Hey guys, it said we all know how i feel about intros, so i'm gonna keep this short.
In the spring, i always seem to want to get things done well, as in like my hair highlighted, so i decided to do all of the self-care beauty things at once.
I got my hair done, my lashes done, my brows done.
I got a new outfit.
Actually, i really some may say i went too far.
So that's all i have to say.
That's enough of this intro.
We're going back to 2013 YouTube, doing a voiceover.
I know this feels very outdated.
I wanted something really natural, something that people wouldn't even necessarily notice when they saw me.
The last time I had my hair done was one year ago and I got highlights and I loved them.
So I told her basically i wanted the same thing again, something that just looked like my hair was sun-kissed, a few highlights that were very natural but, most importantly, that when my hair grows out there won't be a stark contrast or harsh lines when my highlights grow out.
So, since that was my main focus, she did baby highlights.
She called it because they blend really easily and grow out really nicely.
If you've had your hair done before and gotten highlights or color, you know it takes forever.
I think this took around four hours for the whole process.
Okay guys, i am about to get my toner put in my hair.
I'm not the best with this stuff, like i don't exactly know what i'm talking about but she ended up doing baby lights, she called it.
They're really thin pieces of hair.
It took honestly, like quite a while but, especially because i have fine hair, she recommended that usually when i go into the hair salon i just kind of tell them a general idea of what I want, but if they have any recommendations for me and my hair, I usually just trust the hairdresser.
She recommended the baby lights because they are really thin pieces, so it should look like it blends together.
Anyways, that's what we're doing right now.
I also did uber eats myself lunch.
I was so hungry so i got a breakfast sandwich and a drink because i was so hungry.
So my hair at this point was fully highlighted.
I just couldn't really see it yet because my hair was still wet.
But a different hairdresser went in to do a cut again, very predictable of me.
I wanted something really natural, so i just got a little trim a couple inches off to clean up my dead ends.
And then I also asked for face framing, which I've been doing for a few years now.
I really like how it looks.
And since I have fine hair, it just adds a little bit of dimension and framing to my face.
And then she ended up throwing in some curls in my hair at the end and my hair was done.
I love the cut.
I love the color.
It was pretty much exactly what I asked and I can already smell the comments.
Some people are gonna be like why did you spend money on getting your hair done when it looks the exact same?
But to me it looks different and I wanted something really subtle.
And that's okay if you can't notice it, because I'd actually prefer it to be on the more natural side.
Just something a little bit lighter for summer.
Okay guys, I look a little crazy right now.
I'm about to get my brows done.
I'm at the Benefit Brow Bar in the West Village.
They put on like a little eye mask and face mask while I wait.
I'm very particular about like my eyebrows.
I think it's because I had a really bad experience when I was younger and this lady like ripped off half my eyebrow.
I'm very particular.
Especially when i move to a new place, i always like try to just find one person that i really like, that i can just go to, and i won't ever leave them until i like have to for some reason.
And this girl is great.
Sometimes i do threading and sometimes i do waxing.
I don't know what she's gonna do today.
It doesn't really matter to me, as long as it looks good, which it always does here.
And then she also convinced me to start doing a brow tint when I come, which I really like.
It's just like very subtle, but it does kind of fill in the sparse areas of my brows.
And I don't really need to fill in my brows as much when I get them tinted.
So I'm like, I might as well do it.
But yeah, I'm just waiting for my appointment to start.
Oh, it's also a few days later, by the way.
It's a couple of days after I got my hair done, which it looks good.
Can you see?
Can you see?
I don't know.
Okay guys, I got my brows done.
They look so good.
I got the tint and then threading.
I asked her to do threading because my eyelids sometimes get irritated.
I have like dermatitis sometimes so I just wanted to be careful.
But they look so good and she always does such an amazing job.
I like my eyebrows to be somewhat full, so she does a really good job of that, while still like keeping them cleaned up.
I just wanted to update you guys on my brows.
This is really just an excuse for me to buy a new outfit from Aritzia.
There is no reason for me to put this as a part of the glow up.
But in my head, using girl math, I figured, if I'm doing these glow up things, I might as well buy an outfit.
I don't know.
That's me trying to justify.
I really did want a nice new top for summer, specifically a corset vest, which they had.
Pretty much exactly what I was looking for.
And it was very classy and sophisticated.
So I did end up grabbing that before my lash appointment.
Okay guys, I can't tell you the last time I got a lash lift in tint.
It's one of my favorite high maintenance things to remain low maintenance.
I used to do this more, but I had like eyelid dermatitis, I think for a while.
