It's imagination time with Katie. Hi friends.
Welcome to a special holiday episode of Imagination Time.
This celebration is inspired by the super simple song, Let's Decorate Our Christmas Tree. but will also be exploring a few different holidays that happened during the month of December.
Let's go! Hello, it's good to be with you my friend.
Hello, hello. I'm glad we're together again We got Zach on the keys Katie singing, la, la, la, la, la, we'll have some fun in our imagination Go on adventures again and again Hello, hello.
It's good to be with you, my friend. Hello, hello.
Welcome to this festive fun holiday episode of Imagination Time.
I'm Katie and this is Zach. Ho, ho, hello, hello.
Zach, are you pretending to be Santa? Oh, I think so.
You must be getting excited for Christmas.
Me too. Christmas is a holiday that happens every year on December 25th.
But there's a lot of Christmas magic that happens throughout the month of December. like having a Christmas tree.
One tradition for families who celebrate Christmas is having a tree in their house and decorating it with lights and ornaments.
I celebrate Christmas and decorating my Christmas tree is one of my favorite things.
I love how the lights twinkle and make my home feel bright and merry all winter long.
Today, let's imagine getting ready for Christmas, and we can decorate our Christmas tree in our imaginations.
But Katie, some of our friends might not celebrate Christmas.
You're right, Zach. Sometimes it can feel like Christmas is everywhere during the month of December.
But there are actually a bunch of different holidays that families can celebrate during this time.
Like Hanukkah! And Kwanza too! Maybe some of our friends celebrate those holidays, and they have their own special traditions they'd like to imagine.
Anything is possible in our imaginations.
But if we're going to fit all these holiday celebrations in our minds, we better take a few moments to clear our heads before we begin.
Are you ready, Zach? Ready, Katie? Are you ready, friends?
Let's take a deep breath all together. In one, two, three, hold it Out three, two, one Let's imagine it's the holiday season.
That means it's winter time. That's a time when the night comes early and it's cold and snowy.
Can you imagine the dark night in your mind? and maybe we can see a few fluttering snowflakes floating down from way up high in the sky.
Falling, falling, falling. and landing at our toes.
I imagine my body might feel a chill from the snow.
But instead, I imagine I feel warm and full of light. because it's time for the holidays.
And that means spending time with the people I love.
Can you imagine you feel a warm light coming from deep inside?
Sharing that warm light is what the holidays are all about.
No matter how you celebrate. Let's close our eyes and take one more big breath together.
We can imagine we're breathing in all the holiday magic and then sending it back out.
In one, two, three, hold it Out three, two, one Now we're ready for one of my favorite holiday traditions.
Decorating a Christmas tree! Let's decorate our Christmas tree as pretty as a tree can be.
We'll decorate and we won't stop until we put the star on top.
That's right. When we're all done decorating the tree, we'll put a star decoration on the very top as the finishing touch.
But we have a lot to do before we can do that.
Let's start with the lights. First come the lights all in a line Soon they'll make the whole tree shine Round and round the tree they go From way up high to way down low Can you see the lights in your mind?
I imagine I can see them wrapped around the tree, shining brightly.
I imagine some of them are blinking on and off.
It makes them look like they're twinkling.
I imagine the lights on my tree are all different colors.
Wow, that sounds very festive. No matter what kind of lights you see in your mind, let's imagine them shining brightly. lighting up the darkness.
It's beautiful. Now that the lights are on the tree, It's time for the Ornaments!
Next are the ornaments big and small Let's find spots to hang them all So many places they can go From way up high to An ornament can be anything really.
A big colorful bone. or a homemade craft.
What I love most about ornaments are the memories I remember when I see them.
Some ornaments are old and have been in the family for a long time.
Some ornaments I made when I was a little girl.
All of them have special memories and stories I remember as I hang them on the tree.
I try to be very careful with them as I find the perfect spot on the branches.
What kind of ornaments do you imagine you're decorating with?
I imagine I have an ornament of Santa's sleigh.
I think I have one like that too. At least I can picture it in my imagination.
I imagine I see a little Santa sitting in his sleigh with a string attached so he can hang on the tree.
Let's imagine putting it on one of the branches.
We'll look for the perfect spot. Look around Look around Look around And see what can be found I found one I can see it in my mind Not too high and not too low.
Let's imagine placing it on the branch so it hangs in the air.
Now it looks like the sleigh is flying through the sky.
Who wouldn't go? Honestly ride with Santa in the snow Hey!
That gives me an idea! Maybe we can imagine we are flying in the sky, like Santa's sleigh.
Wow, we can soar through the night sky, seeing all the houses from way up high.
Anything is possible in our imaginations.
Let's take a break from decorating and give it a try.
We can be anything when we're imaginary anything oh anything imagine with me I imagine we're lifting up, getting lighter and lighter and floating higher and higher until We're up in the night air soaring through the sky.
We're flying, just like Santa's sleigh. I imagine I can feel the wind brush past me as I look down below at all the houses.
I can see houses all decorated with lights.
It's so beautiful seeing all the lights during the holiday season.
Can you imagine how it looks from way up high in your mind?
I imagine I see a different kind of light.
It's coming from a window. Oh, I imagine I see it down below too.
Let's take a closer look. Let's imagine flying down, getting lower and lower, and closer to the light, until we're just outside the window looking in.
The light looks like it's a candle shining.
I imagine there are lots of candles. I see.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. eight candles, altogether on one candlestick.
The family that lives in this home must celebrate Hanukkah!
This is a menorah, an important part of the Hanukkah holiday.
One of the traditions of Hanukkah is lighting a candle each night during the holiday. so they shine bright.
Lighting a candle is a job for a grown-up, but we can imagine it.
Can you see the flicker of light at the top of a long candle in your mind?
It makes me feel all warm inside. I imagine I see another group of candles in a different house.
These candles look a little different. Let's imagine flying from one window to the next, and we'll take a closer look.
These candles are red and green, with a black one in the middle.
I see one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, seven candles.
This is a canara. A canara is used during the holiday of Kwanzaa.
The family in this house must celebrate Kwanzaa.
Each night, during the week of Kwanzaa, one candle is lit.
Can you imagine them shining in your mind?
Shine, shine brightly. Shine, shine, shine.
Shine, shine. Shine, shine, shine So many beautiful lights shine brightly to warm the hearts of those who celebrate.
Whether we're lighting a candle or a tree, A light shining through the dark night can be a wonderful symbol of warmth and the love we shared together.
And that's something to celebrate. Let's imagine flying through the night one more time as we head back to our homes, each filled with our own special kind of holiday cheer.
Flying through the sky, woosh, woosh Flying through the sky, woosh, woosh I like flying, flying through the sky I imagine I'm flying back down into my warm home.
What do you imagine you see in your home, in your mind?
I imagine I see my Christmas tree with the ornaments and lights all decorated and shining bright.
Wait, Katie, we forgot about the star. Oh, right, Zach, the final finishing touch of the Christmas tree, the star on top.
Let's imagine reaching up and placing it on the tallest part of the tree.
Last comes the star so big and bright To share with us its Christmas light There's only one place it should be at the very top of our Christmas tree Bye!
No matter how you spend the holidays, I hope you feel that warm light deep inside of you and that you share it with those around you.
That's what the holiday season is all about.
I'm so glad we got to celebrate together today.
I wish you a very happy holidays. Happy Hanukkah!
