Pinna!
Hi, this is Adam Gidwitz from Grim Grimmer Grimmest.
I just learned about something really cool.
Maybe you've heard of Carnegie Hall.
It's the famous concert hall in New York City where all of the best orchestras singers, soloists come and perform.
There's an old joke.
How do you get to Carnegie Hall?
Practice, practice, practice.
Though my favorite version of the joke is, how do you get to Carnegie Hall?
The Q-Train.
Nobody likes that version, but I like it.
Anyway, I've just discovered that Carnegie Hall has a kids' website where you can learn all about classical music and world music.
You can take quizzes and figure out, like, is it an animal sound or an instrument sound?
They have an awesome epic game where you can find all these instruments as guided by Benjamin Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra, which is one of my favorite pieces of music in the world.
It's a really an amazing website, not just with the resources but to teach love of the beauty of classical music.
I really recommend it.
So now there's a new way to get to Carnegie Hall.
Start the musical journey early and go to kidscarnegiehallorg to check out fun child-friendly games and quizzes.
Or you can take the Q train, but try the website.
Whoa, I was just about to knock on the door.
I wanted to surprise you, so I opened the door first.
Well, I'm glad you did, because first is the perfect word to start today's adventure.
Why?
Wait, let me guess.
First.
First starts with the letter F. You figured it out.
Hey, Fig, it also starts with F. Right again.
You're fast.
Fast.
That's F2.
Ha ha.
He's on fire, folks.
Fire.
Another word that starts with F. Hi, Quentin.
Hi, Miss Betts.
Mom, we're going on an adventure all about the letter F. Is it okay if we leave now?
Of course, honey.
Have f-f-fun.
So, where's the sidewalk going to take us today, Quentin?
It's a surprise.
Aww.
Come on.
Surprises are fun, right?
They are pretty fun.
My friend Fran just had a surprise birthday party.
She turned four.
Wait, no, five.
Do you know that you just said five words that start with the letter F?
I did?
Yep.
Fun, friend, Fran, four and five.
That's five words that start with F. I guess I am ready for our adventure.
A, I, B, Whoa, it's a farm.
That's what the sign says.
Welcome to Finn's Fantastic Farm of Farmingville.
Farm.
Farm starts with F. Good job.
That deserves a fist bump, little man.
Bam.
Look, goats.
People are feeding them.
Can we feed them too?
For sure.
Let's go.
Goats sound so funny when they eat.
My mom always tells me to close my mouth when i chew.
Now i know why.
What's that sound?
Look, it's parcel.
He must be making a delivery.
Hey, mr parcel, what are you doing?
I have this big box of farmer finn's goat food.
I was supposed to deliver it to this pen, but these goats won't stop chasing me.
Wait, What did you say was in the box?
Goat food.
Goat food?
No wonder they're chasing you, Mr. Parcel.
Goats love goat food.
And if you were supposed to bring that box here, it's probably lunchtime.
But how can I get these goats to stop chasing me?
I got it.
Put the box down.
What?
Why?
The goats are hungry.
They just want food.
Okay.
Good idea.
Thanks, Alfie.
Leave it to Alfie for some quick thinking.
I'm fast on my feet.
Oh, speaking of which, I have to run and tell Farmer Finn that the goats have been fed.
See you guys later.
Bye, Mr. Parcel.
What's that sound?
What sound?
That... Oh, it's a tractor.
See it coming this way?
Yeah, it's pulling people on a cart that looks like it's filled with hay.
Yep, they're going on a hayride.
Can we go?
Uh, sure, but, um... Follow me!
Thanks for coming on the hayride, Quinson.
Oh, no problem, little man.
It's just one thing.
Achoo!
Do you have a code, Quentin?
No, it's just I'm allergic to the... Achoo!
Hey.
Maybe we should get off this tractor.
You know what, Alfie?
Achoo!
That is a good... Achoo!
Idea.
Farmer Finn, can you stop the tractor?
Achoo!
Thanks for the hayride.
Yeah, thank... Achoo!
You.
Achoo!
Achoo!
Achoo!
Here, my mom gave me some tissues before we left this morning.
Thanks, buddy.
Who's playing that trumpet?
