So how about you get us started by telling us a little bit about yourself and what you do?
Sure. All right, Kwame.
So I'm My name is Jason Harris.
I'm the co-founder and CEO of an advertising agency.
We're our names mechanism We're about 200 people for offices.
We work on big brands like Ben and Jerry's Peloton, Charles Schwab, Jose Cuervino, etc., etc.
We got about 25 brands. We do business to consumer advertising and every facet that that takes to do a lot of hardcore brand strategy and creative work and Really I've been doing advertising my whole entire career and I'm the host of big technology podcast a long time reporter and an on air contributor to CNBC And if you're like me, you're trying to figure out how artificial
intelligence is changing the business world and our lives So each week on big technology I bring on key actors from companies building AI tech and outsiders trying to influence it asking where this is all going they come from places like Nvidia Microsoft Amazon and plenty more so if you want to be smart with your wallet your career choices and meetings with your
colleagues and at dinner parties Tune into big technology podcast on your app of choice No, this is great and I want to focus in on the empathy side of this too because and and we'll dig deeper on to the fact that again Just like generosity you improve your ability to be empathetic because empathy is a skill.
It's something you can't improve upon But let's before we dig into that.
Let's actually get a definition on the table for what empathy means in the context of persuasion and human interaction Yeah, I think for me there's a few different steps to becoming more empathetic, but it's an essential habit To have a persuasive character But really empathy is the ability to Understand the other per jumping to a conclusion or getting the answer
but really to listen to their perspective or their story or where they're coming from To have that as a natural curiosity which I had to develop that curiosity about other people That's sort of one of the foundations of I think being empathetic and the Overriding notion is that you know, we're all 99.9% the same right we all have the same DNA.
There's there's that that that point One percent that makes us different as people and if you sort of go into it thinking how connect through through your life or Your favorite movie or book or music or story And you kind of write those down like you know collect a journal of stories that make you you And so you sort of know those and you're a good storyteller One way to
to Become empathetic and get other people to open up and be naturally curious is you can start by saying You know, I'm gonna tell you a story about a some pivotal thing that happened to me.
You're being vulnerable You're opening yourself up.
That's gonna allow them To never it might be try to really put yourself in that present moment and tap back You know, what I always do is tap back into the core of who I am What makes me me So that I can reach out and try to connect and and have that curiosity about the other person And then like after this podcast, I'll go back to dealing with the the issue I need to deal with and but for this period
of time I'm that's out of my mind and I'm focused on you know where we are now and uh Going back to you know who I am in a core is a good sort of grounding tent and insights giving you the tools you need to negotiate higher salaries Better deals and better relationships in your life and career once I had a listener share that negotiate anything helped her to negotiate a $53,000
raise could this be you What would that mean for your life?
I've seen first hand the impact this model has had on my life and the lives of my corporate clients And I am confident that it can do the same for you Are you ready to negotiate more of the best things in life?
