Hi everyone.
In today's video we're going to cover how to professionally say I'm interested in the job because of the salary.
Look, there is nothing wrong with being motivated by money, but if an interviewer asks why are you interested in this job or what motivates you at work, and you respond with money, my salary or benefits, this could be a huge red flag for the recruiter if you don't say it the right way.
Our goal for today's video is to give you an answer to these questions that's honest but won't set off any alarms.
So here's the thing.
If you simply say I'm motivated by a high salary, this sparks three different red flags for recruiters.
First, it kind of seems like you took the lazy way out of answering.
Everyone needs money to live, that's obvious.
And answering this way makes it seem like you didn't really even try to come up with a real reason.
The second red flag is it makes it seem like you don't really care about what the company does or what the job even entails.
You might not have even read the job description.
You just saw the salary and applied.
And lastly, it implies that salary is the only thing you care about and you would leave the second.
You got a higher offer.
Now, I don't want you to lie or have to make up a fake answer.
You'll see a lot of people on YouTube, TikTok and Reddit complaining right now that they shouldn't have to make up these fake answers to interview questions just to sound better.
And I totally agree with that.
You should not lie.
But you can see how, even if you're trying to be honest, you're raising some huge red flags for recruiters.
Instead, there's a trick to answering these questions that remains truthful but also impresses recruiters and hiring managers.
First, start with something that showcases how your strengths align with the job.
Then, tie your interest and money with being awarded for your performance.
And if you can, mention specifically how their pay structure will motivate you.
Lastly, add one thing that you really loved about the company.
This way you're being honest, but you're still proving that you understand the job requirements and showing that you really want to work at that company.
Here's an example answer using that trick.
It seemed like a job required a lot of project management and organization, which are two of my greatest strengths.
In addition, I'm really motivated by higher earning potentials and knowing that if I put the work in, I'll be rewarded for it.
Your company has a competitive offer with a nice bonus structure that I'm sure will help me reach my goals.
I also really love that your company focuses on pro bono work at least once a month.
Use that trick in your next interview and let us know how it goes.
I hope this video was helpful in creating an honest but positive answer to why do you wanna work here and what motivates you.
Good luck in your interview.
