Well, today I lost my keys and I really need to get out the door so I can record the audio trailer to a brand new GZM show.
It's called The Do-Good Detectives and it's about these two kids, Nora and Trey Do-Good, and how, episode by episode and case by case, they solve a new mystery every week.
Like the case of the missing keys, am I right?
Oh, maybe this is... Nope.

So anyway, this new podcast you're about to listen to is so darn fun.
It's all about Nora and her little brother Trey, and how they solve mysteries in their hometown of Sunshine Bay by getting facts, gathering clues and well, doing good.

My keys fell off the hook and landed in the bowl of dry cat food.

In the cozy seaside town of Sunshine Bay, Massachusetts, the summers can get awfully hot.
Hot enough to melt the sneakers right off your feet.
Oh man, and I just got these shoes.
Mom is going to be so mad at me.
Shh, I'm recording, Trey.
That's my sidekick, Nicholas Do-Good III, also known as my little brother, Trey.
My name is Nora Do-Good.
And yes, I've heard all the jokes, but I'm not a do-gooder by trade.
I'm just a detective who happens to do a lot of good.
Comes with the territory, I suppose.
On this particular day, Trey and I were on a mission to cool off, riding our bikes straight from the sweltering beach to the coolest ice cream shop on the Cape.
Benny's Sunshine Scoops, home of the 47 flavors.
But what we found instead was a mystery melting faster than a triple scoop on the 4th of July.
Tell them the name of the case, Noah.

Ahem.
Do Good Detectives, case number 36, The Mystery of the Melted Mint Chip.
When Trey and I arrived at Sunshine Scoops for ice cream, we could tell something wasn't adding up.
Nora, math in the summer?
That's just rude.
Not numbers, Trey.
A mystery.
A mystery that looked more muddled than Mocha Swirl.
A small crowd of very hot, very disappointed people had gathered outside the shop while the owner, Sunshine Benny, himself addressed them.
I'm sorry, folks.
There won't be any ice cream today.
No ice cream, Benny.
It's the hottest day of the summer.
No ice cream.
I know.
I'm sorry.

You'd be surprised what I can believe.
But what happened?
It's a tragedy.
Our ice cream melted overnight!

No, so you're saying your 47 flavors turned into soup, all 47?

Did i mention that trey has what's called an eidetic memory?
That means he can remember images or sounds in great detail, even if he's only heard or seen them once.
Gotta say, it comes in pretty handy when you're solving mysteries.
French vanilla soup, cherry vanilla soup.
Okay trey, i think we get the idea.
So, mr benny, When did you discover this dessert disaster?
I'm the one who found the melted ice cream when I came in this morning.
Oh, hi.
And you are?
Oh, I'm Milo.
I just got this gig.
And, well, man, I cannot afford to lose another job, bro.
I feel you, bro.
Tell me exactly what you found, Milo.
Well, I showed up this morning 20 minutes late on the dot.
Grabbed a spoon to test the flavors.
You know, quality control, bro.
But when I opened the freezer, it was nothing but a river of goop.
Delicious, delicious goop.
I see.
Was there a power outage overnight?
No!
When we got up this morning, the clock on the microwave was flashing.
So there was a power outage.
The power company usually gives us plenty of warning if the power is going to be out.
Trey, we passed by yesterday, right?
On our way home from baseball?
I wanted a scoop of caramel turtle twist, but you said no ice cream before dinner.
Can you remember?
Were there any signs or papers on the wall?
Let's see.
A poster for surfing lessons?
A flyer for the community beach cleanup?
That's it.
No warning about a power outage.
You're sure?
Very sure.
Trey has an eidetic memory.
If he says it wasn't there, it wasn't there.
When did you arrive, Mr. Benny?
Pretty soon after Milo.
I'd stop next door at the Cupcake Bakery to get some breakfast and coffee.
That's when Milo called me with the terrible, terrible news.
You must have been really upset when you saw that all your dairy deliciousness had been defrosted.
So upset that I spilled my coffee all over my shirt.
Hope you didn't get burned.
It was iced coffee, but thank you for your concern.
Oh, I can't believe this happened to my 47 fantastic flavors!
Cookie dough and cappuccino crunch and peanut butter swirl and mint chip and I'm sorry for your loss.
Me too!
But, um, would I be able to buy some of that mint chip soup?
Maybe put it in a cup?

Colby, the owner of Colby's Cupcake Cafe, whose Stay Cool Cupcakes were making their big debut that day.
Trey slurped his ice cream soup as we walked into the shop.
It smells so good in here.

Uh, of course.
Yeah, everything in our freezer thawed and we had to throw out several cartons of milk from the fridge.
That's terrible, and on such an important day for your shop, your stay cool.
Cupcakes must be selling very well.
Well, they are very refreshing and delightful, if i do say so myself, i agree, And with Mr Benny's ice cream temporarily unavailable, cupcake business must be booming.
I suppose that's true.

Mr. Benny told us he came in this morning for his usual coffee and cupcake.
Yes, he's not only our building mate, he's one of our most loyal customers.
And he ordered an iced coffee.
How was there ice ready if you didn't know the power was going to be out?
Okay, you're right.
I got the warning notice from the power company yesterday.
I meant to tell Benny.
Really, I did.
But I was so busy preparing for the cupcake launch.
Then my sprinkle dispenser erupted into confectionary chaos.
And by the time I cleaned up, it just slipped my mind.
Sounds like a sticky situation.
You can say that again.
And then when the power actually did go out, I was too embarrassed to admit I'd known.
It felt easier to pretend I didn't.
But now I see I just made things worse.
You know, maybe there's a way to make it up to Mr. Benny and his customers.
What if some of these Stay Cool cupcake samples went next door to help cool things down?
Oh, that's a great idea, Nora!
I'll even bring over pitchers of iced coffee and iced tea.
Yes!
So while Benny's Sunshine Scoops took a hit that day, Miss Colby offered Benny free iced coffee for a month and to supply, Stay Cool Cupcakes to all of Benny's disappointed customers.
Trey even demonstrated how to make his mouth-watering masterpiece.
There you go.
Take a big chunk of cupcake and dip it right into the ice cream soup.
Yeah, culinary mastermind, bro.
For me, being a detective isn't about pointing fingers.
It's about fixing what's broken or melted.
