Hello, everybody. My name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
You and me, every day.
Come on, let's master English.
Hello everybody welcome back to daily easy English expression the podcast. Sometimes when you get angry, do you do something that you regret?
You know like maybe you hit somebody or you yell at somebody or maybe you say a really bad word. You use bad language.
Maybe you break something.
You destroy something.
Maybe if you're driving you drive really fast and really dangerous.
None of those things are good.
But we're humans. We do that, right?
And in that situation you can say I lost my cool.
I lost my cool. I lost, L -O -S -T, my, M -Y, cool, C -O -O -L.
And what that means is usually you are cool and the idea of being cool is not too excited.
So even when you're angry, if you are in control of your your emotions, you don't yell, you don't break things, you don't drive fast, but sometimes we get so angry, we explode, and in those situations, you lose your cool.
Check out the dialog.
Why is there spaghetti sauce on the wall?
Oh I got a little angry last night, huh and And I lost my cool.
I'll clean it up This guy got really angry, and what he threw his spaghetti on the wall.
That's crazy. I Don't know you know I I saw a guy one time when I lived in Korea I was at a restaurant just a small kind of neighborhood restaurant And there was just me sitting at one table, and then there were two guys sitting at a different table.
Now, in Korea, the tables, you sit on the floor.
And the tables are very short, okay?
So, at first, it's kind of uncomfortable for me, but I got used to it in Korea.
I didn't mind it sitting on the floor and eating my meal on the table.
There's a short table.
So anyway, these two guys were 10 meters from me, and they started to argue, and then the one Korean guy he flipped the table into his friend, all the food, all the beer it was beer and chicken, went into his friend, the guy was so angry he lost his cool, and flipped over the table.
I couldn't believe it I was I was embarrassed but I pretended not to notice and I kept eating my chicken and drinking my beer yeah so you know when I was younger I'll be honest I used to lose my cool but now that I'm older I like never lose my cool I don't I'm always in control and minty minty get down from there I told you not to go on the bookcase minty oh sorry yeah my cat was on the bookcase but it's okay it's okay minty I'll talk to you later yeah so I whatever lose my cool that is today's expression L -O -S -E present tense, past tense, lost, L -O -S -T.
Don't lose your cool.
If you've lost your cool, I want you to leave a message and check out the dialogue.