I don't know what was going on.
If you guys have experienced that, I'd love to know in the comments, like what's helped you.
I had this cream from the Roche-Posay.
It helped me so much.
So I think I'm good for now.
But I've been waiting for that to go away because I obviously didn't want to touch anything near my eyelids until that was resolved.
And now that my eyelids have healed and look so good, I wanted to do a lash lift and tint.
So I'm going to do that today.
I like to do the keratin one because it's better for the health of your lashes and then i don't have to wear mascara, especially in the summer.
It's nice, like when you go swimming a lot.
So yeah, that's what i'm doing.
I've never been to this specific lash studio before, but they had really good reviews.
I look pale.
I need to fix that later.
Hey guys, I just got out of the shower.
So my hair looks a little bit crazy.
How am I supposed to open this?
This is me without any makeup on.
Actually, i should show you guys my eyebrows and eyelashes.
As someone who's very impatient, it makes my makeup routine go by so much faster in the mornings and you just wake up every morning and you feel ready without putting on anything, like really i could just leave my house.
Well, i will be leaving my house most mornings just like this.
I wanted to put on a little makeup this morning and like, finish up the glow up with you guys.
We're taking this very seriously.
I need to finish out the video by having my full outfit, which i got from aritzia, and makeup and hair done.
I met up with some family friends last night.
One of the ladies who i haven't seen in a month was like oh my gosh, did you get your hair done?
And i did freak out.
I was like yes, i did.
Thank you for noticing.
The other thing we needed to discuss is the unfortunate scenario of my nails.
Now well, let's not get too close.
They are pretty bad.
Let's just say that i'm someone who, if you've watched me for a while, i feel like hey, majority of the time i have my nails done.
I love having my nails done, getting them done at the salon.
But recently, as some of you know, things have gone downhill for me and i found out i'm allergic to getting my nails done.
I tried to pretend that this wasn't the case for the past six months.
I would still get them done, even though my nail beds would be so bumpy and i'd have awful outbreaks of itching.
I just like pretended that it wasn't happening.
I even tried organic nail salons that are so expensive and nothing helped.
Nothing helped and it got to the point where i think the allergy got worse for me.
It's developed, i would say, over the past like year slowly, to the point that it like affected my quality of sleep.
It was just getting bad.
So I was like, no nails are worth this agony that I'm experiencing.
So I decided to get them off, which I feel amazing.
Okay guys, I don't have that anymore.
Thank goodness.
So I'm happy about that.
But it leaves me with the question, what do I do now?
And this may seem a little trivial to some people, and it really it is trivial, but I'm just trying to figure out a solution from myself to where I can still have nice nails even though I'm allergic and can't really go to the salon anymore.
Today, we're going to be trying something out and let's hope it doesn't go downhill for me.
We're going to be putting on some press-ons.
I don't think these are going to cause an issue, but then again, I actually don't know why I'm doing this kind of like a low risk thing, because first of all, they're very inexpensive.
Second of all, i can get them off quite easily.
If this is a fail, we will see what happens.
I also was on reddit scavenging to find information and a lot of people have this issue and it's actually kind of upsetting because i think it has to do with what they use at the salons.
That is this really cheap nail glue and it's like so awful for you.
We are going with French today.
That's my go-to classic favorite nail.
They look good.
I wouldn't say they look amazing, but they get the job done for me.
But I do feel a little dangerous because they are so pointy.
Like these things could cause some damage.
But for now i'm gonna get dressed.
I'm gonna put on my outfit that i just got yesterday.
Well, i got this top from ritzia.
Guys, doing anything with these nails is really difficult.
Um, these nails also feel like a liability the points on these at the end.
You guys, they are dangerous.
I'm putting on my jewelry from oh Okay, I think this is the final look.
Let me show you guys.
I think you can tell my hair a little bit more now.
I really like my hair because she kept it so warm.
I have on my new vest.
It's so flattering.
This is the final look.
I'm actually gonna bring this bag with me today.
Glow up complete or successful?
I don't know.
I would say so.
I like that this glow up was done very naturally.
A very natural approach to my hair.
You know this may not be the poster glow up transformation that I feel like a lot of content and social media does for glow up videos, which is definitely more of my speed because I love a natural look.
I love this top.
This is so flattering.
It's perfect.
I'm going to be wearing this so much this summer.
That's the look.
Thanks guys for watching my glow up video and hopefully my nails do not cause problems.
So I guess we'll see in my next vlog.
I'll keep you guys updated.
Okay.
Love you.
Bye.
