to you speak at Innes like halfway through hearing you speak I was like wait like we're so aligned like this is gonna be so easy so cake and by the end of it I think you spoke for like over an hour I was like I want more like I'm so interested in this and if I want more I know my listeners are gonna love
what you have to say and just like learn so much so I'm so excited to have you and you know and so first of all I'm honored um to be the first and especially at the beginning of the new year so I'm really excited about this so thank you yeah that was a great opportunity opportunity, you know, to actually be
able to speak to so many people and bring the world of we all dream.
We just don't all remember them.
And so to be able to really have a platform to amplify really how important this is.
And I'm so glad that you tuned in.
And I think where we actually connected was, you know, your Pisces moon.
And then I was like, oh, I've got a Pisces, you know you were giving me your your um natal and then i was like oh and my i've got a pisces midheaven right my midheaven is in pisces and it was like no wonder we're connected on dreams and things like that and so um and then you were really tuned into
you know the conversation and had shared actually that uh you know you've had some really kind of dynamic dreams and so do you dream a lot?
I mean, I've always had really, really vivid dreams.
But I've had really a really hard time sleeping.
I'm like the opposite of relax when it comes to sleeping.
My entire life, I've had sleep paralysis, night terrors, insomnia, I would see like shadow people when I was younger.
And I'd always have such a hard time falling asleep.
But as someone who has such a hard time falling asleep.
Once I am asleep, I have so many dreams.
They're so vivid. I dream every single night.
And I think for me, I'm just so interested in the dream world because I spend so much of my time in it.
So it's like, if I'm spending so much time dreaming almost as much as I am like living in reality, it must mean something.
So I think that's why I was so interested in your dream interpretation session?
A lot of people don't realize that like 30 % of our time is actually spent in the dream state or in the sleep state.
And a portion of that obviously is spent in the dreaming state, which is called REM, R -E -M, Rapid Eye Movement.
And that is a crucial part of actually our health to be able to have that dreaming.
So people actually need to dream for their health.
Dream recall is a little bit different, because that's just remembering your dreams and writing them down and things like that.
But I've said to people, you know, we're living sort of another kind of world, right?
And it's, you know, it's imaginary, and it's exciting.
And what is our psyche telling us through all of these things?
And we know that throughout history, you know, whether across religions and across the ancients and royalty, people tapped into their dreams.
They actually had dream seers and dream interpreters on hand to be able to give them, you know, advice and to actually be able to work with their dreams.
So it is something that has been utilized since time, really.
And so many inventions have actually happened because of our dreams.
And we know this. This is a fact.
Even Google was actually conjured through a dream by Larry Page.
So it is something that factually, we know that it works and that it's something.
And so why not? So I'm thrilled that you've tuned into yours or excited to tune into yours.
I'm so excited. I'm so excited to learn more.
But before I ask you questions, I have so many questions I would love to learn more about who you are what you do how you got into it and just like anything that you feel called to share about yourself yeah and so I mean my background is like you know I was in marketing and uh sales and marketing my
whole life and it wasn't you know so if I go back back it's really within my family my parents were avid my mom's like the person that we always kind of thought like put her in her own little box because she'd come out with oh my god I just saw that last week and we'd kind of be like yeah yeah but you
know and she was like the crazy person out like yonder like mom come back um but it also helped to cultivate conversations at home and I think this is so crucial especially for people that are becoming parents and have children young children is to be able to cultivate the conversation and especially
with what your podcast and is all about I think it's so important it's what are they seeing inside of that and how is that being reflected and how can we allow people to process their emotions which is what our dream space actually does it's it's actually a key component of mental cognition and emotional
processing but you know unbeknownst to us we just would have these conversations so on the weekends kind of slumbering out would talk to my dad I would talk to my mom or my mom would be like I have this dream or my dad would be like I had this dream and we would sit there and have the conversation actually
unpack it you know what we thought it could mean and I think it also has to do with some cultures are just more um predisposed to having those conversations um I come from an Indo -Caribbean culture and so it would be like oh if somebody passed for example or transitioned be like oh did you see so and so in your
dream did they come visit you that's a normal conversation actually right to see relatives from the other side or things like that um you know and so it was actually my father who I was like 12 I think and I came out running into the living room it's like Sunday morning and I still remember it so clearly
because that night I woke, I saw myself sleeping.
And so I had this sort of out -of -body experience, but I woke up on the other end of the bed.
And so I was like, dad, I slept.
I, you know, I slept with my eyes open.
And he's like, I think you had an out -of -body experience, but he normalized it for me.
And so I was like, oh, okay.

as a thing but I was always an intense dreamer but really it happened for me in 2003 which is when I had my my spiritual awakening but I started to have these epic dreams.
They were just like, so vivid and colorful and very lucid.
And I was traveling and it, I think it just, at that point was where it just summoned up in me.
And so I started to do the thing that everybody does, which is dream dictionaries.
And, um, then at work I would go in and be sharing my dreams with other people.
