It's imagination time with Katie. Hi friends, you're listening to Super Simple's Imagination Time with Katie.
I'm Katie, and I'm feeling... Happy, happy, happy.
Do you know that song? It's called My Happy Song.
We're going to imagine all sorts of happy things today, and we'll see how that makes us feel.
Are you ready? Let's go! It's good to be with you, my friend Hello, hello I'm glad we're together again We've got Zach on the keys Katie singing la la la la la We'll have some fun in our imagination Go on adventures again and again It's good to be with you, my friend.
Hello, hello. I'm Katie, and this is Zach playing the piano.
Hello, hello. Did you know this episode is our 25th episode of Imagination Time?
That means there are 24 episodes of Imagination Time filled with Imagination Adventures, Social Emotional Learning Moments, And of course, your favorite super simple songs.
And this episode is the beginning of season three.
It's a brand new year, and there's so much to look forward to.
That makes me feel happy, happy, I know there's gonna be lots of fun and happy things in the year to come.
But I also know there's probably going to be a few things that will feel hard and frustrating too.
That's just a part of learning and growing.
It's not a bad thing, even though sometimes it can feel kind of bad.
It would be nice to feel happy and excited all the time, but the ups and downs are a part of life.
But you know what? When things don't go right, and maybe we start to feel grumpy, There are things we can do to help bring back a happy, excited feeling like the one we're feeling right now by using our imaginations.
With practice, we can create that happy, happy, happy feeling anytime.
Are our imaginations really that powerful?
Well, they can certainly help. It takes practice, and it might not work every time.
But we can always try. Let's try it together.
First, let's take a moment to really tap into our imaginations by relaxing our bodies and calming our minds.
Then I'll show you what I mean. Are you ready, Zach?
Ready, Katie. Are you ready, friends? Let's close our eyes and take a deep breath.
In one, two, three, hold it Out three, two, one with our eyes closed.
It's sometimes easier to hear the little things around us.
Maybe you can hear in the sound of my voice that I have a great big smile on my face.
And maybe you can imagine my great big smile in your mind.
Can you see it? I'm going to imagine your great big smile in my mind, too.
I imagine I see lots of happy smiles. Yeah!
I can see all our friends smiling in my imagination.
It gives me such a happy feeling, all the way from the top of my head, down to the tip of my toes.
How about you? Let's take one more deep breath with a big smile all together.
In one, two, three, hold it. Out three, two, one.
Such a happy feeling. It makes me want to sing a happy song.
This is my happy song I like to sing it all day long I'll teach you the words Then you can sing along Be happy, happy Happy, happy, happy, happy, happy, happy.
Happy, happy, happy, happy, happy, happy, happy.
Happy, happy, happy, happy. Well, we're certainly feeling happy right now.
But to learn how to use our imaginations to bring back a happy feeling, we'll have to imagine a situation where we might feel differently.
Something tricky. Something boring. Something that might make us feel grumpy.
Sometimes I feel a little grumpy I know.
Something that makes me feel grumpy is when I'm outside waiting for the bus and waiting and waiting.
And waiting. And it just doesn't come. Ugh.
And maybe it starts to rain. Oh yeah! And I forgot my umbrella!
Oh no! Rain, rain, go away Come again another day Your imaginations really are powerful.
I almost really do feel grumpy just by imagining having to wait and wait and wait for the bus in the rain without an umbrella.
Waiting. Waiting. But remember, we're just imagining this.
And just like we can imagine a tricky, frustrating feeling, we can also imagine a happy one.
And we can do this anytime we're feeling bored or grumpy.
It's a wonderful thing. Let's try it. Okay, let's put it to the test.
What are some things that make you feel happy, happy, happy?
How about... Cute animals! Ooh, puppies!
Puppies! Let's imagine the cutest puppies together.
We'll close our eyes and take a deep breath.
In one, two, three, hold it. Out three, two, one.
Do you see cute puppies in your mind? I imagine I see a super cuddly puppy that's white with brown spots.
It's got its tongue sticking out and its tail is wagging.
I imagine when it wags its tail, its whole body moves back and forth, shaking with excitement.
Little puppy wag your tail Little puppy wag your tail Wag wag wag wag Little puppy wag your tail This is so cute!
Ooh, you know what other animal is super cute?
Little duckies! With their little wings and orange beaks and fluffy yellow feathers.
Can you imagine them waddling around in your mind?
Moving their cute little duck bodies back and forth as they waddle along?
The ducks go waddling one by one, hurrah Hurrah The ducks go waddling one by one, hurrah Hurrah!
The ducks go waddling one by one The little one lies down in the sun And they all keep waddling on and on to get back to the pond.
Quack, quack, quack, quack. I imagine I can see them all waddling together in my mind.
Can you see it in your mind? It's so cute!
That's a super adorable thing to imagine.
And that definitely helps cheer me up and create that happy, happy, happy feeling. but creating a feeling in our mind takes practice.
