Oh hey, nice to meet you.
I'm maddie.
Hey maddie, my name is jack, i'm from london.
And who's your friend?
Oh, this is rick rick.
Maddie, maddie rick, hey rick, it's nice to meet you.
Uh, say something hi, introduce yourself.
Um, I'm London.
I'm from Rik.
What was that?
You really need to learn how to introduce yourself in English.
When you first meet someone, the most important thing you need to know how to do is to introduce yourself.
In this lesson, we're going to learn this and I'm going to show you five easy steps.
Step one is greeting.
This is where you basically say hello.
If it's a casual situation, say one of these.
Hello.
Hi.
How are you?
If it's a formal situation, use these.
Good morning.
Good afternoon.
Good evening.
And never ever do this.
Sup.
Yo.
Howdy.
Step two, say your name.
Now, there are different ways to introduce your name.
One of them is this.
My name is, and then you say your name.
Or I'm, and then you say your name.
My name is Christopher.
I'm Christopher.
However, if your name is long or it's difficult, you can also use this.
You can call me and then say your nickname.
For example, my name is Christopher.
You can call me Chris.
Step three, basic details.
Now you have greeted this person and you have introduced your name.
It is time to add some basic details to the introduction.
You can talk about location.
Where are you from?
I'm from, and then mention the country.
I'm from Italy.
Or you can talk about the city where you live.
I live in, and then mention the city.
I live in Milan.
Another interesting basic information you can add to your introduction is to talk about work or study.
I work as...
And then mention your job.
I work as a teacher.
Or you can say this.
I'm a... And then name your occupation.
I'm a teacher.
I'm a student.
I'm a nurse.
Or if you are studying something at university, college or even school or high school, you can use this.
I study engineering or I study architecture.
And of course, it's a great idea to talk about your hobbies, the things you do in your free time.
You can say, I like, and then name the hobby.
You can say, I enjoy and then name an activity.
Or you can say, I'm really into and then mention your interest.
I like playing tennis.
I enjoy swimming.
I'm really into classical music.
Step four is to add extra details.
Now, depending on the situation, you may want to make your introduction a bit longer.
You can talk about purpose.
Why are you there at that time meeting that person?
What's the purpose behind you being there?
Why are you there?
You can say, I'm here too, and then mention the purpose.
For example, if it's a language school, I'm here to learn English.
Or you can talk about your feelings about being there.
I'm really excited too, and then mention that activity that you're going to do.
I'm really excited to join this group.
Another thing you can do is to talk about a fun fact.
What is something fun about you that you think people would like to hear?
For example, I have two cats.
No, I don't have two cats in reality, but I'm just saying.
If you have any pets, it might be a good idea to talk about your pets.
Or maybe the fact that I speak four languages.
I speak four languages.
That's a fun fact about me.
And step five is ending.
You want to close your introduction nicely.
You can simply say, nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you.
Or if you want to make it a bit more formal, it's a pleasure to meet you.
It's a pleasure to meet you.
Or you can say something like, I'm very happy to be here.
I'm very happy to be here.
Okay, so let's put them all together.
Greeting, saying your name, adding basic details, adding extra details, and ending.
Great.
Let's see some sample introductions.
Hey, I'm Marco.
I live in Milan.
I'm a barista.
I love cycling on weekends.
Glad to meet you.
Hi, I'm Morty.
I'm from Canada.
I study business and in my free time, I play football.
Nice to meet you.
Good morning.
My name is Rick Sanchez and I'm from the States.
I work as a scientist.
I enjoy learning new skills and I'm very happy to be here today.
See?
Very easy, right?
