Hey, I'm Gianna Pradente.
And I'm Jamej Jackson -Gadston.
We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts.
There's a lot to figure out when you're just starting your career.
That's where we come in.
Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice.
And if we don't know the answer, we bring in people who do.
Like negotiation expert Maurie Teheri -Por.
If you start thinking about negotiations as just a conversation, then I think it sort of eases us a little bit.

Welcome to Before Breakfast, a production of iHeartRadio.
Good morning. This is Laura.
Welcome to the Before Breakfast podcast.
Today's tip is to make bite -sized bucket lists.
Lifetime bucket lists can sometimes be overwhelming.
But smaller lists, aimed at a specific period of time, can feel a lot more doable, and can help you make any stretch of time the best it can be.
Today's episode was inspired by Jodie Wellman's book, You Only Die Once.
This book is largely about how to enjoy life more, given that it is, ultimately, limited.
She is not opposed to grand bucket lists.
You should take that trip to New Zealand sometime.
But even if that is not happening this week, that doesn't let you off the hook for making this week or this month as fun as it could be.
Hence, the bite -sized bucket lists.
Create lists like Things Will Do in the Best July Ever.
This suggests some ideas like catch fireflies with the kids, or go tubing, or go peach picking, or light a lot of sparklers.
Or perhaps you create a list of all the things you'd like to do on an amazing week off on vacation.
That could be things like eat breakfast in bed every morning, or, if you like more active sort, run a 5K on the beach.
You could create a list of the top 10 ways we will crush the winter holidays, which might include checking out the light show downtown, or making Grandma's cookie recipe.
Of course, you could make these lists for your professional life too.
Think the Best Career Year of My Life list, which might include making one presentation per quarter, or initiating 12 mentoring sessions, or actually starting that brown bag lunch series you keep talking about.
Again, Wellman writes that if you are also inspired by the good old -fashioned big bucket list, I am not here to stop you from drafting that size -large list of things to squeeze in before you die.
However, even if you make that list, you might use it to inform your smaller lists.
You might want to visit the Grand Canyon, but then if you pull that off and go to the Grand Canyon, you could make a list of all the ways you are going to make that an amazing trip, which might include even little things, like reading a novel at night while you are there.
Long -time listers know I love making seasonal fun lists.
How am I going to enjoy fall before fall is over?
What will go on my holiday fun list?
The more lists we make, the better.
Sometimes in a busy life it is hard to figure out what we will do with our discretionary time, or even what we would like to spend time on in general.
It's easy to be reactive.
But time is ultimately limited.
I believe we have a lot of time, but we don't have an infinite amount of time.
So if we are looking to enjoy whatever time we have on this planet, it's best to be a little intentional about it.
Bite -sized bucket lists can help make that happen.
You could even make a list of, like, all the ways I am going to crush Monday.
If you do that, the odds are good.
That you will have a better Monday than you would have otherwise.
If you make a bite -sized bucket list, I would love to hear what you put on it.

I'm NK, and this is Basket Case.
What is wrong with me?
A show about the ways that mental illness is shaped by not just biology, swaps of different meds, but by culture and society.
By looking closely at the conditions that cause mental distress, I find out why so many of us are struggling to feel sane, what we can do about it, and why we should care.