And and then they start, I started becoming the, the dream interpreter by default.
People would come to me and be like, so Natasha, I had this dream last night, you know, and that has carried on with me for the last 20 years because, um, you know, even in my recent career, um, which I just resigned from and I'm now, you know, doing this full time, I was always known for that.
I'd be coming in and be like, oh guys, I had this dream last night and they'd be, you know, sitting there wide -eyed and really kind of impacted by how I was able to understand the dream.
And then again, everybody's coming to me now going, Natasha, this dream, what do you think it means?
And so there's the saying that is, you know, people kind of tell you who you are and sort of, they reflect back to you.
So enough people saying it.
And it was like, I sat there one day and it was, I know it sounds so cliche, but it was through a series of dreams.
But I had this dream where one of my friends who is a spiritual mentor, she showed up in this white dress, but there were like a ton of moons, you know?
And so I was like, and I was really kind of like, and it was showing me different windows of different things of the past.
And so all of a sudden I was like, what is the one thing that i love talking about and that i can talk about endlessly and it was like i never get sick of dreams i know so much about them and then it was realizing that i had already written down over five uh 300 and at that point 300 and some odd of my
own dreams that i've been recording just on my own and i was like wait a second there's something here was it your spiritual awakening that made you realize like dreams are meaningful and they can help us or was it through conversations with your family or was there like a dream earlier on in your life
where you're like whoa this is way more than just a dream that's a great question I would actually say you know it really came alive for me in 2003 where I really tapped into the dreams as messages dreams as guidance and that was definitely super alive for me because it was happening so frequently growing
up i had things that were wild that i can still remember um a precognitive dream that i had when i was 16 years old with a boyfriend who was traveling to germany and was gone for six weeks and i had a very vivid dream about this leather bag with white you know large stitching on the outside.
That time there weren't really cell phones, um, around.
And so he comes back and gives me like, hands me this brown leather satchel with stitching on the outside.
It wasn't exactly the same bag, but like a leather bag with large stitching on the outside.
And then my gift was on the inside of that.
And I was just like, how did that happen?
Um, and there were other things along the way that happened, you know, with various dreams that I had.
So I knew that it was a thing, but I didn't, I thought it was really just normal.
Like everybody was having it when I was growing up because I was in a family that had an ongoing dialogue about it.
Which I think is incredible because I feel like you don't really hear that often that, like you said, it's definitely like by culture, but you don't really hear people having those conversations.
I think when you are open about your dream world and more spiritual things.
Some people kind of want to be like, it's woo woo.
And it's not, you know, it's not real.
I mean, like I said, I, I grew up having sleep paralysis and really vivid dreams and seeing shadow people.
And my parents just kind of wrote it off with like, you're okay.
Like it was just a bad dream or it was this.
So it's really amazing to hear that you had that dialogue.
And it was so open.
And now you're able to pursue this thing that you're, you know, you're meant to do.
It's your purpose. I don't know that a lot of people are having that dialogue, just like what you said.
Um, I did, my parents actually didn't even really, it wasn't something that was conscious, right?
It was just kind of like, we're talking about it.
Um, but when I, you know, now that I've studied all of this, um, going back into ancestral lineages.
Every single culture in terms of their racial ancestry and their heritage comes from a lineage that actually engaged in dream sharing.
And so Indigenous cultures, whether it is African, whether it is Middle Eastern, whether it Europeans of varying orientations everybody when you trace it back those indigenous practices that were inherent all have dream sharing and so we actually are all descendants on some level of people that actually
engaged in dream sharing celtics it doesn't matter what across what thing so it was actually something that i think is actually in our you know cellular makeup to actually do it's just that over time, you know, and I can go on and on about this, but it's been dampened.
I feel like our magic has been kind of dampened, you know, and taken away from us.
And when we moved into the era of rationalism and logic and all of these things, then dreams got pushed to the side and we didn't realize the power, but there's definitely a Renaissance happening out there.
Yeah. I think, like I was saying, anytime you speak openly about spirituality or, you know, dreams, there's those people that are like, it's not grounded in reality.
But I think that these conversations are so important.
That's why I'm just so excited to have you here.
And I would just love to learn more about how dreams can tell us about ourselves and our emotional state, like how we can use our dreams to help us in our everyday lives?
And I think the first thing first is, you know, actually developing a relationship, right?
And, you know, to the dream space, because a lot of us, like, you know, when I think about it, right, and even myself, you know, at times where the alarm goes off, you know, it's like, you get up, you rush, you're in the, you're doing your you're off to work you're getting your coffee you're going into
the office you've created no space whatsoever to dream tend right and dream tending is first things first is training ourselves to actually document them and so a lot of people will say to me in a crowd i never dream i never dream that's not true everybody dreams we just don't remember them so we know
that that is is true some people are stronger dreamers than others but everyone has the ability to cultivate that as a practice and the minute you tune into it the funny thing is it starts to kick up real quick and so we have to actually take note of them um i have a couple ways you know it just depends
on how sleepy i am in the morning so definitely keeping a pad or pen close by within arm's reach so that you can write down as much as you can or a voice voice note cultivating that relationship even creating a space in your bedroom where you just feel really good in your bedroom you know I feel like
everything is a reflection and so having those things around you I love essential oil so I'm always sleeping with lavender and cultivating that, I think that's the first thing.
