Hi guys, it's Syd.
Get ready with me for a date.
I don't know why I'm nervous.
Like I've been dating my boyfriend for over a year.
It's just excitement.
I love chatty videos like this.
And sometimes when I'm on YouTube, I just wanna watch someone mindlessly, yeah.
I don't wanna have to be thinking anything.
I just wanna let them do the thinking and like listen and absorb.
So that's what we're doing today.
I'm gonna be chatting a lot.
So maybe get a snack or tea to help this digest for you.
I love romanticizing every time I get ready for things, because it makes it so much fun and it makes me like remember the parts I love about being a woman.
I'm also filming this because I was feeling lonely today.
My roommate's gone.
She's like one of my best friends.
It's quiet in here.
First things first, I'm gonna do a ice bath on my face.
Yes, I did see Hailey Bieber do this first.
She always does everything first.
I'm pretty easily influenced by anything she does.
Like she could tell me to put Nutella over my face every night and I'd probably do it.
Usually what I do 90 of the time when I'm lazy is I'll just splash really ice cold water on my face in the morning when I wake up.
But if I'm feeling extra fancy or I have a special event tonight being date night, this is a massive, a massive event for me because I have been staying in every night.
It really just de-puffs my skin and I feel like my face feels tighter.
Maybe this is placebo, but I find it really just like refreshes me.
Can you see?
Okay, the hard part is the anticipation.
You can't think about it too much.
You just gotta dunk.
Three, two, one, dunk.
Doing this really makes me miss college, because in college I would always get ready with my roommates together.
We'd all sit together in the living room and put on a Spotify playlist and swap makeup.
You know, I don't know if it was that sanitary to do.
Like getting ready with your girlfriends, nothing is more fun than that.
It is also always way more fun than going out itself.
I like to focus on my skincare as the main prep for my makeup.
If I can get a really good skincare base, then I'm pretty much set.
I also did wash my hair prior to this.
I need to wash my hair every day.
I've really tried to be better about that and be the girl that doesn't wash their hair every day because everyone says it's so bad for you.
But my hair gets so oily so quickly that it will be a crime to everyone around me if I don't wash every day.
I don't want other people to have to see my oily, greasy hair.
I know that they say train your hair and stuff, but it's just, I think I've given up.
Like I just, I don't think it's ever gonna work for me.
I'm not gonna lie, the stress of the new year always hits me.
And I just made a video about this.
But I don't know, there's just so much pressure on being like amazing in the new year and looking your best and feeling your best.
All that extra pressure for me just never, it just like makes me anxious, honestly.
So I'm trying to limit my phone time this month.
I know what type of content maybe triggers me a little bit and like stresses me out.
It's probably a better phrase.
So I've been trying to be on my phone less, hence why I've been researching.
And I found this thing called, I think it's called the box.
Oh, it's called the brick.
It's like a physical brick.
If you leave it somewhere, you cannot physically access your phone.
So it's kind of like a physical way of like locking yourself out of your phone.
And I'm thinking about buying it.
That's a new development for me.
I'm finishing up my skincare with some moisturizer, by the way.
This is the Dio one.
I also love these drops I used.
I forgot to talk about them.
These are the Caudalie, you know, perfect ones.
Something I've been really aware of recently is the amount of pressure on women to not age and like to keep up their looks from when they were 20 years old to age 40, to like not get wrinkles, to all of those things.
To a degree obviously, i do enjoy like taking care of myself and my skin, protecting myself with spf and taking the best care of my skin as possible, but there's just so much pressure on women and it kind of almost just like sets you up for failure because no one is not going to age.
Aging is also a beautiful thing.
I mean to be able to grow older is such a privilege, to learn and be healthy and have experiences and to like get older is a beautiful thing.
I don't know why I'm talking about this right now.
It's just something I've been really frustrated with recently, and I think that there is a balance, because there's things that I personally love about taking care of my skin and looking my best and feeling my best, but it all needs to come with a grain of salt, and that's What I've been really trying to remember.
I'm gonna start the actual makeup.
I still have no idea what I'm gonna do with my hair and what I'm gonna wear.
So we have to hurry up.
I'm just doing a really light skin tint.
This is the Gucci Glow.
I like this because it's moisturizing and it doesn't look like foundation.
That's my biggest pet peeve.
The goal for me is to always make it appear like I'm not wearing any makeup at all.
So I try to be as minimal as I possibly can.
Usually I just rub in the product with my fingers and I find it blends the best this way.
I'm trying not to pick my skin right now.
That's what I'm thinking.
That's what's going through my head.
I've been seeing some comments of people asking, can you post more of your boyfriend?
Or just like questions in general about like the state of my relationship.
And I think something I've really always stayed true to myself about since the very beginning is that I never wanted to like over publicize a relationship that I'm in.
I just think it only brings more harm than good from everything that I've seen on social media.
I definitely want to post my significant other and the person that I love and who I spend like majority of my time with, so that it's known that I am obviously with someone and I'm very happy.
I never want to like overshare details or like overshare my relationship or exploit it, because that just feels like it's not special anymore to me and him.