Hi, Miss Mixie.
What are you doing here?
I'm here to sing a new song I wrote about farms.
Cool!
What's that?
Oh, this?
It's called a fiddle.
It's a stringed instrument.
Give it a listen.
It's that trumpet again.
That wasn't a trumpet, Miss Mixie.
It's just Quentin blowing his nose.
Yep.
My nose makes beautiful music.
Well, let's hear what you got.
I think I'm all blown out.
That's okay.
I can still play you my new song.
Want to hear it?
Yes!
What is it called?
It's called A Farm is Full of Fun.
Sing along when I get to this part.
A farm is full of fun, f-f-full of fun.
It's fantastic to be on the farm.
A farm is full of fun, f-f-full of fun.
It's fantastic to be on the farm.
The farm is full of fun.
It's fantastic to be on the farm.
The farmer milks the goats and the cows.
Fresh green grass grows high.
A farm is full of fun, f-f-full of fun.
It's fantastic to be on the farm.
There are fireflies and frogs, sheep, sheep, a horse, a snake.
Pigs eat fluff and roll in the hay.
A farm is full of fun, animal friends.
A farm is full of fun.
I love your new song, Ms.
Mixie.
Me too.
Thanks, guys.
I need to run, though.
I have another performance in five minutes for the goats.
And if I don't start on time, they can get a little fussy.
Bye, Mixie.
Bye, Ms.
Mixie.
Bye.
What was that?
It sounds like someone's coughing.
Let's go make sure they're okay.
Someone is coughing.
Vivi the veterinarian here on very important business.
Hey, it's Dr. Vivi.
Hi there.
Is everything okay?
No, not at all.
What's wrong?
There's a sick animal on Finn's fantastic farm and I have to find it.
Hear that?
That poor coughing creature.
Where is he?
What kind of animal are you looking for?
Pharma.
Finn's message said that an animal that starts with the letter F had a bad cough and I should come right away.
I have an idea.
Let's listen for the cough and see if we can follow the sound.
When we find the cough, we'll find the animal.
Good idea.
Listen, it sounds like it's coming from the barn.
It sounds like it's coming from inside the barn.
Let's go.
Aha!
Look, there's a fox.
Fox?
Fox starts with the letter F, right, Quentin?
That's right.
The fox must be sick.
Let me just check out this little fella.
Is the fox sick, Dr. Vivi?
Nope.
This fox is fit as a fiddle.
Look at his fantastically fluffy tail.
So if it's not the fox, then it has to be another animal that starts with the letter F.
There's the cough again.
It's coming from over there!
Aha!
A firefly!
Firefly starts with the letter F?
Yeah, but can flies even cough?
Not to worry.
I'll check out this beautiful glowing insect.
How are you doing today, Firefly?
Is the Firefly sick?
No, this Firefly is feeling fine.
So if it's not the fox or the Firefly, then it has to be another animal that starts with the letter F.
There's the cough again.
It's coming from over there.
Follow me.
Look!
It's a coughing frog!
Frog starts with the letter F. We found it!
My patient, at last!
This teaspoon of honey will fix this frog right up.
There you go, my little green friend.
Listen!
The coughing stopped!
Man, talk about having a frog in your throat.
Nice job, vivi.
All in a day's work, my friends, but i have to go see you later.
Well alfie, i don't know about you, but i'm pretty tired.
Yeah, what do you say?
We head back home?
Okay, but let's race.
Whoever gets back first wins.
Wait up, it's alfie in first, but quentin's coming up fast.
Just five more feet to the finish And it's a Tie.
Good race, little man.
But I think you let me come back.
Nah, you're pretty fast for your age.
Thanks, buddy.
Hi, guys.
Mom, you'll never guess what we saw today.
Foxes, fireflies, and frogs.
Sounds like you had quite the adventure.
We always do.
Well, thank you, Quentin.
We'll see you tomorrow.
What's our next adventure, Quentin?
Wait, don't tell me.
Give me a hint.
Okay.
It's gonna be the best adventure we've gone on yet.
Can you guess what letter it'll be?
Guess?
Hmm, is it the letter G?
You got it, little man.
See you tomorrow.