Once you start doing that, it's being open.
And this is the key is, and I just, I feel like it's a lesson for life, to be honest, which is approach things with curiosity versus trying to prove something.
And I think that's where, where people go, Oh, it's all woo woo.
Well, you know, or that doesn't really mean anything because it's not real.
Well, how, you know, sure it, but it happened in my dream.
Like it, you know, we read fairy tales and stories that give us so much meaning wizard of Oz and start, you know, all of these things because they help us to understand more in life and navigate more in life.
so I think it's also taking away the judgment aspect of it you know or or trying to have everything you know prove it well if I felt like I traveled through lifetimes in my dream well in my dream I traveled through lifetimes you know in my dream it happened I don't care like yes in this physical reality
it did not happen but in my dream it did so they didn't happen there um and I think it's removing that level of judgment number one so that you can approach it with a sense of curiosity because what happens too is now we get these because dreams don't you know it's not always this beautiful story right
it can be scary now we have these weird elements or sometimes in some cases it can feel kind of perverse or bizarre and then we wake up and we're like holy shit like what just happened?
Like, oh my God, oh my God, oh my God.
And then you're freaked out.
And then now you're going into your day feeling like, oh shit.
And then there's a sort of disassociation that happens because now I don't want anything bad to happen.
What does this mean?
I don't want any bad juju following me throughout the whole day.
So we've got to kind of approach this from a level of curiosity and a lens of neutrality.
Be neutral. Dreams are here to help us.

Because like you were saying, there's so much going on in the dreams.
And I feel like dreams can be so chaotic and messy and not make sense.
Like I'll be explaining my dream to someone or I'll be writing it down.
And I'm like, this happened and this happened.
And then this person turned into this person.
And it just, it doesn't make sense.
There's a million things that just don't seem cohesive.
How can we look at our dream and be like okay this did make sense or this is just something that I was watching in a tv show and now it's here like I play uno before bed and like I'm dreaming about uno how can we like make that differentiation between like what matters and what doesn't and so you know
the thing is especially when you have a chaotic dream like I had a chaotic dream it was like I'm like how do I even document this like i just like it was so like oh my god where do i even start and sometimes i don't number one i don't aim to try to make sense of every single dream um number one but i
also pick out elements okay okay and so i think and that's where i say approach it from curiosity and neutrality versus overwhelm focus on the elements that stood out the most okay okay and so look for what was amplified in the dream and so this part was really amplified this thing was amplified this thing
was amplified and maybe perhaps just zero in so this is where dream work can is really exciting for me because what i'll often do is tell people so we'll we'll look at it we'll go into a dream and i'll say zoom out and look at the whole thing and now zoom in to what is calling you to actually pay attention to
it. So maybe it's just focusing on an element.
Okay. Some dreams, maybe you only remember four things anyways.
Perfect. That's easy.
And what you can do is automatically just kind of sit with it.
I think before we start, you know, looking things up, once you've kind of written it down, okay, I saw, you know, a puppy and the puppy looked, you know, a little bit like it needed, you know, it looked a little bit sick and sad and sleepy and I was holding it.
I'm actually sharing a dream that I had the other night and it was a golden retriever puppy.
And it was like, I was like holding it, you know, in this nurturing and nourishing way.
And the next scene, like all of a sudden I see this, you know, full grown golden retriever like galloping.
Right. And I'm like, okay, I didn't see the lifespan of the golden retriever, but I saw it as a puppy that It needed nourishing.
And I just reflected on myself actually, of what was, you know, in a place, for example, when I was, you know, making the transition from away from my career, I was feeling pretty vulnerable, like, oh my gosh, I'm now putting myself out there in the world.
And, you know, I'm feeling a little bit, you know, scared and frightened and I need to feel held to suddenly the dream is showing me, which is how I actually feel right now is galloping.
I'm strong. I've got this, you know, type of thing.
So taking those elements and looking at it first, using your intuition and felt sense, what could this mean for me?
Right. It's like, for example, if somebody is dreams of a church, well, a church could be like, Hey, a spiritual, you know, This is time for me to connect to my spirituality or have a relationship with God.
For another person, it could be traumatic, right?
So that's where you kind of dictionaries and things like that may not always work for everybody because that person may, they might have an association with a church where it was a lot of trauma for them.
So you always want to look at those elements and go, how do I feel about this?