So for all the people wondering why i'm not giving, like maybe more updates or sharing more about it, that's why every once in a while he shows up in my content.
But i also think about that with kids one day and i get some questions about that sometimes, but I do.
100 want kids.
I've dreamed of being a mom.
That has been like my biggest dream and excitement since I was so young.
Anyways, that's not anytime soon.
So why am I like, why am I, what am I even saying?
I did buy something new.
I invested in a depression light.
I'm going in by the way with a contour stick.
I realized I'm not saying anything because I'm doing this.
This is from Merit Beauty.
This time of year, if you guys have watched me, you know it's just the hardest for me mentally.
And it is for a lot of people, you know, seasonal depression is a really real thing.
I haven't been diagnosed with it so I'm not gonna like self-diagnose that.
But I do notice how much my mood just completely shifts on really cloudy days or winter days like right now.
So I recently bought a depression light It's essentially this light that emulates sunlight.
There are some claims though, that it is supposed to help you, and really like emulate that feeling of sunlight.
So I will let you guys know how that goes.
I haven't even used it yet.
I just got it and you know, in my mind nothing is going to compare to the sun.
But I need to give it a try, because what else do I have?
What are the options here?
I'm going in with some blush.
This is the Westman Atelier blush, and I like to just put it all the way up to my cheekbones and then a little bit on my nose.
I just broke my eyeshadow.
I used to really love getting eyelash lifts.
I would get them, I don't know, a couple times a year, like before vacation or something.
I'm scarred.
I can never get one again.
Basically, if you follow me, I think it was on TikTok.
I posted a little bit about it.
I ended up getting a horrible, horrible eye infection from what I 999 suspect was an eyelash lift.
To make matters worse, I was all the way across the world in Africa.
I noticed my eyes started hurting like two days after my eyelash lift.
I just thought, you know, maybe it's like a little sty.
Those go away with time, like they suck.
But then I woke up in Africa the second day of our trip and I looked in the mirror and I think I screamed because I was so frightened by what I saw, which was my face.
I looked like I got punched in the eye.
I had this puffy swollen eye.
My eye was actually swollen shut.
I couldn't even open it.
It was such a horrible eye infection.
It was so painful.
I was extra frightened because I felt like I had no resources, because it was in the middle of Kenya, in the middle of nowhere, somewhere I've never been before.
I didn't have like any connections to doctors there.
I didn't really know what to do.
And it just kept getting worse each day.
And it was so painful.
Like it was getting to the point I was like, crying from just the pain that I was in.
To make matters worse, it was about a six hour drive to like the nearest main city with a hospital.
So I was really freaking out.
We ended up finding this travel nurse who saved my life.
Thank you, God, because I truly prayed for help and I remember feeling so desperate.
And then this amazing travel nurse came and he was so kind.
We were able to somehow get this travel nurse to come and he gave me this really strong injection in my hand and it made me faint.
I think because they didn't have an IV bag to administer it slowly and they had to administer it all at once.
He said that it would probably like make me faint or pass out and it definitely did.
I have a photo.
The injection luckily worked.
It was some like very strong antibiotic and I just trusted him and I trusted the doctor.
Only a couple days later I started healing but it was such an insane experience.
After that I decided never again am I getting an eyelash lift.
If anyone else has experienced something like this, can you please like comment or something?
I'm just so thankful to have access to healthcare and like it really put things into perspective for me.
I'm going in now with my favorite lip liner.
This is the Makeup Forever lip liner in Anywhere Caffeine.
And this is pretty much my staple every day.
I also forgot to mention, I put this red beauty liquid eyeshadow in my crease and it looks so good.
Hailey Bieber actually was the one.
Okay, wow, I'm obsessed with her.
This is the second time I'm bringing her up.
It's a little too much maybe, but she recommended this in one of her videos and I did a video recreating her makeup.
It's such a beautiful color.
It's like, I always go back to this.
I've had this for about two years now.
All right, I'm talking too much and not getting ready enough.
So I'm gonna do my mascara now.
This is the Too Faced mascara.
I just got this brand new Se setting spray.
First time using it.
So let's see.
We like it.
I like how it dispenses because it's so fine.
We will see the real test though, at the end of the night, how much my makeup stays on.
Let's go pick out my outfit and then do my hair.
I don't know why I do the order this way.
This is just how I operate.
So let's go pick out my outfit.
I'm so excited because I just love how my makeup is looking.
When I had my eye infection for a month, I didn't wear makeup at all.
I just like felt really insecure because I felt ugly and I felt like I just felt horrible about myself.
I am going to figure out what to wear.
I do know that I want to surround my outfit around this bag that my boyfriend just got me for Christmas, and I want to incorporate it somehow into the outfit.
So this is what I'm starting with.
This is not too crazy of a restaurant.
It's definitely nice, but I don't need to like go overboard.
Oh, I've been really wanting to wear this brown blazer, and I just haven't known how to throw it together.
I love this gold little accent on the side.
Maybe something with this.
Here's another runner up.
I just got this olive green sweater from Revolve.
I think I need to try things on at this point because I'm not gonna be able to decide until I see them.
