In today's video, I'm going to teach all of you how to order pizza in English.
Yes, we are at the world's largest pizza chain, Domino's.
Let's go inside and see how to order pizza in English.
Today, we're going to be tackling one of the world's favorite foods, pizza.
So I'm going to teach all of you different words and phrases and vocabulary.
You need to know to speak confidently when ordering pizza.
Like if you want to order a slice in the store, if you want to order takeout like a big pie, as well as ordering something for delivery, where it will be delivered to your door.
But before ordering pizza, let's talk about why pizza is so irresistible.
Pizza is this fantastic dish that is round, but sometimes it can be square.
Also, it's built on this flatbread base called the crust or the dough.
Then it's slathered with this tangy tomato sauce and on top of it is melted mozzarella cheese.
And then finally, the best part is the toppings.
Pizza places can be different.
So in some places you can order a single piece, call it a slice, or you can order the whole pizza, which is called a pie.
You can even call them for delivery.
So in this video I will break it down step by step on how to order pizza, so you can feel confident in ordering pizza anywhere.
Okay.
So since we're in Domino's, let's imagine we're ordering a whole pizza, whether it's for delivery or at the counter.
What do you need to decide?
Well, if you don't want it to get too complicated, you can just order one of their specialty pizzas on the menu.
So you can order the deluxe pizza, a margarita, the pepperoni Hawaiian barbecue chicken and the veggie pizza.
These pizzas are very common here in America, so you'll probably find them in every menu and every pizzeria in the US.
And to be honest with you guys, I really like the barbecue chicken pizza.
But if you want something different maybe you have a topping you love, or maybe there's an ingredient that you don't wanna put on your pizza, or if you just want to mix everything all together Then you can build your own pizza, and that's where the fun really starts.
First, you'll start by selecting your crust, and there are many options.
You can get a handmade pan.
You can get it hand-tossed, a thin crust, a New York style and a gluten-free pizza.
Then you select the size.
So the small is 10 inches, the medium is 12 inches, the large is 14 inches and there's even an extra large which is huge, and it's 16 inches.
Sometimes, if I don't know how big or how wide the pizza is, I'll ask the people working here Is this pizza good for one to two people like the small?
Or if I want the extra large, I'll be like, how much will this feed?
Next, you pick the sauce.
The most common sauce to order on pizza is tomato sauce or just pizza sauce.
But if you're a little bit weird like me, you can order a sauce like barbecue sauce, garlic Parmesan sauce, You can order Alfredo sauce and even ranch.
Yes, a salad dressing can go on top of pizza.
Next is the cheese.
You can ask for a light cheese, extra cheese, or even no cheese.
Yes, you can just skip the pizza without adding cheese on top, but I don't know of a single person who has eaten pizza without cheese.
Next up, my favorite part.
Toppings are all of the extra ingredients you put on top of the sauce and the cheese before putting the pizza in the oven.
There are many toppings you can choose from.
Pizza toppings come in two main categories, meats and vegetables.
Some popular meat toppings include pepperoni, Italian sausage, bacon, chicken, beef, and ham.
For vegetables and other toppings.
You'll commonly find jalapenos, black olives onions spinach mushrooms pineapple, anchovies and green bell peppers.
As you can see, there are many ways to order pizza, whether it's by the slice, in the restaurant or for delivery.
But sometimes, with loud background noises or even fast native speakers, it can be quite tricky to order pizza in English.

I'm going to order a large pizza that is New York style.
And I'm going to add three toppings to it.

Yes.

I'm going to have the regular pizza sauce.
And then for toppings, let me do pepperoni, mushrooms, and green peppers.