What does this mean for me?
so it's like more so about how you resonate with the dream rather than the dream itself you would say absolutely because you're the owner of the dream right and sometimes what happens is we see this whole you know we get up and we're like holy crap like all the stuff it was so vivid and oh my god and then
we kind of separate ourselves from it right it's like we just and it's also a little bit of work to be honest you know you're gonna sit with this thing right and people don't want to carve out time so it's carving out time to actually just sit with it for a second and go and I think just asking yourself
some key questions which is what could this be reflecting to me right now what could this be revealing to me or what do I need reassurance about and and i those are my three r's and even just beginning there will be you'll be able to have a dialogue with it i remember you saying when we were doing the dream
interpretation session that there was like a way of how to like journal prop of like like dr e am s yes could you go over that for anyone that wants to learn how to recall our dreams because obviously recalling dreams is difficult like as much as I dream I really only remember them immediately if I
get woken up out of a dream or if it's like the last dream before I wake up and I recall it immediately so could you go over that or like ways to be able to remember our dreams especially for people who claim that they have no dreams and can't remember anything so I had um actually this is now two years
ago where i did i was at a retreat and i spoke about you know people who say that they never remember their dreams and i was like you do dream but you just don't remember them this guy was like mind blown and he literally was like he reached out to me afterwards and he said to me you know i want to
like at least remember a dream so that i know that i'm capable of it And so we actually, with him in particular, it was actually creating an intention.
So going to sleep that tonight, you know, um, creating the tension that I will dream, I will remember my dreams.
Um, and even writing it down and just kind of looking at it and visualizing that phrase that I'm going to remember my dreams, even five minutes, or as you're drifting will imprint it on your subconscious mind.
So you're giving instruction to yourself.
Okay. So you've actually got to prompt yourself like chat GBT.
Um, and then, you know, I had him actually listened to some binaural beats.
And so I'm like, hop on Spotify and get some, you know, listen to like a five minute binaural beats for dreaming because different frequencies, um, help to do that for us.
And so I'm a huge fan of that.
and he was, he sent me a message and, you know, I got the recording, he was like, oh my God, I actually dreamed.
And it wasn't this massive, like beautiful, fantastical dream, but it was the fact that he actually remembered some elements.
A year later, he messages me and he's in Costa Rica reading a book by, you know, a neuroscientist all on dreaming.
So he's fully dialed in now, right?
Because he was capable and he was interested in it.
We have to be A, interested and willing to do it, number one.
But once you make the decision, you know, there's a saying, when the decision, once you make the decision, the doing becomes clear, you've already invited it in.
Now with, so I use dreams as an acronym, I know, so creative of me, but it's just the easiest way to remember.
And I think the important, you know, that's why I say that the approach or the decision of, you know, going, Hey, I'm going to approach this from a lens of neutrality, be neutral, detach.
So, you know, judging good or bad.
I was on vacation with my best friend actually in Barbados and she wakes up one morning and she comes out.
She's like, Oh my God, I have this hafed up dream.
And she's all like disturbed about it.
And I was like, hang on call let's let's chill out for a second well it could be dreamful sometimes like you have dreams and you're like i don't want to tell anyone about this like this is and sometimes but a lot of times for people it's not something that's even there's dreams i don't want to tell
anybody because it's just so bizarro and it's just so like weird that i'm like nah we'll we'll keep this one over here but sometimes it's not that kind of a dream it is a dream that they could you know, be able to look at in a different lens.
I had somebody who it's because she's so used to had a lot of childhood trauma that she worked through.
She just assumed, you know, she was in a plane crash that this was a negative dream.
We did a dream work session and it wasn't.
It was exactly the opposite thing, right?
Where it ended up being where she was actually in this sort of new place.
She kind of went up to the pilot's booth and was actually navigating.
She forgot about that and really focus was focused in on this.
So approaching it with a sense of doom, I think is a let's just not do that.
It's a dream, you're going to wake up, you'll be fine.
You know, so a make sure that you write the detail, have a pen, have a pad in arms reach, because the minute you start shifting your position, movement shifts energy.
Okay. And that's why, you know, we dance and things like that, or, you know, a way to move energy through somatic healing, or we get up, you know, uh, we got to go to the bathroom or our partners, you know, wakes us up.
The key is when you go back to sleep, A, if you can just jot some things down during that phase, when you just woke up or go to the bathroom, like I've actually said to people, have a notepad in the bathroom, even, you know, and just write as much as you can down.
Why not? Might as well.
Might as well. And then when you come back and try to go back into the same position oh okay okay and the same position there's some sort something with memory that actually happens and on a very popular podcast Dr.
Andrew Huberman even mentioned it Rick Rubin great creative artist also talks about going back into that it's a technique it works and it'll help you kind of go back into that state again and extend the dream so either way write as much as you can just write as much as you can doesn't have to be neat and tidy
just write it down scratched up on that paper because you can always come back to it once you have it down and you do that enough times you're training yourself for dream recall and then you're going to find that your dreaming life will actually become more colorful because you've invited it in so that's
the thing detail detach stay neutral the r is for those questions so dreams are either reflecting revealing or reassuring you of something.
The other thing you should look for in dreams is repetition.
And this is something that is, um, a again, among dream workers, we know this, it's like your subconscious is trying to get a message out to you, right?