Okay, so this is the blazer.
I'm definitely not opposed to this and i think this is actually quite sleek and elegant.
I don't know if this is too nice for where we're going.
Second option is this sweater.
We're really going a lot more casual here, which you know.
Is this too casual?
Now we may be leaning on the too casual side of things.
I could definitely dress this up, though here's what i'm thinking for the bottoms.
I wish that you guys could help me in real time.
You know what you can.
I sometimes post on my story and i get your outfit advice.
I might be doing that tonight.
Do I wear this black satin skirt or this cream satin skirt?
It's just like too daytime-y for me at the moment, it feels.
Let's try the black skirt.
I may wanna try the pants instead.
This is getting messy.
See, the pile has already begun.
All right, I'm feeling a lot more comfortable in these pants.
I think this could be nice, especially with some black heels such as these dolce vita ones that i wear every single video that you guys are probably sick of by now all right outfit check what do we think i hate that i am not getting any responses because this is not a live stream this is a youtube video maybe i should start doing live streams you know the person who will always give it to me real good or not good is my mom she's ruthless she will be like that's so bad or she'll tell me it's great and i i love that i can trust her Let's see what she has to say.
Hi.
Hi.
Hi mom.
Do you like this outfit?
Oh, that's very pretty.
Yes.
Gorgeous.
You put that together yourself?
Yes.
Welcome to my horrendous bathroom lighting.
It is bad, but we're going to just wrap this up quick in here.
I really needed to curl my hair just to give it some volume.
And it also, it's like kind of like weirdly kinked.
Cause I put my hair up after I showered.
I'm gonna try this Orbea texturizing spray.
I love this brand.
And they sent me PR, which I have been buying this brand on occasion because it's a very nice luxury brand since I was like 15.
It was one of the first haircare brands that I ever remember like treating myself with.
I'm so jealous of all the girls out there who have thick hair, because I have the world's finest hair ever.
So I'm always just trying to find ways to make my hair look fuller than it is.
All right, I'm just kind of experimenting right now.
So I'm spraying this spray as I go.
I don't know if this is wrong, but I've been liking to curl my hair towards my face, which I used to only do the opposite away.
But I kind of just like how it frames my face in the front when I curl my hair in.
Hair experts, please, you know, point me in the right direction.
I'm really liking this volume spray.
I feel like it's, whoa, I just missed.
Smells so good.
It just reminds me of the salon I went to when I was younger to get my hair done.
I'm also gonna throw on a fragrance.
This one is the one I've been using by Glossier.
I love the scent.
I could like drink this.
That's how much I like the scent.
I always get so many compliments when I wear this of all of my fragrances.
Okay, the hair is done.
What do we think?
I hope we like it.
Cause at this point I've already worn it.
I have so much fun picking out my jewelry every time.
It's my favorite step of getting ready for the day.
I feel like I can really like accessorize and make an outfit look so different just with the jewelry.
And I have a jewelry brand.
That's how much I love jewelry.
So this shouldn't be a surprise.
I'm not sure if I want to go this bold.
I just live in love with this piece and I don't think it goes well tonight actually.
This is too much, but I just, I'm really excited about it.
I think for tonight, we're going to keep it simple though.
I'm going to put in these two-toned oval earrings.
These are actually one of the very early stages of a draft that we had for this that I also love so much.
And they're quite similar to the final version that we have coming out soon.
I just dropped it.
No.
Oh no, guys.
I lost it for good.
It went deep into the abyss of my bed.
It's already been five minutes and I'm not finding it.
So I have a feeling it's just gone forever.
Okay.
I ended up doing some emergency earrings.
I threw on these ones.
They're also Ophelia coming soon.
They're just these little circle O's.
I want to keep the jewelry pretty minimal tonight.
So I have some rings on as well.
Also, Ophelia, we're having rings coming out really soon.
I know you guys have been asking for them.
This is the final look for date night tonight.
I'm ready to go.
And I think I should leave right about now because I don't want to be late.
I was rewatching a video from, I think like three years ago when I was in college.
And I was talking about just like dating in general.
And it's so crazy to think about the mindset that I was in then.
And I've just been really thinking about that Bible verse.
You don't realize now what I'm doing, but later you will.
It's just kind of crazy how, looking back, that verse is so true and certain things failed that I didn't want to at the time but now have led me to the best thing ever.
And I'm so happy.
And it's a good reminder for me to just trust in his process and not my timing, because I always want to do things on my own time, but that's never.
It never works out that way.
And for the best, it doesn't.
All right, but I'm ready to go.
Let me do one more mirror check.
Okay, this mirror is very dirty.
Please ignore that, but I am ready to go.
See you guys.
All right, I'm en route to date night.
Unfortunately, the restaurant we were gonna go to that we usually go to closed early.
So we ended up trying out this new Mexican spot, which was so delish.
This is me reapplying my lip at dinner.
By the way, they say setting spray worked.
My makeup lasted all night.
I had the best time with my boyfriend.
It was such a nice little night together.
We also got churros, delicious.
I love you guys.
Thanks for watching.
See you in my next vlog.
Bye.
