Hi, my name is Evie and this is a video to help you learn English and to practice your listening comprehension.
Today, i am going to film a video about how i do my makeup.
Um, and i need to do my hair as well, so let's go.
So, or should i start with my hair, because this is literally a mess.
So I have a fringe that's this hair at the front here, and it is such a mess.
So normally I use straighteners.
These are straighteners to kind of fix, to fix my fringe.
So I'm going to turn it on with this little switch.
Okay, and now we wait until it beeps again.
When it beeps, that means these are ready.
So while I wait, today I have a day off.
I have two days off work and i think i'm going to okay, these are ready.
Um, i think i'm going to spend my day off writing.
Um, i really enjoy writing.
So when i have a day off, I mostly go to cafes.
I go to cafes and I write.
So I'm probably going to do that.
Today I also wanted to film this video.
This is my my second video on YouTube.
And I did try to film a video the other day and it was so bad.
It was really bad.
I have no idea how to use like, how to use the camera or kind of how how to set up the audio, and i basically, the other day i tried to film a video about learning a language through um, comprehensible input, so just by listening to a language um, in order to learn it.
So i filmed this video and it was.
It was so bad.
I kept moving the camera and it means that the shots were constantly changing and it looked rubbish.
So I'm filming another one.
I'm gonna start with, I always start with my eyes.
So I have this eyeshadow palette.
So this is a palette.
A palette is basically when you have multiple paints or eyeshadows in one palette.
Place like an artist.
So this is my eyeshadow palette.
I'm going to use this color here, which is sort of like a purple.
We would call this color taupe, actually.
Um, and i just put that all over my eyelid let me move my French so I put that all over my eyelid with this eyeshadow brush.
This is an eyeshadow brush.
It's a fluffy one, so we use the fluffy brush when we're doing eyeshadow.
So I actually don't wear very much makeup.
Um, i'm not very good at makeup.
My sister is a makeup artist, so she's like, amazing at doing makeup, but i'm not very good at doing makeup.
Um, i'm now gonna use this, this brown color, And I put this on my outer corner.

So.
I have also been thinking about what I want for this YouTube channel, what videos I want to make in the future or why I'm making videos.
I think I want to make blogs and kind of relaxed kind of day in the life videos.
Um, the reason being, that means why, the reason why I want to do this.
I think there are lots of videos online which are kind of very educational.
So come to a supermarket or go to an airport and we will talk about the things that are there.
But When I learn a language, I prefer to watch content that I enjoy.
I prefer to watch content that is fun, content that I would also watch in English.
So I'm basically trying to do that.

I'm not very good at talking you through what I'm doing.
I'm now using this eyeliner.
It's in brown and I usually wear more makeup on my eyes, so I put a small line here above my eyelashes.
I put a line above my eyelashes.
Um, i also tightline my eyes.
So that means i put the pencil on this line here.
I'll show you.
So i go like this, which is horrible when I first wore eyeliner and I this is called tight lining I tight lined my eyes for the first time I was like crying, but it doesn't feel uncomfortable um, it just looks kind of horrible.
So I do this And I do this top line as well above my eyelashes.
Amazing, cool.
I also like to drag the eyeliner out a little bit so I drag it out.
I draw a little line here.
Cool.
And now I look kind of crazy.
I now just rub it with my finger to make it more soft with my finger and i try and shape it into a wing.
So a wing is, when you have the little lines coming off your eyes, a wing, amazing um.
Before i do my mascara, i like to wear concealer.
So i have this concealer, which is really old um, and yeah, i just put some here and here, here and on my chin, and some on my nose.
I blend my makeup with my finger, so i tap it.
If you tap tap tap tap tap tap, it's like this, so i tap it.
Um, i do have really old beauty blender, a makeup sponge, but I don't really use it because I'm quite lazy and I don't wear loads of concealer, so I just tap my concealer in my under eye.
This is my under eye.
And when you have these kind of shadows under your eye, they're called eye bags.
Eye bags.
So, I want to make these videos that I find enjoyable.
I also think there is not a lot of content available in the British English accent, which I have.
So I work as an English teacher, and sometimes I meet students who find me difficult to understand because they are more used to hearing the American accent.
So I wanted to have more British English available online, more British English content that beginners can understand.
So hopefully this is helpful for you.
I know lots of people want to learn the British English accent as well.

I'm going to do my mascara, so I use this brand, which is Clinique, and it's a black mascara.
So my eyeliner is brown, but my mascara is black.
I have never tried brown mascara, But apparently brown is nice with blue eyes.
So maybe I should try it.
Maybe in the future I should try brown mascara.
I also have an eyelash curler, but it doesn't have any pads.
So to use this it needs to have pads, a protection, and I don't have that.
So I use my finger again and I curl my lashes up, curl my lashes up and then i put on my mascara.
Like this i mostly.
I usually put more mascara on the outside of my eye.
In the UK lots of people want to have cat eyes, eyes that are kind of like this.
So this is my attempt to make my eyes look more like the eyes of a cat.
Like this.
While I'm here, I also wanted to talk a bit about language learning and why I'm making videos.
So I said that I want to make videos that people enjoy watching.
I think this is important because I am learning Spanish at the moment and I learnt Spanish by listening to Spanish.
It was really helpful for me to listen all the time and then I got better and better and better.
So at the moment I have listened to 700 hours of Spanish videos and I can understand Spanish.
I now watch native content in Spanish.
So I think this listening is a really important skill to practice.
I also I work as an English tutor.
So I teach English to people who are trying to to learn.
And Something that is very interesting is the students that listen all the time have the best level of comprehension.
We can talk about anything and they have the best grammar, they have the widest vocabulary and conversation is really easy.
So, if you are learning English, I really recommend listening all the time, because it means that you develop this instinct.
You develop this instinct in english, where you just know what word to say.
You just it feels right um, and i think that's really important.
So listen to more english.
I'm now going to add some bronzer.
This one is really old.
You can see I've hit the pan.

I've used it so much and I use this big, fluffy bronzer brush and I put it here under my cheeks.
Um, in the uk we want to be tan, so people love to go sunbathing.
People want their skin to be brown um, So bronzer is a really popular makeup product.
I am very pale, so that is not really what most people want.
Okay um, i'm not doing anything very special today.
I'm just going to get a coffee.
So the last thing i do is i wear a lipstick.
This is the clinique black honey and It's this kind of dark colour, but when you put it on, when you apply your lipstick, it's really pretty.
So, amazing.
I then kind of smudge it a little bit.
Yeah, this is basically how I do my makeup each day.
I think my hair is quite frizzy.
It's quite fluffy today, so I'm gonna use my straightener again to try and calm it down a little bit.
But in general, this is how I do my makeup.