Somehow. And the way that it's going to do that is going to, it might repeat elements.
So for example, if you happen, I did a, um, on another podcast, someone shared dreams and all of the elements were men.
So it was like the dad, the brother, the, you know, the driver, they were all masculine.
So I knew on some level that this had a masculine slant to it.
There was something in there that was on the masculine end of her, you know, that had to be worked out.
So that's kind of easy, Right?
So look for those repeating elements, because that'll give you an angle to jump off from.
Is that why we have reoccurring dreams?
Or is that completely different than that?
There's a couple distinctions.
Sometimes we'll have things where we're taken back to maybe a childhood home, or we're taken back to a classroom or a place that we used to work at.
And that might serve as the backdrop that our dream kind of takes us back to.
childhood homes are really quite common.
And so it'll take us back to that point in time somewhere that gives us a particular feeling.
Sometimes it's a place of trauma.
Sometimes it's a place of comfort.
So it'll take you there.
That's not necessarily a recurring dream.
That's a recurring element.
A recurring dream means that the exact same thing is happening where it's like you're just on this perpetual kind of wheel.
It's the same thing.
Those are when you have, so for example, a recurring dream that is, you know, it's quite often you've had three or four of them within a short span of time, within a matter of weeks, that is definitely something that's trying to get your attention, right?
It's like knocking on the door and it's like, you know, answer me.
It is a message for sure or something for you to look at because whatever is going on in your life, there's something that is on your mind that you might be ruminating a lot about.
There might be a lot of stress that you're stressing out a lot and it's showing you over and over again that this is pay attention to this.
The minute that you pay attention to it and you actually realize it and kind of tune into what's going on and perhaps take action on it, that reoccurring dream doesn't happen anymore.
It actually kind of doesn't come back.
So that was, we went through DRE, are we on A?
So A, I use this. So the word is amplification.
And for anybody that is a fan of, you know, Carl Jung, famous psychoanalytic, you know, he uses it in a much more complex way for me, the way that I use it.
So this is the Natasha dreams here way, which is look for the elements that stand out.
It's like, shoom this, you know, cause you might have a billion different things that are going on in that dream, but what really stood out in that dream or call like in the dream, you really noticed, like, for example, you know, I saw this beautiful garden, you know, But I noticed that the leaves,
like they were really dry and the, you know, there was, they looked like frayed and dried, you know, that's something to kind of go, okay, that really was amplified for me.
Because that will give you the context, right?
So plants and trees, yes, flourish, revitalization, new life, new growth.
But then you notice that they're kind of dry and they need tending to, right?
Right. So it's kind of like I want to grow and things like that, but there's some sort of contraction.
What could that be in my life or where am I, where am I stagnant?
Right. Things like that.
I remember you, I don't know if I'm jumping ahead of this, but I remember also you saying that there's like symbolism in dreams of like, I remember like pirates being one and like airplanes.
Yes. Is that something that goes along with like amplification of like zooming in on like that one feature of the dream?
Absolutely. And, you know, and I also for a also say animals and animals are very symbolic, because everyone's had an animal in their dream, everyone has it.
And I find them easy, because they're, they will show up as characteristics.
And so animals could be a symbolism and a metaphor based on their their uniqueness.
Like birds, you know, we know are about flight and seeing from an elevated, a bird's eye view, for example.
But we'll move to the next letter, which is metaphors.
So that is a perfect thing.
So for example, yeah, good job.
Water, right? What does water, you know, when people think of water, what do we think of?
flow emotions maybe hydration right whatever it might be but what needs crunching our lives right now like I don't know but typically we know that it has to do with flow and we know that it has to do with emotions um what was the other one pirates and so a good exercise a lot of times is to understand the difference
between a burglar for if somebody says a burglar in their dream versus a pirate in their dream, right?
Or a hijacker, you know, they see a hijacking scene in their dream, right?
Pirates are associated with water.
So we know that there's, and all of those things, for example, a pirate, a hijacker, a burglar, they're all intruders.
So we know that there's some sort of intrusion that is happening.
Number one, pirate is really associated with boats and water.
so we can think about this in terms of an emotional state of you know where's that intrusion happening perhaps in a plane we know that often planes can really signify ascension or like achievement let's say somebody is at a certain stage in their life or they're going for that next job and they're moving
to a higher status and position and then they feel like you know and then they see a hijacking scene and it's kind of like you know maybe that's that hijacking scene could be an element of self -sabotage or somebody else is vying for the position and getting in the way, um, or stealing.
Yeah. So it can actually be several different things.
A burglar in your home could be way more, um, personal and deeper because houses are generally signify ourself.
So we are the house and it really depends.
Do we see the scene?
Kitchens can be associated with sustenance and nourishment.
Bathrooms, like toilets, for example, what needs to get expelled?
What needs to get flushed out?
What do we need to get rid of?
What toxic behavior?
Showers and things like that are cleansing and renewal.
