It is cozy, but I'm not sleepy yet.
Can you tell me a story?
Sure thing. I've got just the one.
It's about a little girl named Goldilocks.
And the three bears?
Yeah. But this story is about when Goldilocks went back to the bear's house to have a play date with Baby Bear.
Wait. Why would Baby Bear want to have a play date with Goldilocks?
Didn't she make a mess at her house last time?
She did make quite a mess, but this story is about Goldilocks trying to make it up to her.
It's called, Goldilocks and Baby Bear.
Once there was a baby bear who lived with her parents in a cozy home in the woods.
One day, when baby bear was home, she heard a great big knock on her door.
Knock, knock, knock.
Who could that be? Thought Baby Bear.
She tiptoed to the door, and swung it open.
Who do you think it was JJ?
Was it Goldilocks? It was.
She said, hey Baby Bear, I'm sorry I ate your porridge, broke your chair and slept in your bed.
I was hoping I could try to make it up to you.
Did Baby Bear invite her in?
Yes. She asked Mama and Papa Bear if she could have a play date then invited Goldilocks inside.
She thought this was really nice of Goldilocks.
Goldilocks looked around.
and wondered where she should start.
I ate your porridge, so what can I do to try to make that up to you?
Well, I am a little hungry.
Mama Bear gave Goldilocks a bowl with all the ingredients so Goldilocks could make porridge for Baby Bear.
As Goldilocks stirred it...
Flush! Flush! ...she thought she'd do something extra sweet for Baby Bear, so she added in a big spoonful of honey.
When the porridge was ready, Goldilocks handed Baby Bear a bowl and said, I tried to do better with all my might, so Baby Bear, tell me, is this just right?
I remember just how you like it, not too hot and not too cold.
Hmm. This porridge isn't too hot or too cold.
But it is too sweet.
It was sweet from the glop of honey.
That's right, J .J. Goldilocks was sad she messed up the porridge.
But it wasn't going to stop her from trying to help Baby Bear.
She said, I broke your chair, so what can I do to try to make that up to you?
Well, Mama Bear already made me a new chair.
Goldilocks stopped to think, then came up with an idea.
Why don't I make a soft seat cushion to go on your chair?
That sounds super comfy.
Goldilocks really wanted to make Baby Bear happy, so she took the ribbons out of her long golden hair and braided them together, crisscross, crisscross.
As she thought... Last time I was here, I made a huge mess.
I promise today will be a success.
When the ribbon cushion was all braided, I tried to do better with all my might, so baby bear tell me, is this just right?
Baby bear sat down but BOING BOING.
This cushion is too bouncy.
BOING BOING. Goldilocks was trying to make up for what she did wrong but she felt like she was only She looked over at Baby Bear's bed and said, I slept in your bed so what can I do to try to make that up to you?
Baby Bear, what if I made your bed and lined up your stuffies just right?
That sure would be nice.
Goldilocks took a deep breath.
She wanted to make sure everything was perfect this time.
She shook out the blanket with extra care.
She puffed up the pillows to be extra fluffy!
She even lined up all of Baby Bear's stuffies in a row, in size order big to small!
When she was finished, Goldilocks turned to Baby Bear and said, I tried to do better with all my might, so Baby Bear, tell me, is this just right?
Baby Bear looked at the bed and thought...
Hmm. It's almost perfect.
I tried so hard and I still didn't make the bed perfectly.
Maybe I should just go home.
Goldilocks, it doesn't matter if the porridge was sweet or the chair was bouncy.
What matters is that you spent all day trying to help me and I had so much fun.
Ah. Baby Bear knew Goldilocks cared because of how hard she tried.
You're right, JJ. Goldilocks felt better, but she had to ask what she did wrong with Baby Bear's bed.
Well, nothing's wrong exactly.
I was just going to say those stuffed animals shouldn't just be sitting there.
They need to be played with.
Oh! Goldilocks and Baby Bear giggled.
And did she stay to play?
Goldilocks stayed and played with Baby Bear.
Whoo -hoo! Mama! Watch this!
Whoa! So everything was finally just right.
The end! We heard a story.
Yes, it's true. And I helped tell it, too.