So let's try another one together. What's something else that makes you feel happy, happy, happy?
What about a party? Yeah! Hey, how about a birthday party?
It could be your birthday party. Or maybe you'd like to imagine you're celebrating someone else.
Either way, we can imagine it's lots and lots of fun.
Let's try it. Let's close our eyes and take a deep breath.
In one, two, three, hold it. Out three, two, one.
We're at a birthday party! One that takes place in our imaginations.
So we can look like anything you want. I imagine there's blue balloons floating in the air.
With blue ribbons tying them down. I imagine I can see the balloons gently bouncing and moving, almost like they're dancing to the fun music that's playing.
It makes me want to dance too! I imagine there's a pinata!
Ooh, that's so fun! I love pinatas! There could be so many different things inside.
Maybe yummy candies or bags of snacks. I'm gonna imagine it's filled with little bouncy balls.
And when the pinata gets opened, the balls bounce all around the room.
Birthday parties are so much fun! Of course, a birthday party needs a birthday cake.
Can you imagine a birthday cake in your mind?
What does it look like? What does it smell like?
I imagine there's a cake covered with juicy strawberries and it smells delicious.
Should we take a bite? We have to sing the birthday song first.
Of course! How silly of me! Here we go! Happy Birthday to...
Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday to you!
I imagine the candles are glowing brightly.
I can see them in my mind flickering. They're blown out.
Hooray! It's time to try the cake. Let's imagine taking a big bite.
Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum.
That's some yummy birthday cake. I can almost really taste it.
We're getting pretty good at this imagination thing.
Let's imagine one more happy, happy, happy thought.
Something that will really help us feel that happy, excited feeling anytime we need it.
I'm thinking a thought I'm thinking a lot We need an idea, let's work with what we've got.
I got it. I imagine. It's a beautiful, warm, sunny day.
The sun is shining down and I can feel warm sand under my feet.
I imagine I can hear waves splashing against the shore.
And friends playing in the water. Are you imagining you're at the beach?
Yeah! A beautiful beach day with my friends and family.
You can go there too, even if it's just in your imagination.
Let's go to the beach Let's go to the beach Let's go to the beach Let's go to the beach We'll have so much fun Underneath the sun Lots to do and see Splash along with me Let's imagine going there together.
Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Can you imagine you feel the sun on your skin?
Maybe you feel a warm breeze blow past you.
Maybe you can hear the rolling waves and feel the sand.
Can you imagine squishing the sand between your toes?
I love the beach. One of my favorite things to do at the beach is to go swimming.
Can we imagine that together? Let's get ready to swim!
Getting ready, ready, ready, getting ready, ready, ready, ready, ready, ready, ready, ready, ready to swim.
Bathing suit on sunscreen on. towel, ready to go, and a grownup to watch and make sure we're safe out on the water.
Now, I think We're ready, ready, ready!
We're ready, ready, ready! To go swimming!
Let's imagine walking up to the water. The waves rolling in and getting a little closer to our feet each time.
Then the water reaches our toes. I imagine it's a little chilly. but it'll feel really nice on a warm day like the one in our imaginations.
Let's jump in on the count of three. One, two, three, splash!
Let's swim! Swimming, swimming, swimming in the sea.
Swimming so much fun? I imagine the water feels cool and refreshing as we move our arms and legs and swim through the waves.
Swimming, swimming, swimming through the sea.
Splash, splash! I imagine we can wave to our friends and family on the beach.
Hello! Well, let's go join them back on the beach.
We'll walk out of the water and we'll dry off in the sun.
Oh Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun Please shine down on me What a beautiful day at the beach Hey!
Imagining the sun and all those other fun things almost made me forget that this all started because we were imagining it was raining.
And even if we were still at the bus stop waiting in the rain without an umbrella, now we know how our imaginations can take us somewhere else. like the beach, or a birthday party. and how we can imagine things to help bring back a happy, happy, happy feeling.
Like cute puppies and ducks. When I close my eyes, I can almost see it in my mind.
And that can help change the way I feel.
So even if I'm in a tricky situation and maybe I start to feel grumpy, I can help my body and mind feel a bit better.
You can try it too. Sometime this year, you might feel frustrated or bored, or maybe you're somewhere you don't love to be, and you have to wait and wait and wait.
Try closing your eyes and taking a deep breath and imagining a happy thought.
Wait. Make that a happy, happy, happy thought.
Maybe you can try singing my happy song in your head.
This is my happy song I like to sing it all day long I'll teach you the words Then you can sing along Happy, happy, happy Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy, happy, happy, happy, happy.
That brings that happy, excited feeling right back.
This has been a great imagination adventure.
What a wonderful way to start a new year and a new season of imagination time.
We have lots of fun imagination adventures coming up, and we can't wait to imagine them all with you.
I hope you'll stick around for more fun using our imaginations.
That's something that makes me feel happy, happy, happy for sure.
Now it's time to say goodbye. Until next time.