So you can kind of look at that.
So you kind of put those elements together.
So you see the symbology of things that make sense, actually, that we know of, right?
Shoes. What could shoes be?
Shoes could be about mobility, you know, where you're walking to or maybe standing tall in your boots or whatever it might be.
Does teeth have like symbolism?
Because I feel like a lot of people have dreams of like teeth crumbling, teeth falling out.
I feel like that's a common one.
That is a very common one.
So it is considered, so teeth and snakes are the number one, um, snakes internationally are the number one, but snake, but teeth are, um, I think they're the number one, uh, common dream symbol.
And so when we think of teeth, right, it's like, we're kind of, when we're happy, we're smiling, right?
When we see teeth and, or it depends on what the teeth are doing.
So if we're, you know, got that Colgate smile going on and ding, like life, you're probably putting your best foot forward.
You're in a place where you are really confident.
If you see your teeth kind of chattering, what am I nervous about?
What am I scared about?
Crumbling, things that are kind of falling apart.
Um, somebody could be at a place where, you know, they're really worried about how, how things are looking or being and, or, and they've got some anxiety about the kind of world falling apart, teeth falling out.
Um, and oftentimes, so with teeth, usually it's people get it a lot when they are, um, trying to make a good impression, you know, getting, interviewing for a job, for example, might be one, or you're really scared about something, you've got this sort of chatter and crumbling teeth, but it really has to
do with how you are looking out to the world.
Some people will say, but it also, there's cultural references too.
So for example, you know, in China, you know, or Chinese culture or Asian culture, I don't know, but Chinese specifically, teeth falling out means deceit.
Someone is deceitful around you in Caribbean cultures.
And even a friend of mine that's Portuguese, she said the same thing, um, is, you know, something bad, right?
So it's, they've got these different things, but Western culture, it's usually associated with an anxious feeling towards how you're going to look and how you're going to appear and that sort of thing.
Okay. Yeah. I feel like that's a very, very common dream and I've even had it.
So it's interesting to hear?
And then S? So this is where it can be symbols and sequences, right?
So when we look at, for example, what is this symbolic of?
And I've said things like, you know, I had a dream.
The only thing that I remembered was a carrot and I had taken a big bite and there was a bite out of the carrot.
And so one thing, that's all I saw, but I got it because I was going through a period where I didn't have clarity and then suddenly I came into clarity?
Well, carrots are associated with sight.
So you can kind of look at symbol, symbolism that way as well.
And that kind of ties into metaphors.
But what I really actually use the S for is sequence.
And so when you're, you know, you get up in the morning, you're writing up down all of these different, you know, things that you've seen in your dream, don't worry about it when you can come back to it, then put it in the sequence in the order in which it appeared to you.
Because then you can kind of isolate certain elements.
So if you isolate the element at the top, you'll start to think all of a sudden, your memory will kick back in and actually put some of the other elements surrounding that particular scene.
But also by putting them in sequence, you're getting kind of the story in the context.
And so it'll really help you need out and flesh out the message, the meaning whatever it might be for you do you think a good thing to do also for someone like let's say that someone has a dream of a carrot and they're like why am I dreaming of this carrot for them to like maybe google what a carrot
could symbolize and then see if that resonates for them absolutely you know in the dream worker world um there's a lot of pushback right now with people using dream dictionaries and Googling everything.
Because if you Google something right now, you know, even money, for example, I did that the other day and there were so many different messages and meaning and it was like, oh my gosh, like, no, but no, this is going to confuse somebody.
But I do, I like what you said, because you have to remember you are the dreamer.
You're the owner of that dream.
Allow your own, like I have a physical reaction to when things make sense for me or they don't right like my body just kind of goes yeah that feels right yeah and so you can use that you know use that and um so online is great and we're also seeing a you know plethora of apps and things like that out
there i've actually created my own gbt which i'm going to be making available soon so that people can so that it can kind of right be in their actual chat GBD profile, they go to dream seer, and then they can input their, their dream.
And I've trained it, I've been training it for the last year and a half.
So there are tools out there.
But again, trusting your own gut, like the one thing that we don't want is somebody else imposing what they think is your dream.
I remember when we were listening to your session at the end of it, you had us kind of break off in groups and talk about reoccurring dreams that we had.
And then we also did an exercise where we like walked into a room in our in our mind and then talk about what we saw in that room and i remember one of the girls that i was talking to was expressing this dream that she had and she was like i don't understand it and we all just like kind of gave our
interpretations of it and then she was like oh like yes like kind of was able to go off of that like yes this makes sense i resonate with that so it wasn't so much of us imposing of like this is what it means, but it was her being able to connect and be like, yes, like I resonate with that.
And that helps me a lot.
Yeah. I'm glad you brought that up.
Um, so visualization and what we call active imagination, I call it, um, you know, and there's another term embodied imagination.
So it's a type of visualization and we go into that, you know, and anyone can do that really right with your friends or whoever.
And, um, you know, you open the door and on the other side, what do you see?
And your brain kind of allows you to, to have that moment.
But when you're sharing in a group, again, it's that ability for other people to share, but there's a way of sharing that I think is really, um, respectful and it's in accordance to the standards of the international association for the study of dreams, which is, and it was created by a Gentlemen, Montague
Elman, I think it is, which is a phrase that I think really, really lands really well, which is, if this were my dream, I would, if this were my dream, I might say that that could, you know, this or if this were mine, I don't know, I think it could be like, and that way, the dreamer retains ownership,
and they have kind of a sovereignty over their own dream.
And then they get to kind of pick from the group.
And it's like, that makes sense.
That's really cool.
And so I love dream circles for that reason.
And it's really powerful because it can add a little bit more color to the dream and dream sharing was something that our ancestors did.
So I think bringing that back and having that within our friend groups is a really cool thing I wanted to kind of end the episode with sharing some of my listeners dreams with you because I asked on Instagram if they had any dreams that they wanted interpreted I just picked some that I felt like were easy
ones that you wouldn't have to have them here yeah um the first one was one that I was kind of I was going to ask you about anyways because I have this dream a lot.
And I feel like a lot of people do where I'm in college and halfway through the semester, I realized that there's a class that I signed up for and I just didn't go to it throughout the entire semester.
Like I'm like, oh my God, I forgot about this class.
So it's kind of like that.
This one person asked, I keep dreaming.
I'm in high school and I'm about to not graduate on time.
And all my teachers are telling me how bad i messed up whether or not that person is in high school high school is an interesting like i don't so this is where it would matter if they were you know they were actually um in high school and they're processing that because that's just a fear that they're
having that they're not going to do well or that they haven't been doing what they should be doing as an ie homework and things like that and being neglectful um of the obligation and therefore they're seeing that response from the teacher.
The other thing too is if the person is grown up and they're not in high school anymore, high school takes us back to a place where we feel the most insecurity, right?
And so, you know, and then they didn't remember to do the things that they were supposed to do.
And so there is some anxiety that's actually kind of riddled in there, but oftentimes I think just based on, let's say they were a high school student or they, and, and what was the latter part of the dream?
They were, um, they're like, their teachers are just telling them how bad they messed up.
And I was also saying that like seems connected to like the dream that I have and other people have of like forgetting a class and like not, you know, graduating because of that.
Yeah. And it's, it, and it's often, I mean, to me, that's just a fear that you're not going to do well, you know, and ultimately, or it could be associated to a guilt of not doing the homework, the assignments and the things that you need to do in order to do well.
Okay. Yeah. I was going to say, I feel like it just all goes back to like just having anxiety about one thing or another in your life.
I mean, dreams really do point to anxiety a lot, right?
Because we remember those ones, right?
And so, you know, a lot of the times when people are going through stuff and processing a lot of things, it shows up in our dreams.
The next one is I dream everything's blurry.
And when I try to put my contacts in, they're huge and don't fit.
You know, this one's easy because ultimately, you know, vision, right?
Their vision is impacted.
They're not able to see clearly, right?
And then when they're trying to see clearly, they can't because their contacts are so big, they can't get them in their eyes.
Right. And it's like something that might be, you know, they could be working through a problem or a situation that they just can't seem to see clearly on.
They could be ruminating big time on it and just like, I don't get what this means.
I don't know what's going on or feeling like things are being, you know, withheld from them, but it has to do with them.
Not see. It has to do with clarity.
Okay yeah I can definitely see that yeah I often dream I'm swimming in the sea but there's big cars in the sea as well they're like parked in the water and so sea is very expansive it's very huge right and so in you know versus hey I jumped of a river I jumped of a waterfall so a it's water oriented
we know that but it's a sea and seas are very you know like I said expansive, there might be something that this person wants to do or they want to achieve, or they have big goals for themselves because cars are navigation and control, but their cars are big and they're parked.
So I feel like this person has big ambitions that may not be moving just yet, but they've got these big visions.
They probably, you know, it's like, I've got these big ideas, but I just don't know how to get traction on them.
Do you think the cars also could be like obstacles?
If they are trying definitely be obstacles, you know, I want to go in a direction because it's like, why was it a car?
Well, car is something that we use for mobility to get us from point A to point B, but they're all parked there.
And so like, there's a lot of things I want to, I want to move on, but I can't.
And so what is that obstacle, you know?
And so it possibly could be.
But we'd also want to take a look at the other elements.
This one is I have frequent dreams I get pregnant that I miscarry.
So when we think of being pregnant, right?
What are we thinking of?
We're pregnant with ideas, pregnant with possibility.
You know, there's a something is about to be birthed.
But we've miscarried.
So yeah, so there's a sense of loss.
Right? Now, does that mean that this person is going through this in life where they were about to birth something and, you know, or bring something into life and then, you know, there was a failure that happened or they're projecting their own sense of failure, their fear of failure on the situation.
So they could be at a place where they're bringing a new idea, a new project, birthing something new.
Maybe it is a pregnancy, but usually it's not.
um so I would be inclined to say that this is a scenario where because I think it's pretty obvious what this one is um bringing something forward and it not working out wow I love that no I don't love that for them no yes the interpretation of that because I can definitely see that and then I'm gonna do
two more because there was one about teeth crumbling but I feel like we about that i have a reoccurring dream where i need to use the bathroom and i keep entering public restrooms and they're huge never -ending mazes of stalls but they have something wrong like a missing door feces in the toilet no toilet
just a drain etc i'm always panicked in the dream that everyone can see me and i will have to expose myself so they basically told you what the dream is um at the end there because so i actually dream of toilets a lot and dreams of toilets is actually a common dream or filthy stalls um and things like
that and so when we think about a bathroom right we these are things that we're letting go we're trying to get rid of um it's you know when we see like feces for example it's kind of like the ickiest part of us it could actually even represents and that we're shameful about um that we might be holding
on to that we need to let go of right and then so you know the fact they're trying to like there there's these rows of stalls right and they're trying to find privacy to go to the bathroom but they can't find privacy to go to the bathroom and then at the end they actually share like you know i feel
like i felt like i was you know something about exposure yeah that's exactly what the dream is actually about right and And at the end of the day, it's like, you know, so that represents, you know, seeing those, you know, excrement and things like that.
It's like exposing the parts of us that are the most shameful, the things that we don't want anyone to see.
And then just feeling like I've got nowhere to be because I don't want the world to see me this way.
So it's a fear of being seen, a fear of being exposed, holding on to things that you need to let go of, but not being able to let go of them.
And then the last one, I'm, I had a few people ask me this and it's just dreams of being chased.
Yeah. And so, I mean, chasing dreams are, are very, very common.
Right. And definitely the thing is if somebody's chasing you, right there, this could be a sense of threat that you feel in your life, right.
That you've got to run away from.
Um, and for some people that could be, um, it's definitely an anxious dream that people have when they feel like they're being chased and they've got to run away from something.
So it's usually something that is, um, worrying them at this time.
Um, and that they're trying to get away from.
Right. Um, and it could be, you know, just bad habits, toxic relationships, you know, all of those different things that can show up and you feel like you're being, you know, chased or hunted down and you've got to run away and hide and you just don't want to deal with it.
And so chasing, because the thing is, is it specifically some, something that is chasing you?
Definitely. We know that that sort of looming kind of character is, is an, is usually associated with anxiety about something coming after you.
If someone is just running though it doesn't necessarily mean that they're being chased so we just want to make that distinction but usually if we feel that something is being chased there's another element so this person obviously for me is there's something kind of going on in their life right now
that they're trying to get away from or they feel that is catching up to them i got so many questions honestly there were so many people that had very extensive in -depth dreams so to anyone that wants to learn more about their dreams or even the ones that you answered and they want to learn more about that do
you offer one -on -one or is there a way for them to reach you yeah so they can find me at natashadreamseer .com they can find me on social media as natashadreamseer sign up for my newsletter that would be the best way possible i also put a lot of really cool content and i pretty much answer my dms so if people
just are like what does this mean um but I would say connect with me sign up for my newsletter um I do one -on -ones as well with those if there's something that's really that you're kind of working through and it's just really impressed upon you and you just can't shake it or um you're just super curious
about it then definitely let's go into a one -on -one because it'll be a little bit mind -blowing for you.
Um, for sure. Otherwise connecting with me on social media, my link in bio will be there.
They can, you know, sign up for my newsletter and I'll be sending things out periodically.
I am going to be releasing my GPT of DreamSeer, which can just be, it'll automatically be added into their, um, list in chat GBT and you can use it.
And I've been training it and that way you can get a concise type of, um, meaning that I think is in line with, you know, and proper.
Um, and again, just coming back to yourself and kind of trusting yourself too, um, as well, but yeah, connect with me on socials, sign up for my newsletter, connect with me, uh, if you'd like a one -on -one and always open to dialogue and conversation.
Feel free to message me and DM.
Amazing. I'm so excited for the ChatGBT thing.
I'm going to be using that every single morning.
I'm going to wake up and say, what does this mean?
Yeah, so I'm going to be using it soon, actually.
So probably in the next week.
Amazing. Well, thank you so much for coming on.
And I loved learning more.
I'm sure this is going to help so many other people.
And also just thank you for taking the time to talk with me.
Like I said, before having you on, I was like hesitant about having guests on, but it was really fulfilling.
I learned so much. And like I said, it was so easy just because we're so aligned with one another and I just had a really good time.
So very, very grateful for you to be here.
Thank you so much for having me, for choosing me to be the first one.
And, you know, people are going to be dreaming more um more and more and more as you know time goes on and especially we've got this wonderful pisces placement that's happening um it's going to be for the next year uh pisces in the north node so it's kind of on the top of our head per se and so um cultivate the dreaming space because you know we've got the power
within to really help us navigate life To be continued...
